I have wondered if Putin is truly dying, as many "in the know" have reported and if he has forced this war on Ukraine because he is angry and wants to punish others so he is not alone in suffering. I do not think he has a soul, so he can feel no compassion. Ironically, he recently began highlighting the church in Russia, encouraging all to renew and practice their faith. He celebrates Christian Nationalism--NOT the celebration of faith separate from his government as our fathers sought for us in the US Constitution.
I was truly moved by this news report. Those warriors died defending their homes and families and the men locating their bodies and treating them with respect humbles me. God bless them all.

so greedy, sending live souls to perish and then wanting their corpses returned to make yourselves feel better. every soldiers lifeless husk should should be left to rot where its fallen, treated with the respect of only with some chemical process to delay the decomposistion and prevent scavengers from consuming it. let them lay there as a testament to the magnificent virtues and futility of war to be seen by anyone who passes by, rather then to accumulate them all in a central location of peace tranquility and honor that only goes to perpetuate the process, that could not be any farther from the opposite in the after life as those who fought lived and died. honor the lives and valor of those men by letting them be a testament to the reality of war for every child growing up who gets confused by the magnificence and meaning and weight and glory of statues, marble, names chiseled in uniform and nationalist flags flying in glory..lest they get confused by the real implications of joining them some day.

Military experts across the world acknowledge the way both living & dead Russian soldiers are handled by their own army to be egregious for any professional military or even most organized militias.
The USA continues to search for the remains of 1,244 soldiers in Vietnam, and 73,000 from WW II. Sadly, most of them will never be found. That is just one of the MANY reasons to not have wars! Thank you to these Ukrainian soldiers for making efforts to help support the families of those soldiers killed in this horrible war!

He also reported on the destruction of up to 100 militants of national formations and foreign mercenaries, including about 40 mercenaries from the United States, Great Britain and Poland, near the town of Krasny Liman in the DPR. How many more should die before America stops???

It must be an immeasurably difficult mission...to search for comrades that you know are potentially gone from you, to having to not only find them dead, but find their remains in this way. And afterwards, having to show respect to those who are part of the agency responsible. At any point these guys could've lost themselves in anger but they've shown stellar composure.

It's a grim reminder that war is a horrible thing. To pick up a soldiers boot with a leg bone sticking out of it shows an immeasurable tragedy yet heroism of young men who will fight to stand up to Putin's Russia.

If there was any further basis needed for supporting democratic Ukraine over Putin's fascism, the cruel disregard for human rights by Vlad's forces is sufficient. We know where these horrors lead. We cannot go back. Putin, and the global fascism supporting him, must be pulled-out root-and-branch, and in a manner that demonstrates why the cruelty they think makes them powerful is, in fact, what makes them weak. Respecting human rights can be difficult, but not nearly as much as the consequences of not doing so. We can't afford to have to learn this lesson the hard way yet again.
if you wanted to respect their bodies, you would let them rot where they fell, treating them with only a chemical to delay the process and strip them only of their name and nationality, so they can serve as a reminder to everyone who passes by or lives there what the true reality and outcome of war is. There is no honor in retrieving their bodies and bringing them to a cemetery to honor them besides making the living feel better about it, and to deceive the youth that their untimely deaths should somehow be encouraged in the future.

There is a video of surrounded Ukrainian soldiers. The man recording it was not bleating pathetically and cursing the officers. He stood proud, wanting to be remembered for the legends that they are. Defenders of the homeland. Real heroes.

My British uncle was killed during the Italian campaign in WW2. Right from the start his family had details of where he was buried, in Orvietto, Italy. I wasn't born then, but I always had a thing about this uncle. Now living in Australia, I visited his grave in 2002. The town cares for this cemetery - it is immaculate - and they still treasure the sacrifices made by these men.
Decades possibly. Back in the early '00s when I was stationed in Germany, they occasional had calls for volunteers to help the recovery details searching for WW2 remains.

When the war is over people will flock to Ukraine to pay their respects at the huge war memorials that will have been built that show ALL of the names of the Ukraine fallen. Their families still won't know because Russia refuses to take their bodies back and just lies to their families that they are deserters. They even went as far as blowing up the refrigerator trains Ukraine was holding the bodies in. No body no death pay to the family and they can also continue to lie to the Russian people about the number of lives lost.
