Watch Tyler Childers performing this medley that begins with an unreleased song titled "Out On A Drunk" and closes with "Honky Tonk Flame", a tune from his latest record, Purgatory.
Wild enough to shoot at, natural born heathens, back sliders wine. Lyrical genius. The only artist more country than him is maybe Loretta Lynn. Pure Appalachian.
And that's what he does in every song that he pours his soul into! ❤ love that he gets lost in his thoughts while he sing his songs. Still ain't good for nothing, except for everything he does.
Jacob Tharpe yep, it means all of our crutches that get in the way of being the best we can. For me it’s alcohol, white lines and women lol. I’m sober now though thank the lord.
I hope that commercial radio never effects the raw emotion in his voice. He is a once or twice in a lifetime artist that gives back the promise that good music feeds out souls and heals out hearts. Thank you Tyler
All to often to come by. Down here in tampa, it is kiterwlly pop country bullshit 24/7. I paid for youtube red just to get away from the commercials, the bullshit music, and shitty artist.
There's thousands of talented people in the world but very few that can paint a picture with their words and make you feel like you're living in the middle of their songs. Tyler Childers is one of those guys. I love artists that tell great stories in their lyrics.
Strangest thing is me and him share the same last name in real life and it's like he's talking about thoughts I've had I've never told anyone. Just let's me know I'm not alone in this world with the problems I've got
It's the reason I'm scouring the comments section! My sentiments exactly. I desperately want it added to my Spotify Playlist! How do we reach this talented gent and plead our case?
@@roynebarnhill258 he should make waylon on my willie the title track. Imagine and number 1 on the country music chart is tyler childers waylon on his willie 😂😂
I been workin on a 30x40 shop, just the inside. Tyler comes on my bluetooth speaker and progress just stops. I drink a couple beers after starting the song over 2 or 3 times. I will never get shit done. But I would rather listen to tyler with a cold one in my hand than a nail gun and a tape measure. That's for sure. 👍🤙🍺
I'm convinced that the only people giving Tyler's videos the thumbs down are Luke Bryan and Sam Hunt fans. You know, the people that don't know good music.
Un fucking believable performance! I had to play this three times to make sure I wasn’t dreaming! Thank you Tyler! You’re killin us out here with this goodness!
They will never let him out of the dark people, he puts all these other phonies to shame, dam fine singer, nothing but pure emotion ...love it dude keep it real
I love this dudes intensity and authenticity. One of the greatest artists out there. This is real music folks. No auto-tune here. Just raw talent, grit and soul.
Thank the good universe for this old soul in a young mans body!!! Ive kicked poor ol Lyle to the curb!!! Please please please dont lose what you carry and share with us all!!
I have twin boys that are 14. I'm 48! I love his music and so do they. I can't wait until we see our first TTC and the food stamps show together! Great stuff Tyler!
Jonathan Pierce Most would say my kids (6 & 10) are too young for his lyrics but I beg to damn differ!!! The husband, kids, and I jam all of Tyler’s music together daily 🙌🏼 (expect Whitehouse Road) 😂 I don’t want them knowing anything about “sniffing cocaine” just yet. Give em a couple of years 😜
I was in my girlfriend's car yesterday and a country song came on , after I heard the 3 minute long dumpster fire, I praised Jesus for Tyler!Lord help us!
I listened to this music when I visited my mothers town in Mexico sitting in my mothers 100 year old house my grandparents built out of mud I sat and listened to mr Childers music I think in my 35 years of life I found myself in a very good place in my life drinking some cold ones with my family I swear they could not understand the lyrics but I know they felt it in their soul damn beers finished as if we were drinking water in the desert 🌵
He speaks from my heart. Things hard to admit. And he's got such hard and original licks that are refreshing and new sounding while keeping it traditional country. He walks a line few have ever attempted
@@haleymanwarring6900 Fucking same. Though there are a few artists I’ve found now that are the same. I literally just went out to Red Rocks in Colorado to see this man play at the end of September. Went all the way from the west coast to do so
I was born, raised & spent whole life in northeast. My grandfather was born & raised in & around Bristol, TN. His impact on the person I am today can't be overstated. He was one of 10 kids raised on a farm. Never learned to read or write. Served in the Navy in WWII (which is how I came to be here). One of the wisest and most real people I've ever known. So glad I came across Tyler's music. Besides being just generally great and real the way my grandfather was, I immediately heard grandpa's way of speaking, phraseology, mannerisms, etc. It's like I get to kind of hang out & listen to him talk for a while. I can't stop listening. Thanks do much, Mr. Childers. You deserve all the success you get, and no doubt much more. RIP Jome Preston Cox b. ? d. 1989.
