+ThePreciseClimber so did Crash for all 3 games yet we still got a racer anyway, and it was glorious. I'd like a double dash style racer staring all their major characters in a stylized Cell shaded manor Joel and Ellie can join too....they like car rides lol
I liked the game and the franchise as a whole very very much. Everytime I hear that theme I feel drawn back into the snowy mountains of the Himalayas, the desert of Rub' al Khali or the tropical islands.
yeah to be fair the clip he used to show U2's graphics isn't from the finished product, it's from a teaser that was shown prior to release, U itself looks wayy better than that, but I still get what he meant
Am I the only one who thinks this game is a solid 7/10? I don't mean that the game is majorly flawed or something, but rather that due to the good things it does, it deserves a 7.
I think the story and characters is what won it over for reviewers, including myself. The awesome gameplay, incredible graphics, and good pacing doesn't hurt either.
+Dan1104xv You forgot to include "in my opinion" in the beggining of your post. Not that I think that U4 is the best game ever or things like that, but let's not think that our "opinions" are the absolute truth, ok.
Just discovered this channel....AND I FUCKING LOVE IT!!!! I love your focus on games with gameplay over story/graphics/bullshit. Keep up the stuff! Would love to see your 2016 e3 recap.
Since when did 30 fps become "broken"? Tons of classic action games run at 30 fps (Kingdom Hearts 2, Metal Gear Solid 1-4, a few of the Ratchet and Clank games, and so on)
That's because some people would rather SEE what they're looking at. Not things being super blurry and hard to spot. Heck such as the fist fights in the Uncharted Series.
I couldn't stand the amount of downtime the game has, They really nailed the feel of the combat this time around, it was so much fun but theres not enough of it and its sprinkled between so much walking and climbing and block puzzles and cutscenes. The Writer, Druckman actually commented on this complaint in a really patronizing way basically criticizing people for only finding joy in the killing sections, but I think what he and Naughtydog in general fails to realize is that people prefer the combat not just because of the amount of heads exploding on offer, but because it offers the most depth of gameplay, the most interactivity and most amount of player choices. All these other sections are just such a bore in comparison.
I dint think the combat is great by any means.mhesdshots still don't even fuckimg register properly, and there's various other flaws with it. But it is the best thing about the game, and we certainly didn't need more walking sections. Neil Druckmann was very arrogant about a lot of things. It's so ironic that GamingBrit done a video complaining about this in games, yet he's willing to give it a free pass here, despite this game having much more of it than some of the games he mentioned.
I mean yeah the combat isn't particularly astounding but its still a lot of fun and like you said its the best part of the game. Recent interviews have definitely made me like Druckmann less and less, all I can say is I hope he stays as just a writer and is not a director because I dont think he understands games as well as he likes to think he does.
+Miyazaki68 You, some random dude on the internet, thinks that Druckmann doesn't understand games as much as he does? For someone that had the same role on The Last of Us, which arguably got the most critical praise ever, I think he knows way more than you and I seeing as how critics and many people loved TLOU and Uncharted 4. The game is not perfect, but if you didn't like it, then that's your taste and not Druckmann's incapability. If you like fastpaced shooty shooty bang bang, then there's plenty of other choice for you on the market. Go get em!
I actually quite liked TLoU and U4, though U4 a lot less so. You yourself say you acknowledge they have flaws but are taking issue with me pointing out those flaws? You are also taking issue with me pointing out that Druckmann saying these flaws were intentional and make the games better, and that I think this is a bad thing. You've taken some random dude not being head over heels over your favourite games a bit too personal here bud.
I've taken nothing personal bud, I only pointed out your jab towards Druckmann being weak. Every game has flaws, but that's all subjective. Druckmann did not say ''these flaws were intentional''. That's your opinion, not flaws in his eyes. Again, if you want a faster paced shooty shooty bang bang, you know where to go.
Nice video. I loved the game and it's good to see GamingBritShow finally enjoy an Uncharted game lol. He doesn't seem to be much of a fan of modern cinematic titles so this was a suprise video
There were some really nicely-edited montages in this video! The way you cut those super-intense action moments with that dramatic soundtrack really did feel professional.
I'm gonna be honest, this was my least favorite Uncharted story. It was missing something that the others had that made them so enjoyable. It's not bad, but I didn't have that sense of excitement I had while playing through the last three. Also, Nadine's character is soooooo useless in this game. All she really does is fight Nate twice, argue with the main villain, then fuck off, you never actually get to kick her ass. I also felt there was a bit too much climbing. I know a big thing about the series is Drake's ability to scale pretty much anything, but there were times when the action would end and you'd spend the next 20 or so minutes climbing a mountain before running into another fight. Oh, and this may be a nitpick for some, but the big location of this game, the pirate haven was such a let down to me. We go from Shambhala, an ancient city full of stone temple, inhabited by blue men, to Ubar, an arabian city where you fought Djinn possessed soldiers who would throw fireballs at you, to...Libertalia, broken down shacks with no unique type of enemy. I don't know, it just felt like lacking when compared to what's come before. That's not to say the game was bad, the characters still retain their great personalities, the action set pieces were fun to play through, the gunplay was still solid, and the graphics were fantastic, some of the best I've seen so far this generation, and the grapple hook was fun to use. Still, Uncharted 2 remains my favorite.
