An old ass Silva accepted this fight on 3 days notice in a different weight class, and honestly, gave DC ridiculous business. Hurt him bad to the body and came close. That's how great that man is in the cage. Top 5 all time, arguable GOAT. 16 straight wins, 14 stoppages, 12 knockouts, 2 submissions, and even came to the UFC pretty much at the end of his prime. Legend
He’s an absolute legend but tbh I think Cormier would beat him most of the times. Not saying it’s not competitive, it certainly is and they are both some of the greatest MMA fighters we’ve ever seen, but I think DC wins like 6/10 times or more
You 're right and it's more than amazing numbers, anyone that could witness his fights know how far beyond that guy was on his striking, it's absolutely nuts
@@GDN_Dan You’re comment is completely irrelevant. Both DC and Silvia took the fight on 3 days notice, can’t argue with facts. Go look in a mirror to figure out whose stupid here.
The fact that this is what is left of Silva after exiting his prime, and he was able to put on a performance like this on 3 days' notice against the LHW champ...the man is undoubtedly top 3 greatest of all time.
@@phobosex7504 I feel like they fought tougher competition. Cormier moved up in weight class, beat the greatest in that division and defended the belt. Anderson was just on some next level spider man stuff. The way he defeated people was never seen before and has not been duplicated since. GSP to me is a great champ and top five, but later fights were just a lot of lay and pray victories. But if you want to push him higher I respectfully couldn’t disagree.
@@daoud1608 mighty mouse shouldn't be in top 5, maybe top 10. He is the one who fought a much lower level of competition. GSP is only under Jones in my opinion
@@Captain_Insano_nomercy I think he just made it look easy. Beat cejudo arguably twice. Dominated every one else. Moved and fought bigger dudes over seas. I think the competition idea is just a false rumor that won’t die. I’m always on the fence with GSP just because the way he won, but I can’t argue with his placement below Jones.
@@aaryasharma4940 Lol Prime Anderson Silva would beat Jon Jones if older Silva who was able to hold his ground against a young DC who is a heavyweight than obviously in his prime he could defeat Jones
@@Raul-wd1jb DC didn't even come close to beating Jon, it hurts as a UFC and DC fan to say but Jon destroyed DC and he'd do the same to Prime Silva as well, Chael said it himself he dominated Silva and lost coz a last minute critical mistake but got dominated by Jon their whole fight and Jon is superior to Chael in terms of skills and fight iq so he won't make the same mistake. Silva will lose if he fought in LHW or HW his only chance is if Jon fought at MW which would likely never happen
3 days of preparation Different weight class Several years old And still could gave DC a great fight!!! Anderson Silva is literally on a different level
@@hakr1298 I wouldn’t say a lot because it was a really good ppv one of the best selling for ufc. Maybe a lot of casuals don’t know it because they started watching after Conor Khabib.
Facts Prime Silva would have dismantled DC on the feet n got him on the ground as Silva's ground game has always been underestimated. Travis Lutter, Dan Henderson & Cheal Sonnen all fukked around and found that out. DC would have either lost by decision, subbed or more than likely knocked out, out of all those scenarios.
@@lachlanm7149 it crippled me some just watching it🤣 these mfrs, professional fighters- ufc/boxing... I'm not a crybaby by any means, but I can't deal with liver shots or repeat beatings in the abs, I'd prefer to get my head rocked over my body
I'm Brazilian and I'm a fan of Anderson, but I watched this fight live and I had the impression that there was an agreement for DC not to knock Anderson out, as if it were an exhibition fight for us.
I definitely believe DC went easy on him because at the end of the day silva did a massive favour by stepping in and saving the show. Its not to discredit silva but DC was naturally a much bigger and stronger man than silva and realistically could rag doll him like he was a child much like he did with dan henderson
Disagree. That body shot Silva hit DC with hurt him badly. DC fought a smart fight, having a opponent switch 3 days out, means his entire gameplan went out the window. He trained for Jones, not Silva. Silva even at that age was a more dangerous striker than Jones. DC played it smart, take him down repeatedly no need to risk it.
@@ryanmichael7795 Difference was DC was WELL TRAINED for Henderson with a full camp, he fought Silva on a 3 day notice. Hendo has never been a big LHW, and walks around below 200lb which he talked about , he weighed 199 the night of the fight with DC. DC walks around at 235lb at LHW, so come fight night he was much bigger. Anderson on the other hand walks around at 220lbs.
I remember this fight. DC basically had Anderson down and was controlling and throwing hammerfists all night. Then they stood for a bit and Silva landed a liver kick that made DC immediately go "nope back down we go".
Yep. DC let Silva live. You could tell he took it easy on Silva, Silva hit him with a body kick that put in serious damage, and DC said, "Damn, that's what I get for letting you live. Fine. Guess I gotta take you down again".
Keep dreaming. Anderson has always been good on the bottom at neutralizing his opponent and minimizing damage. DC went hard but couldn't do much than just control him on the ground. Also you both remember wrong as after the liver shot, DC didn't get him to the ground -the round ended.
@@MindGamingMantis Anderson held his leg and bassicly made it where DC couldnt do anything, Anderson nullified DC's grappling DC didnt have a hand in it lol
DC was taking it easy on him untill he got hit by that kick to the liver and his sense of urgency came up... DC gained my respect for not going straight up to the finish and he really gave us a show on that night when Anderson steped up to save the card... Both men put on a show what an entertaining fight...
@@92clintonr well watch the full fight and you will notice how dc mauled the spider. May be one or two times Anderson land some good shots but dc is too strong for him. There is no way Anderson Silva can beat DC.
@@joshferrari2577 oh like Anthony Smith? Lyoto machida? Shogun Rua? Not even Gustafson was a decent heavyweight. Also doesn't matter because most fighters have to cut down from something cormier was one of the only legit heavyweights cutting down to LHW.
Simples.
Because Anderson Silva replaced Jon Jones on late notice and it was a lame boring awful fight especially considering when it’s two of the greatest MMA fighters fighting.
I was in Vegas for this event. Power walked from the MGM to Stratosphere after watching Eddie Alvarez beat RDA. Crazy hyped up. Got to my room and turned on the news. Jon Jones in trouble again. That was an adrenaline dump. But not long after it was announced Anderson was stepping up on short notice to replace him. What a legend. DC outweighed him by 20lbs+ and had no choice but to wrassle
Yeah, put a young, healthy, prime Silva in there and he’d probably finish DC in a few rounds I think, maybe 3rd or 4th. Plus he accepted this fight on short notice.
DC wrecked him with wrestling but Silva took it on 3 days notice and DC is probably 30 pounds heavier than him in this fight. But Silva had a good showing of himself
Part of me wish cormier won 1 of the jon jones fights, it would make him the definitive GOAT, he wouldve beaten the greatest mw(silva),lhw(jones) and hw(stipe) of all time, as well as being a simultaneuos 2 time division champion
Wish he would come back for that one later up a weight class. Too bad he's retired, intelligent move really, when speaking of his own personal choices and benefits.
Its hard to say so, the first legit Anderson Silva loss was to Weidman, after that he got hurt and then wasnt the same, the age got him. In his prime tho he's the best I've seen
