they really need to stop with making Jay's character progressively creepier. I thought this was supposed to be a light-hearted comedy about high school kids - not a look into the life of a future sex offender...

It reminds me when Will is very against the fashion show but then Charlotte is a model and asks him to model and he changes his morals to impress a girl.

The UK characters are exactly real people you would meet in school. US. version are just gimmicky and unlikeable characters. Character analysis would be cool

The whole will suddenly liking Red Bull thing isn't original, in season 3 episode one of the UK Inbetweeners, will is heavily against the fashion show until he finds out charlette is in it then he changes his view because of it

Years ago I flicked on a random episode of US Inbetweeners and this was the episode I chose. I remember telling my mates that the plot was based around a Red Bull library and I honestly started believing that maybe I dreamt it up

I don't care if this is too soon to make this joke, but USA Jay Cartwright and Drake Bell seem like they'd get along really well

I know it gets a lot of hate but I genuinely like the US version more than the UK version. I think Jay is much more nuanced in the US version and Simon’s love for Carly is much more believable. Only joking, it’s pure clap and I hate it.

The red bull storyline is like the fashion show episode in the UK version.

In UK inbetweeners Will was forced to collect money for the school charity fashion show and used that as an excuse to take a stand against it and try to convince people not to come in. He then completely changed his mind as Charlotte asked him to model with her. The Redbull library seems to be an ineffective but original way to have a Will 180 plot line. UK is better as it isn't on the news and fuels a rivalry between Will and Alistair. Also because it isn't some new girl he is trying to impress it is Charlotte which he already has history with

the gag of will switching it up is like in the fashion show episode where will decides to agree with the fashion show only when he found out Charlotte was in it

US Jay is like a poorly written version of Seth from Superbad

Analysing each characters from UK Inbetweeners will be great. Starting off with 4 main, then their parents and side characters. Or analysing each episodes. Really looking forward to that mate!

Here's something you could maybe look at. They tried to remake Impractical Jokers over here with UK people TWICE, but they weren't 4 lifelong friends like the great original version is, they were just hired "comedians" & they actually tried to copy some of the most famous challenges & moments and pass it off as though they came up with the idea on the spot like the originals do. I struggled to make it through both first episodes when I originally watched them, was cringe af & not in a good way like the proper one.

Shameless USA version next apparently the guy who plays jay is also in that🤣

Christ, the US version has absolutely no standards as well as having no awareness over how unfunny everything they've done is. It's like the US version of Red Dwarf. It has no funny moments because they don't understand the way the originals worked.

Just watched through all of this series so far. V. interesting. One suggestion: it might be worth analysing a bit more WHY the US version doesn't work, ie. why this kind of UK comedy doesn't translate to the US. You could also compare the UK and US Office, for eg - an adaptation that worked really well, because I suppose the creators were able to figure out how to change the concept from a UK comedy to a US comedy.

This episode doesn’t really have an original storyline it’s obviously inspired by the fashion show episode. Will goes against something the school is doing and changes his mind when a girl disagrees. In UK Charlotte and in US Samantha

Why couldn’t the Inbetweeners be like the US Shameless show? The show did copy plots from the most of the episodes from the first series, but they did give development to some major characters and add changes that fits well into the US adaption.

One difference between the UK and the US Inbetweeners is that in the US Inbetweeners they were a year younger. In the UK they are in the lower sixth form in the first series and turn 17 in the first few episodes. In the USA they are tenth graders so turn 16 in the first few episodes. In the UK they are past the official school leaving age so do not have to attend school by law so they choose to stay on. In the USA they have to attend school until the age of 18.

The perfect American version of the inbetweeners would be a mix of Superbad and 21 jump street. Jonah Hill as Jay Michael Cera as Simon Fricken mclovin as Will Channing Tatum as Neil Tatum was stupid enough in 21JS to be funny as f but not brain dead like the Neil in the US inbetweeners that we got.

It’s a shame because the plot idea of an educational institution selling out to product that actively harms the students IS a funny idea and actually very fitting for an American version of the show… Oh, if only it was created via more competent hands.
