Present ultimatums, which means threaten. 3. Do not give one inch in negotiations, because there will be always people in the West, who will offer you something. 4. And in the end you will have one third or even one half of something you didn´t have before. The fear of Russias collapse by many Western politicians is outraging. Jon, one of my favorite tactics when working through a problem with a fruitbat is to illustrate absurdity with absurdity, which is the same thing you are talking about in the video. It seems to me that tactic may at times backfire, and the fruitbat thinks you are on their side. I love to do it anyway. Maybe when the fruitbat is relating the story to a friend, they may both understand the absurd absurdity I had presented. Usually that does not happen, sadly.

Regarding the meaning of the word Democracy. A democracy is by definition representative in nature. The word is a Greek composite, but it is not composed of ‘Demos’ and ‘Cratia’. Democracies are only strong if a good system of checks and balances is in place, to guard that all branches of power are balanced and responsible. In United States meanwhile Supreme Court, which should guard the constitution - rules against it and president gains power to disregard the law... Crazy... Under the US Constitution, the number of Supreme Court justices IS NOT fixed. Legislation could add additional seats on the court. If the additional justices support Rule of Law and Democracy, the court could revisit the immunity issue.

I don't know if we underestimate Trump's ability to put his point across. I see many commentators highlighting his word-salad, but his meaning comes through very clearly. His ramblings look especially dumb in writing, but as a life performance, which is how most of his supporters will interact with him, you kind of get his point and intent. So it's kind of irrelevant to criticize him on the grammatical structure of his speech. It just makes his detractors seem snobbish and elitist from the point of view of his fan-base, who have no problem understanding him.

JP, I'm an Australian, but also have American citizenship. I will be voting for Biden, but more importantly, I think most Americans will do the same and there will be a massive swing toward the Democrats come election day. These extreme events, including Trump's conviction and the Supreme Court's democracy-destroying rulings makes Biden's bad day during the debate look rather quaint. In fact, they make Biden's reaction that day more understandable and relatable. I am more confident now of a Biden victory than ever.

Thanks, as always for your commentary and analysis. As a center-right American, I am properly afraid of the Supreme Court's decision. Like you and I, many people can see the implications of presidential immunity in future presidents. The scariest thing, is that the justices are smart enough to realize this too, and are willing to move forward with it anyway. Makes you question what they have in mind for regarding our disregarding the results of the next election.

General comment. There are always political undercurrents in every society that manifest themselves through political discourse, organized political parties and representative governance. In an almost cyclic fashion they sometimes surface as political abscesses. Now, in several Western nations, it seems some parties both foreign and domestic are trying to intentionally and forcibly pop any such abscesses, forcing the puss to run freely.

If emotional abuse counts as a form of torture, then Flynn definitely was tortured. He was targeted severely by Democrats' lawfare, to the point of bankruptcy due to legal fees he had to spend in his own defense. He's one of many Trump associates (Roger Stone, Steve Bannon, Peter Navarro, etc.) who have received this maltreatment. These attacks are the epitome of the idea, "The process IS the punishment." I'm not going to say you shouldn't talk about this issue. It IS indeed important. And the SCOTUS decision granting immunity for elected officials for their official acts in the course of executing their representative duties SHOULD be immune from criminal prosecutions. The thing that is NOT exempted is any act NOT done in the course of pursuing their official duties. The question now is, what does this mean? What actions are not "in the course of an official's duties?" Some actions clearly fall outside the scope of an official's duties, such as when Biden strong-armed the former president of Ukraine to fire a special investigator looking into Hunter Biden's appointment to the board of directors of Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company, with its clear conflict of interest and self-dealing on Biden's part. Likewise, a hypothetical presidential action to assassinate his opponents would fall outside of a President's official capacities, because there is no Presidential power to murder political opponents. As always, the devil lies in the details. What will NOT serve the dialogue is hyperbole and false generalizations to conflate legitimate actions with some reductio-ad-absurdum example -- especially if the example is incorrect. As for Liz Cheney, she was one of two Republicans who helped Democrats to trump up the Jan. 6 events into a claim that Trump had stoked the insurrection. The actions of the partisan Jan. 6 Committee can be argued with considerable merit to itself be an insurrection, to damage Trump and his legitimate efforts to challenge the fraud-riddled 2020 election by accusing him of sedition. As such, if the assertion is correct that the Jan. 6 Committee's proceedings amounted to sedition vs. Trump or some such, then it follows that Cheney and the others could be legitimately prosecuted for such crimes. It's amusing now to listen to them and their PR flacks in the media howling that "TRUMP IS ATTACKING DEMOCRACY!!" No, dearie -- he is targeting YOU and YOUR FACTION MATES FOR YOUR CRIMES. And those crimes are not exempt under this SCOTUS decision, because criminal acts taken under the supposed purview of "official duties" are by definition NOT acts taken in pursuance of official capacities.

Remarkably there is no support for this decision in the constitution itself ... Basically, SCOTUS is agreeing with Nixon's statement "if a president does it, it's legal ...
