Kyiv is really really affordable even by Asian standards, let alone European. I've visited multiple high-end restaurants while I was there but I don't think I could've considered any of my meals "a splurge" since they mostly came under US$10 per person. Unbelievable value for money. That said, great video!! The bread looked really buttery & good.
wow you guys are so respectable in this video with your reviews and very kind with the praises! I guess that's what differentiates a traveler from an everyday Joe. I guess I got used to seeing Buzzfeed/Facts/etc videos of people trying out foreign food and really disliking some of the stuff lol so I was surprised at how polite and respectable you were. Living in the West you see food from all over the world (Mexican, Indian, Chinese). Eastern European food seems so basic or "bland" in comparison. So thank you for your enthusiasm and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in Ukraine! P.S. It's always ok if you don't like something; you don't have to like all off the food or touristy stuff 100%. I've got Ukrainian in my blood but I'm not a big fan of borsch >.
Thank you very much! Sometimes I almost feel those videos are done with encouragement for the people trying it to over-exaggerate their reactions. For instance, to spit out the food or something. We're lucky that we really enjoy most food that we try wherever we go.
I am traveling to Kiev and Lviv next month and I'm so glad I found your videos. I have made most of my plans of where to go and what to eat from what you did. I don't speak the language and I'm traveling solo but watching you guys has made me so much more comfortable. One question though, I hear tipping isn't necessarily at restaurants there. Is this true?

Skipped intro and instantly forwarded to the middle of the video to see what you've actually ordered and such. But then I've noticed that the location looks really familiar. And sure enough, it's Opanas, haha. Been there a few times when I studied at the Taras Shevchenko University which is obviously just across the road from the park. Reminded me of the good times. Just discovered your channel and already a big fan!! Im Korean, born and raised in Chicago - die hard Cubs fan! I am living vicariously through your channel and love your appetite for adventure and amazing food!! I commented on a different video but I saw so many that I cant remember where it is. When I saw Sam in Cubs gear while eating Korean food, that was the icing on the freakin cake to hit subscribe! Cheers to you both and looking forward to binge watching past videos to catch up.

Man...!!! I've watched several videos of yours... and... always it ended for me with going to a good restaurant to eat something you've had just been eaten on the video. I wonder, how you are abel to keep yourself in a good shape with such an amount of calories you are able to swallow!!! Thank you very much! Ah, that is awesome to hear. If we have a big meal out when tend to eat lighter at home. For example fruit and veggie platters with maybe some hummus and sliced meat instead of a higher carb meal.
This is typical tourists' place in the center of Kiev. Ordinary people from Kiev are NOT visiting this place but usually come to MacDonald of PuzataKhata where price for one full meal is 100 grivna, or 150 grivana, that is not very cheap too (for locals, for sure).
I would not recommend our domestic bear! :)) It is good to find real home-brew beer, not looks like home-made. If you want Ukrainian food, I would recommend to go to Karpaty to those people who run small business - a rooms for tourists in their houses.

Hi there, I'm of East Asian descent (Chinese) and I visited Kyiv just last year, I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly the locals in Kyiv were (random people trying to strike a conversation with you on the street), and service in restaurants were top-notch. To my surprise many people spoke English too and they were more than willing to help you find your way if you are lost. Completely debunked the stereotype that Eastern Europeans are "unfriendly and cold"

Try some Crimean tatar food! Thats something very local. In Maidan Nezalezhnosti there is one very good (and cheap) Crimean tatar- food restaurant. By the way you told about prices in transportation in Kiev in another video. My fathers homecity Zaporizzhiya(UA) and Dnipro, you can find tram wich coast only 1,5hrn(5cents). And metro in Dnipro coast only 2hrn(7cents).
Ate here the on Thursday. There is a possibility the ownership has changed or a chef has left perhaps. Would not recommend this place, you can find better for sure. Look at restaurants closer to Arena City for the best meals. Should add that I had the same dishes as Sam had and while we all have different tastes I can't see how anyone would like those dishes. They didn't look as good as they do in this video.

Guys, thanks for amazing video that presents our cuisine! But I've gotta tell you something. .. the main dish (duck) is not out traditional one. As oranges don't grow in Ukraine 😐. But it definitely was music to my ears to listen how much you enjoyed the rest! !!
