The trees are part of the 2nd circle of Violence: "Violence against oneself" In Dante's Inferno, suicidals are punished by being turned into a tree which will be attacked by harpies. they don't look like people, the trees are people

I like that the earthmover tries to shoot you but another earthmover at the other side of the map shoots him first

something i find cool about the earthmover is the first bit of its name, 1000-THR. in the language of the signs on it, japanese, 1000 is read as "cen", so when you say it out loud with that in mind, its like "centhor", a combination between centaur and thor, which is fitting since these things literally use a lightning rod to charge their absolutely gigantic railcannons to practically throw lightning at anything in their way... unfortunately for them, V1 was made at the end of the war, likely to completely counter earthmovers with sheer agility and unpredictability

A little detail: In 7-4 all the explosions in the background is a different earthmover firing its beam into the one you are climbing, but it's shield blocks the beam. You can see the other earthmover in the distance. Also that earthmover is being controlled by a plushie of a person in the ultrakill credits

Hakita cooked for 7-4, that's just fact, he said in 7-2 "see that thing? you're gonna fight it" and then he made us fight it, but man, earthmover was SICK

7-4 Was an absolute spectacle, it's insane to see how far this game has gotten

I really like the infighting in 7-3 it makes you feel like you are in the middle of an active warzone and the enemies don't even see you as the most important threat

What makes 7-4 so morbid is that there is presumably colonies on all the Earthmovers, but none of them can do anything to stop the shooting. Also, it must be a throwback for V1 to go back to fighting the Earthmovers, considering they were his first victims.

7-3 is such a good level. The aesthetic is immaculate. "Suffering leaves Suffering Leaves" doesn't have a combat version, and I think that adds so much to the somber atmosphere. Hakita has absolutely got the sauce.

I don't know how Hakita was able to do it. But the third level in violence just really hammers it in, that all humans are dead and so is the world. While in Dante's Inferno people who committed s**cide were turned into trees to be pecked by harpies forever. I didn't remember that during my play through so, I just thought everyone who's nature was defined by violence went there. So, I saw the trees and just sat there thinking. These people whose life is all about violence, now just exist as trees. Unmoving, eternal, silent. And there you are, a robot who can only exist as long as violence exists on the last gasp to struggle to live on. Killing relentlessly in a forest of trees who were created through violence. and all of this, just an attempt to not shutdown forever. Humanity is dead Blood is fuel Hell is full But what after that?

the fact that merg completely accidentally got a +CHARGEBACK at 3:26 made me stop and rewatch it a few times just to make sure i wasn't crazy

In 7-4 if you take a look the earthmover is fighting an othrr earthmover in the far distance, however the shield they have is preventing the thunder beam from killing them

I like how in 7-3 V1 uses a flashlight whereas in that one pyramid level ... you're forced to pickup a torch Seriously though, I can't believe how big of a gap there is in quality between ACT 1 and ACT 3, I really love where this is going Also, 7-3 kinda reminds me of Imscared, for some reason

A little tip: Be more careful with shooting the cannonballs. A lot of the times you use that railgun cannonball combo you damage yourself

7-3 is a near direct reference to Dante’s inferno, the sinners are those who killed themselves in life and since they gave up their body of life they will have body which is not their own in death, Dante breaks off a branch in this scene and blood spews out which is the only way the sinners can talk

When playing through this blind 7-3 hit me like a truck. I've never felt so sad playing an fps before. Those trees were just like me, but they never got better.

By the way Merg, the sharpshooter is able to insta-kill malicious faces very easily. Shoot the red orbs they shoot at you as soon as they come out and it'll kill them in most cases.

Fun fact: The Earthmover actual name is "Centaur", because, his original name is "1000-THR", 1000 in japanese is pronounced "Sen" and "THR" can be pronounced as "Thor" since the fact that Earthmover shoots lightnings. If you put the two words together it becomes "Sen Thor" which is very similar to "Centaur"

I remember reaching the Earthmover myself and the shock I felt upon realizing I had to fight that thing…

Fun fact: In 7-4, you can see several other earthmovers standing in the distance. One of them is fighting the same earthmover you are fighting, and they are constantly shooting giant lasers at each other throughout the level. At the very start of the level, the earthmover you destroy tried to shoot you, but was interrupted by the other earthmover at the last second. And if you use cheats to fly all the way to the other earthmover, you can see that there is a giant dev plushie riding it!