I love the ambiguity in "Too often I reach for things I know keep me from bein' all that I can... like a man.". Is it "like a man" to be all you can, or is it "like a man" to reach for things that prevent you from doing so? The obvious answer is "Yes".
Just found this guy. I grew up in Detroit, and that's the name of the song I listened to first. I know some 60's, and 70's country songs I've heard played in my house growing up. This takes me right back there. Amazing!
Tyler is one of my favorites. I’m a serious metal head, but I love good music in every form. Tyler, Billy Strings, Marcus King… don’t say there’s no good new music out. You sound foolish. There’s tons! All 3 of those young men and as real as it gets. And are just as talented as anyone to come before them.
God blessed Tyler Childers. And all of us. Beautiful hillbilly lullabies full of rigid, rugged truth. Powerful and sinfully relatable. Thank God I’m still here to hear it. Cause there’s things I recall, and things that are hazy… mad love from Tennessee 🧡💪🏼🇺🇸.
THIS WIZARD, HAS BRUNG, IT ALL OUT ON THE FRONT PORCH, RAW N RICH LYRICS, HIS OWN, MOUNTAIN, SOUND, BREAKING OUT OF THE MIDDLE GROUND, HE IS AN AMAZING, CRONER , #1
Robert Wright I was eating at a steakhouse tonight and good ole sturgill came on the radio. Surprised the shit outta me. It was sittin here without you. That’s a step in the right direction.
Hot damn boy I believe you did sell your soul to the devil! I'm 44 and grew up on the old outlaw country artists and for the last 25 plus years I thought country was dead and not coming back. Then this kid comes along holy hell his stuff is so pure and from the heart it can move me to tears
Childers, Jinks, Simpson, Meyers, Davis, & Whitey Morgan are the best music out there nowadays...hands down. Keep up the great work...Jones, The Hag, & Waylon would be proud youre keeping the flame burning
Stop teasing us Postie 🇺🇸... (Consulting Orb)... Tyler, Sturge, Stapleton and others are recording in the Utah desert as we speak, creating breathing magic...vision getting blurry..dear God is that Willie Nelson? It's country music heaven after all!
I think in fact I know it's a privilege to hear this man play and sing, thank you, keep on keepin on and don't listen to the critics, you do you can't wait for the new album when you're ready ❤️
People don't understand this about how songs can sound so different by one artist. Out on a Drunk isn't on a record but Honky Tonk Flame is way better than the record version imo.
Uncle Lucius, Marc Broussard, Shawn James, Shooter Jennings, Hayes Carll, and everybody these other folks named. They've restored my love for "outlaw" country.
If i never get to see Tyler childers LIVE with an acoustic in hand… half lit… then I’ve never truly lived.. the look in his eyes!! Senora May..YOU’RE BLESSED!!❤️❤️💕💕🤟🤟🥰🥰
1] I was out on a drunk I was wild enough to shoot at Too high to hit Too low to try Try as I may Have good intentions Natural-born heathens Love backslider's wine [Verse 2] Brothers and sisters That would be bourbon That'd be 'bout the furthest Thing that I need All my born days I ain't never been decent At hidin' the demons I'm haulin' in me [Chorus] Too often I reach For things I know keep me for bein' all that I can Like a man [Verse 3] There are things I recall There are things that are hazy There are things that just shame me There are things I can't change Try as I might Too have good intentions Natural-born heathens Love backslidin' ways >[Chorus] Too often I reach For things I know keep me for being all that I can Like a man
I was out of my mind the first night we met I was feeling lonely and blue I just moved to the country to get me some rest The city put a hurtin' on you Especially a fella from eastern Kentucky Without a penny or a worth to his name Wasting his life on a burning desire and chasing that honky tonk flame You were soft on the eyes and a hymn on the hearin' Leaving me helpless of lines To get you to listen to the way I was feeling And the plans I had made for our night Hold on now buddy won't you wait up a minute You're mistaken if you think I'm the same As them skirts you've been chasing all over town Along with that honky tonk flame I'm a woman with a love so true Truth of the matter, I'd give it to you You just got to slow down and quit acting that way Burning your barn in this honky tonk flame You were sweet to the touch and a touch for the takin' The minute I learned how to breed Finally found out that the love of a woman Who love me was all that I need Still on the road cuz I ain't good for nothin' Except writin' the songs that I sing Beating them strings like they're owin' me money And chasing that honky tonk flame But I've got me a woman with a love so true That's darlin' to me, but that's misses to you All I did was slow down Quit acting that way Burning my barn in this honky tonk flame
Best damn singer songwriter of his generation. Keep putting out music with this much heart and soul and you will go far brother. I’m definitely a dedicated fan. Keep up the good work.
