Over 2 and a half years ago I made the first version of this video when both products were recently released to the X-plane community. Over the years both aircraft have gone under substantial updates and improvements. This is round 2! This video is a comparison video of both the FF 320 and the ToLiss 319. I take both aircraft head to head and challenge the deeper systems and flight control laws in a series of maneuvers and procedures.

I think the biggest star should go to Toliss' customer service. They listen, admitted if something was wrong or inaccurate and they FIXED them. I think that is the reason, how Toliss is really improving compared to the time it was launched.

Real world bus driver here. Have used the FF 320 for the past 3 years to practice for sim checks etc. (Primarily system failures and practicing company procedures/ECAM protocols etc). However, I was always looking for more failure options reference systems which I found the FF 320 didn’t provide. In the past month (June 2021) I purchased the Toliss 319, and while the FF is definitely a better looking machine, the Toliss beats the FF hands down if what you’re looking for is the ability to set up numerous system failures, with a large menu system allowing you to set random faults/at varying times/speeds etc. The FF does similar but not to the same extent as the Toliss. The flying side of things (looking at the sights) isn’t really of much interest to me, it’s more the practicing the system failures while under real time pressure as can be provided in X-plane that’s of great use to real world bus drivers. Great video by the way. Love the channel. Always find you very willing to answer viewers’ questions.

@cedarkey

@@gustavoruiz7050 I haven’t tried it. Toliss or FF provide sufficient realism to not require me to purchase more software. As V1 says, the Toliss is more user-friendly when you wish to set up failures. The failures menu is quick and easy to use.

Another A320 rated Captain here. Thanks for your review. Previously I only used the FlightFactor A320 but decided recently to try out the A321 from ToLiss. It's a world of difference. The ToLiss plane is so much better in most regards (not all though). My main annoyance with FlightFactor is that they have done nothing about countless detailed step-by-step reproducible bug reports I filed over a year ago. Some of these bugs are minor, but some are a big deal like completely wrong logic of an engine failure after take off, just to name one. I have also compiled a bug list of the ToLiss plane and will file detailed bug reports. Let's see if they are more willing to fix them. One thing both planes get wrong is Vls not increasing to above green dot when the speed brake is selected. One other thing I don't like is the old systems they use (FMS, ND, TCAS, ADIRS). And there are several layering issues on the PFD and ND (some symbols should be on top / underneath others), not to mention the poor resolution of the displays. Although the systems in general are much better on the ToLiss, there are some errors, like when you do a raw data ILS with the auto thrust off, then go around, it doesn't go into OP CLB instead of SRS, which is wrong. I have also found one of the FlightFactor developers to be arrogant. Even when providing real plane video evidence of some issues, he was very stubborn to admit he was wrong with his implementation. Eventually he fixed it but was noticeably angry. Not professional.

To me the ff a320 always felt a bit more accurate/serious BUT the performance impact makes me go with toliss 99% of the time. While the FF a320 seems to be extremely heavy on performance (also on high end rigs) the toliss runs as smooth as the default cessna 172. where I get like 35 fps with the ff a320 i get 100+ fps with the toliss, and that just makes it so much more enjoyable to fly (i use a 144hz monitor) and landings and handling in general feels more precise with the higher framerate.

The thing I appreciate about the Toliss A319 is that is uses the Laminar data refs and the nave data from the GNS430 folder. Using the Laminar data refs enables the default settings in the Bravo throttle quadrant, whereas the FFA320 uses custom data refs and forces one to program the Honeycomb software. Using the GNS430 folder for nave data GREATLY simplifies updating nav data. Way to go Toliss!

@userSchlonsch
@userSchlonsch 3 года назад
While the Flight Factor might be the deeper simulation I think the Toliss Airbus fleet offers a lot more versatility for ablichten better price. You can almost get the a319 and a321 for the price of the Flight Factor. So as someone who has all these birds including the A321Neo upgrade and has started on the Flight Factor on a PC with severe performance issues my recommendation would bevor start your Airbus experience with one of the Toliss Airbus to get the most for your buck and have a flying experience that generally doesn’t lack any features. And if you want to really dive deep into the Airbus world then get the flight factor to appreciate all the extra little details (if your PC can handle it) I personally Fly the a321 most of the time and then do a little 319 and 320 action in between. That’s the good thing here, they are all different aircraft and it can’t hurt to have them all👍🏼

Right now I basically used one that I copy the FSL A321's engine data into A319 to get somewhat closer to 319-133 without winglets, few of them do operate on highland, but most of them are -115W and -133W. BTW for highland operation with 737, PMDG doesn't came with that option+RNPAR with RF capability, so I stick with iFly then...

