Kyle is the youngest living Medal of Honor Recipient, but there was a Marine in WW2 named Jack Lucas who received the award at age 17, when he too, jumped onto a hand grenade tossed at him and his comrades to save their lives. Miraculously he survive the blast, but had over 200 pieces of metal in his body!!! Amazingly he was able to rejoin the Marines later and rose to the rank of Captain by the time he left the Marine Corps!

Please research Ben L Salamon, " The Dentist." I don't want to give much away, but he's known as the baddest mofo in US military history. He single handedly defeated a 100 combatants, most in hand to hand combat. It's an absolutely incredibly story. Truly worth a watch or read. He was recently awarded the MOH, though his actions took place in WWII.

I'm no soldier, but I have family who either are, or were. My great-uncle is a retired Lt. Colonel, my grandfather served in World War 2 (he was about to be sent overseas to fight when the war finally came to an end), and my younger cousin joined the US Marines a couple years ago and has since been promoted to Lance Corporal (as I'm not part of the military, I don't know how often promotions happen, or if him getting a promotion within about a year of joining the Marines is a sign that he's performing very well, but I certainly hope it does). As much as I worry about my cousin (I held him in my lap before when he was a toddler, so I feel very protective of him even though he could most likely kick my ass in more ways than I can count), I still have nothing but respect for his choice to join the military.

Though I have never met this man, I did have the honor of meeting another CMH recipient, SSgt.Roy Benevidez. The meeting was both humbling and enlightening. On being awarded the CMH, all Mr.Benevidez had to say is: " I am not a hero. I saw a lot of men whose names you will never hear, who were a million times more brave than I was. Heroes are buried in Arlington, lost on the fields of Europe in WWII, the hills of Korea and the jungles of Vietnam. I did what I did for my men, my buddies and my fellow soldiers. I have heard this incredibly honorable man speak before. The first time I heard him he had a wonderful joy about him. It caught me off guard. Such humbleness and full of life he was. As a veteran this brought a tear to my eyes. I thought what a great example of a warrior doing his job.

My son is a MARINE deploying for the first time in February 2021. Kyle is an amazing patriot and has sacrificed so much and to his mom and dad many will never know the bitter sweet feeling we have as we watch our children volunteer to become a hero. And even fewer will know the feeling of your baby becoming a super hero like Kyle. And to to many know what it feels like to know their child gave their all for what they believe in. The country we love and the freedom we enjoy have been bought in many many sacrifices of young military members and the family that love them. We will not let that all be done just to set back and watch our country ruined by her own people on her own soil. God bless all our military and the family they love and God bless America 🇺🇸

If this doesn’t kick you in reality nothing will. This is why most people that are free to choose join the Military. I don’t just mean the USA, I mean ALL Forces that are a voluntary enlistment. It is pride in the Country, Respect for yourself, a Pride in the People you serve with. You serve with great people in many different Countries sometimes, that’s what joining the Military should mean, .... it did to me even back in the late 70’s when people weren’t to hip on us at the end of Vietnam. Wow what a true story of a young Hero, a wonderful and inspiring young Man. That was truly very emotional just like John Chapman. I did cry and I am a 56 year old Man who doesn't care to admit to it, how can't you be. Kyle Carpenter is so humble and a incredible young man to go through what he did plus all the pain and operations. With Soldiers like John Chapman, Kyle Carpenter and many who have died or received terrible injuries some life changing plus Soldiers who have survived or become Veterans, Wow these Men and Women are the best of there nations and Humanity, who give there lives for not only there military brothers and sisters but also for us civilians to keep us safe in our homes. There is no greater human on earth but those who serve to keep us safe. Even though Kyle Carpenter was a United States Marine we British Citizens owe him and everyone who has died, injured, serving or become a Veteran our Love and Respect. I don't know if I could have been that selfless, I thank the lord I never had to find out. I am so proud of this young man, yet I am so sad for him at the same time. Beautiful. Just Beautiful. This is exactly what we are fighting for here in the United States right now. We have a takeover of people that don't want moments like this,people that don't understand the sacrifice that many men before them have taken, people that will feel the admiration and love of 2 men that have never met each other, yet fight for.the common goal as brothers. For Freedom.

Only those whom have been in combat, understand the bonds built between Marines and soldiers in wars. The people to your left and right are not only willing to fight at your side, but just as willing to lay down thier live to protect yours. This young man, with the reverance toward all whom have come and gone before him, and inspiration of this to follow in his footsteps. His resolve and dedication are qualities that are often rare in today's youth, but obviously not lost on all. He is a very strong willed individual, never giving up or quitting. He is a testament to the power of mind over body. One can only see him in awe. He was willing to make the ultimate sacrafice to save his bretheren. That in no way can ever be ignored...

That's bullshit the knee has nothing to do with disrespecting the flag ....a fucking veteran was the one who told him to take the knee bc it wasn't a sign of disrespect....were you even in the military ....bc I was and I'm smart enough to tell the difference between kneeling to bring attention to an issue and disrespecting a flag
@SarahBASHful

I only hope more Americans start taking a knee for all of the black soldiers who have fought for their country only to endure inhospitality and discrimination from the country they have sworn and sacrificed their lives to protect. At the end of the day, the flag is a complex symbol. It’s not a person. And if we’re willing to put a piece of cloth over the lives and humanity of American soldiers and citizens, then that symbol loses its meaning entirely.
@jacobremillard
@jacobremillard 3 года назад
@@SarahBASHful in the same way that people fought in Vietnam only to be treated like filth when they returned? No one kneeled for the flag then. But because a bunch of millionaire athletes say they’ve been discriminated against, with little proof, it’s okay to? I’m just saying, there’s better ways to protest than kneeled during the national anthem or when a flag is being shown. Those things represent a country that cares enough about you to tolerate your disrespect. You wouldn’t be allowed to do that in a lot of places.

I would like to suggest that you watch the video on RU-vid about the Airman who was one of the medical corpsmen assigned to a Special Forces Green Beret squad and gave his life fighting alone to give the squad time to get on the helicopter and get out of an ambush. His battle is captured on IR film and he killed several Taliban and was hit and recovered and fought on even hand to hand taking out two more at the end. It is the most amazing demonstration of valor and sacrifice as well as fighting tenacity imaginable. God Bless him. Men like him are few and far between. I am not sure that I would like to be one of the Green Beret that let him sacrifice himself alone that day. I might have hoped and prayed to have had the courage to disobey orders and join him.