I suggest you look back at lv 7-1... There might be "someone" waiting for you. You might need to place the blue skull somewhere special for you to find it.

The Guttertanks' Terminal Entry state that every model of machine was made to counter the previous. The THR-1000's Terminal Entry states that it was the pinnacle of the Final War. V1's model was never fully completed or run out. *V1 was made to counter the Earthmover.*

7:27 if you slide into a jump you can jump while you have the sliding hitbox, making you small enough to get through that. That's also how you get one of the orbs in limbo.

The secret level is still not out. By the way, I highly recommend doing the secrets especially in 7-2 because based on the history of past updates I predict the next update will add something very hype, including the secret level, also I predict that the secret level will be a Street Fighter minigame

Fun fact about V1 and the earthmovers I learned from tumblr. Each machine made for the war was made to one-up the last machine that was used, and counter it specifically. The earthmover was the last machine used in the war. The last machine _made_ for the war, however, was V1. V1 was made to counter the earthmovers. _This is V1's purpose._ And that's also why V1 has made it to this point, because it was designed to take down titans many times larger and stronger than itself.

Earthmover has to be one of the coolest bosses in terms of looks. When I first walked into the level i looked up and I was in shock because of how big he was. Then I learned I had to climb him which made everything 10x cooler. Also thank you so much for your content Merg. You are the reason I play Pizza Tower, Ultrakill, Undertale fangames, etc. So, again, thank you so much and I hope you had a good Christmas.

i cannot believe merg is down bad for the hell trees. also fun little thing i just discovered: you know how shooting a core eject from the blue shotgun’s alt fire with the malicious railcannon will cause a very big explosion? well, we’ve got a bigger boom now. if you keep a freezeframe rocket still for more than 1-2 seconds (you’ll be able to tell from a visual sparkle cue and audio sfx) and shoot it with the malicious railcannon, it creates a big enough explosion to cover the ENTIRE CYBER GRIND ARENA. you actually have to dash out of it to avoid getting hit. fun stuff. edit: well nvm the rocket ultranuke is gone now, the blast radius is much smaller now and it’s no longer a red explosion like core nukes. it was fun while it lasted…

7-3 is by far my favourite level in the game so far. If you know the context of what this level is supposed to rappresent, I find this level to be really depressing. I was genually getting emotional the first way through playing it. I genually felt like a monster while killing enemies for a moment. To coclude, while it could be argued that part of the lifting is done by knowing the context, I also believe that most of it is thank to the honestly beautiful way this level is designed and in particular in how everything is delivered with such perfection.

Tips for P ranking this layer if you decide to do that :3 Sorry if this counts as backseating!! play how you want obviously Guttertanks die quickly to saws like everything else, as well as rockets. I know you can freeze their rockets, but personally I don't really like to do that because of the big explosions when they are buffed. But if you DO want to freeze the rockets, you can ride them back into the guttertank for an instakill. It's REALLY difficult to do though but feels really rewarding. Parrying the mines they place back at them also gives more STYLE if you want to do that. And for the Guttermen, you can parry their punches once their shield is gone. It gives you free HP and makes their tracking worse again. Once their shield is gone, they are pretty free anyways because their defense is gone. Also, try to knuckleblast the "coffin" on the back once the gutterman falls over. It has a pretty cool easter egg on the back. You can also jump on the coffin for it to explode if you didn't already know that. For the challenge on 7-1, it's best you try looking for secrets since one of them has a hint on how to unlock the secret encounter. Also, 7-1 took the longest for me to P-rank because of the time constraint (7:15). You need to memorize where to go and kill everything quickly. For the second "minotaur" encounter, you can place a magnet on it and saw it. The saws will hit when it rams you. Oh and by the way, the Secret Mission / Alt Weapon isn't out yet. So you don't really need to look for those.

the reason why in the third level every tree looks like a person is because in dantes inferno violence was divided in 3 different layers violence against others violence against oneself and violence against god in violence against others those who killed or make some kill other person are eternally drown into a river of boiling blood wich you can see in 7-2 violence against oneself is the layer you go after killing yourself, god takes your suicide as a rejection to your mortal body, so he decides to turn you into a tree and let you on the suicide forest, condemned to being tortured by harpies and i thinks kinda obvious to see this in 7-3 and violence against god is the last layer before fraund, i don't remember how you can commit this sin but the punishment is being on a desert where it rains burning ashes. 7-4
