How do you know when it is time to change your needle?

Thanks! I feel like I should know this stuff but just didn't 😅 I am forever re-learning the big number, small needle thing. It just won't stick 😅 I don't know if you've seen the gold plated needles, at first glance it seems like a stupid extravagance, but everybodies body chemistry is different and some people (me. It's me.) Corrode needles super quickly. My favourites are the John James gold plated needles, the gold plating takes a long time to rub off compared to others I've tried (gold is soft, this will happen with any gold plated needle) and as with all their needles they're just great quality and sharpness.
