I agree that hades could profit from a buff to many weapons and playstyles It pretty much follows the same progression scheme as Dead Cells ( permanent upgrades ) so If you're looking to pog off - the first ~5 hours of hades are miserable, losing runs because you literally just dont have the damage or health - i can see where frustration might occur that said it is most definitely a rougelike

Inscryption's main game is 100% not a rougelike, but it's post-game content Kaycee's mod is due to it having a more of a reset (plus no act 2 or 3)

He seems to generally dislike games that require strategy instead of reflexes. Doesn’t make much sense considering Rogue itself is a turn based strategy game. Any “action roguelike” is actually a roguelite

I think what's funnier than the people getting upset at how ridiculous this tierlist is are the people who genuinely defend Dan and think he's baiting them, and not that he just genuinely doesn't have very good taste. It must be nice to live with your kind of optimism in the world! But either way, this shouldn't be news to anyone. Dan doesn't know that much about games, and nobody expects him to, we watch him for his personality, not his taste in video games.

I agree with everything I've played here aside from Slay the Spire. S rank game.

I love Binding of Isaac and it was my very first roguelike game. But Crypt of the Necrodancer, Hades, and Dead Cells are the holy trinity of roguelike games, they're masterpieces.

Balatro is fun, but it doesn't have the Depth that StS has, at least not yet, game hasn't come out so we don't know what it has to offer, while StS is in it's final form. StS to A, RoR to B, Dicey Dungeon to B, DD2 to B, Monster Train to either low B or high C. While I don't disagree on Hades not being great, saying it isn't a roguelike ((roguelite,) yes, we all know the difference. Weird thing to get pretentious over lmfao) is objectively false. Edit: Also Enter the Gungeon is insanely overrated C tier max.

Disagree with a lot of this list. Not seeing Atomicrops, Downwell, Undermine, Children of Morta, Loop Hero, or Neon Abyss(as someone else mentioned for the later). I love Monster Train, and Hades is definitely a roguelite(yes I get that its not exactly the same as a roguelike....but so many blur the lines and a lot on this list already falls in there) If you define a roguelike as a game that has no carry-over from game to game,unlocks, or upgrades then Dead Cells can't be a roguelike. It would fall into the roguelite category. The potion upgrade alone pulls it into roguelite territory. There are several on here I need to check out, and several I agree with like Luck be a Landlord is surprisingly super fun.

I thought we were gonna disagree on everything after dicey in F, but nah- we agree on alot. Dicey is a low C. Gungeon is hard overrated and is B, so many games do what it tries better. RoR2 is an A I think. Sts is the easiest S of all time. You're hard capping Hades isn't a Roguelike and is S.

Really? Hades is one of the best rogue-likes of all time, and you have Isaac at the top? It may be a classic, but by today's standards it's lacking. If you put Hades and Isaac two side by side, Hades has tighter combat, graphics, story and sound design, not to mention runs that are more dynamic due to RNG. Also streets of rogue deserves better, its one of the most unique roguelikes and offers some of the best multiplayer in the genre.

I agree with the S tier completely and the A tier contains all of my other favorite roguelikes. and I also didn't enjoy Hades very much. to my surprise this tierlist seems pretty accurate (to me)

The list has very few rougelikes. And by few I saw zero that I know and played, but some games were edited out. If your list of roguelikes has none of COQ, DCSS, CDDA, Cogmind, you are not doing it right