To be honest, I had reservations about your last video; some things I didn't agree with, but this video was really well done and very objective. A+. The only criticism I have is how unweildy and unintuitive the Toliss stuff is (MCDU lag, 1-way manipulators), the FF just *feels* like a more polished presented product and probably should have gotten a star for that IMO...
@V1Sim
@V1Sim 3 года назад
Thank you for the response! Omg yes I did forget to mention the one way switch manipulation, that does drive me crazy sometimes, mostly just on the landing/taxi lights! The MCDU lag, whilst annoying is actually representative of the the real thing. If I tried to type as fast as I can in the FF320, in the real airplane I’d get all kinds of fowl ups because they do lag, some more so than others. But your absolutely right about switch manipulation, we can deduct a star or half of one just for that! 😉 cheers

What one star manipulators? you guys don't have all those lights and switches and buttons assigned to joystick buttons. I only look at overhead panel for preflight tests everything else commonly used is mapped to stick buttons. APU, APU start APU bleed all lights all signs, and webfmc for mcdu. Quality of life is important mouse clicking on stuff is way too aggravating no matter how well and intuitive those click spots are.

@@V1Sim Cool stuff. I am aware real FMCs are slow, however, I think when you're on a PC, it just "feels bad" to have a slow computer. Toliss has said this was not on purpose (It's because of XP10 SASL) and I think if a dev wants to do this on purpose, they should take Zibo's route and add the lag as an option for users to turn on if they want 100% FMC realism. Whilst I own both products, both heavily modded, I often still fly the FF A320 despite lower functionality because sitting in the FF A320's cockpit often times just *feels* better. PS. As per the A320 U's pitch sensitivity, I find decreasing the maximum deflection to 90 and the 50% mark to 40% (so basically taking 10% stick movement away) fixes this. The FF code seems to not play nicely with the maximum amount of movement XP gives it if you have a higher quality stick with a lot of sensitivity. The curve becomes too aggressive. I have a VKB Gunfighter and that's just my finding for you, and people reading.

Very good point on pitch FF320 sensitivity. Every FF plane have issue with pitch sensitivity, specially on landing. Toliss pitch sensitivity is much much better. I have both but, FF320 is in the hangar after, no more than, 10 flights. Simply both Toliss319/321 are better

There are some important points you didn't adress or i cannot understand your comment. The last beta of the FF320 for example has the FIX INFO implemented and the RAD NAV is completely implemented as well, not sure what you think is missing here? There are also MCDU functions that are missing in the Toliss and that are modeled in the FF like PERF-changing, SELECTED NAVAIDS etc. so i wouldn't say that Toliss-MCDU has significantly more functions. You can create custom waypoints and save them with the FF as well by the way. I cannot judge the exact performance behaviour of the aerodynamics and its absolute possible that Toliss does that better. But you didn't adress for example the simulation of the buttons by pressing them (with animation in the FF, without in the Toliss, giving a much better immersion in the FF). And you didn't adress as well the excellent simulation of the refueling panel in the FF, that is completely missing in the Toliss where you cannot reful in realtime. In the opposite you adress the possibility of changing options in the Toliss that is missing in the FF. I have the feeling your comparison is a bit biased in favour of the Toliss.
@V1Sim
@V1Sim 3 года назад
Thanks for you comments, no I’m not going to use a beta branch for comparison. Over 2 years since release, the aircraft still requiring it to be in beta for basic MCDU functions is unacceptable IMO. The basis of the flight tests in this video are based off the previous video I made so I am comparing the same things as I did in that video. Im not quite sure what you mean by “perf changing” as I can adjust perf and CI and even aircraft wear/perf FACTOR in the Toliss, not to mention the ability to toggle the aircrafts age and engine age to modify its performance, but you keep manually selecting navaids if you wish sounds fun! Yes the MCDU popout in the Toliss does not have button depresses either, one thing I noted on the original comparison video. However I’m glad to see the modified the pop-out to actually match the 3d pit. What immerses me, is an aircraft where I can go through an entire normal flight exactly as I would in real life. They both accomplish that. This video is more about key elements of each product. Thanks for watching!

@@windshearahead7012 I have all FSL 320 planes SL and X and to be honest with you from sim pilot perspective it is no longer that cut and dry. There is plane vs plane comparison and plane in sim vs plane in sim comparison. Plane vs plane with latest renditions of toliss it's a coin toss, again from sim pilot perspective Toliss has more operational features now for half the price like step climbs for example. Flip it around and FSL has fully integrated ground handling plus ATSU/AOC which adds greatly to RPG aspect, but if you factor in the sim sandbox P3D is absolutely monstrous, inflexible, user unfriendly, barely manageable application that spreads like a tumor all over your hard drive. If you factor that in, FSL for me is not worth time, expense and aggravation of installing P3D. It doesn't blow Toliss out of the water far enough to justify the pain. I've installed P3D for PMDG heavy boeings they do absolutely justify expense and pain IMHO since XP counterparts are not even close in quality and FSL was purchased later for contrast compare and role play. So it would be interesting to see what real world airbus pilot thinks of the two products in comparison.
