Hi Wi Shoeguy, I have 2 pairs of Alden NST Shell Cordovan. I initially started with 7D but after wearing for 9-10 times, I still feel it clamping my feet! I then purchased another pair with 7.5E, it is much bigger in size and I just found it too spacious! The hide is just too hard to break in. Not comfortable at all!
Henry Kissinger some Alden lasts are tricky and their double sole shoes are stiff and folks have mentioned how hard they are to break in. I never had that problem with my 2210 on the Aberdeen last but what I did was stick with my normal length and add a width. So from an 11D in other Aldens to 11E in Aberdeen. It’s their narrowest last and that’s what worked for me.
You’re not wrong. Bluchers is a specific type of derby. Since the other two pairs were traditional derbies for the weekend I left these as Derby’d but this pair fits the blucher definition.
@@wishoeguy They look extraordinary! He is quite price competitive, which makes me wonder how he could afford to surpass the quality of EG or PS. Do the Ams also fit the same as your Dovers?
My Centurion unlined are a size smaller. I’ve decided to go with a custom last for future work with him. This is more price competitive to EG but the quality and details are a step up in some ways and importantly he and his small team are doing the work by hand.

I have another handmade shoe with a goyser welt and it’s 360. Unfortunately that means the heel is even bigger. I will do a comparison video on other hand welted shoes and another high end shoe video to compare the impact of the welt, heel, waist, etc. I will say that 360 welts are quite uncommon outside of Allen Edmonds and Heinrich Dinkelacker. Most brands in my collection are 270.
Hey Jeff, I considered making them in 360 welt but it was too much. However it works superb on the wholecuts I have on my shop. I felt that the 270 was spot on for the proportions of this shoe
I’m considering picking these up from Kostas. Can you comment on the color at all? Do they lean more towards the burgundy/purple/red hues? Or do they appear more brown? Thanks for any input! Love your material!

Discussion please: a clunky appearance is disadvantageous when it’s Allen Edmonds but super great when it’s a super expensive brand! Somehow many arguments go against AE, which is a great brand and I support them especially as the are Made in USA