PudyMaster That's my biggest problem with the game industry, they throw diversity in just to appease the SJWs and feminists. To me, if you're character is designed to be a male character, leave him that way. Screw diversity if it means letting them dictate what I can and can't have in my game.
Thanatos388 Because they're afraid. Feminists and SJWs now have the power to get people fired if they lash out at them. Heck, last year the prevented Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 from coming to the U.S just be screaming that the women in that game are sexualized.
I went back in time and brought this game with me, to show it to a psx gamer in 1997. A Crash Bandicoot lover, to be precise. He joined, killed his future self and took his place. He is now with us in 2018.
It is widely debated as to which is better ; Uncharted 2: Among Thieves or Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. I like both of them equally. But I think where they differ in quality are in the pacing and story telling. Among Thieves seems to have the better pacing where it does take it's time to slow down to show some good character development and then jumps you right back into the action. A Thief's End does this well too, but when it does slow down it can really drag. However, when it comes to the story telling, upon closer examination since A Thief's End does take it's time to slow down even more and have some quieter moments (Nate and Elena's house, the Jeep driving in Madagascar and the Epilogue) we are shown far more character growth and develop a much deeper connection to them than in any of it's predecessors.
10:22 Ok, I don't think that MGSV being open world added much to it (I think I would've enjoyed it just as much it it was a series of Ground Zeroes - esque levels), but that game was AMAZING. story was ass though.
Bro finally someone who doesnt blindly praise 3. it was such a disappointment. from story structure to the story it was just Uncharted 2 but taking itself way more seriously. Loved U4, easily my favorite of the series.
there.. my like button. Impresive, everyone knows Uncharted 4 is awesome. but, you stood up and mention some flaws in game. its like balancing counter reaction. i do like it.
+Jack Daone I don't think TotalBiscut comes close to Matthewmatosis. Also Super Bunnyhop, Joseph Anderson, NitroRad, Somecallmejonny, DXFan619 and Projared are pretty great too.
Biscuit's top for me. That snarky tone of voice he takes even while objectively analyzing stuff is a treat. But I love Matthew's in-depth reviews, really helps make me think.
What make's Charlie's channel is the constant cheeky humour. Not many other game reviewers on youtube have his quirky, snarky charisma. Hyperbithero's quite like this too.
I think Uncharted 4 is the best game of the series. The story is more mature while still not being "2 deep 4 u", Nate gets more character development and in all the other games combined, the villains are the best uncharted villain (not like that's saying much, but Marlowe had 3 scenes and Lazarevic was a walking cliche). Although the combat is also the most refined, sometimes less is more and all the encounters feel a bit more organic (not to say that all of them make sense). Climbing is even better with amazing animations and great levels, and secondary characters are as lovable as they have ever gotten. Please keep in mind this is my opinion, don't rustle your jimmies.
You do know that you can turn off the motion blur in the options menu right? Much like God of War 2018. It also improves on the frame rates where things seem 60fps.
Great video. As someone who decided to ignore all of the consoles this generation I have to ask, was the PS4 worth its price? Yakuza 0, Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 look great but I couldn't justify buying a whole new console for those three.
I personally think so as well. Uncharted 4, Bloodborne (Especially Bloodborne) and even Until Dawn I would say make the system worth getting, even if you are on PC, ESPECIALLY if you are still with the old consoles. Theres also all of the other lovely third party games and some of the HD remakes are top-notch.
I found the game to be terribly paced and it dragged way too much for me by the end. They really skimped on the set pieces too, which is a shame. Oh, and 30 fps games need to die a horrible death, especially when they combine it with some of the worst motion blur imaginable.
30 FPS isnt always bad, play Bloodborne and tell me the game isnt perfect when it stays at 30 FPS but for this game, yeah, it needed to be 60, when you play the Multiplayer and feel the difference, you just dont feel like touching single player again.
Skimped ion the set pieces? Are you serious? I can name you 5 or more setpieces in Uncharted 4, not every setpeice means explosions. One of the problems with Uncharted 3, it was a rehash of 3 with different setpieces, but laid out the same way.
They wanted a more balanced pace of the story. The quieter moments highlight the action. Look to Metal Gear Solid 3 for example. That, by definition is an action story, yet there are so many slow sections of the game. If Uncharted 4 relied on constant adrenaline like Uncharted 2 or 3, I think people would be complaining that this just felt like all the other Uncharted games.
***** Except MGS3 was a stealth game, with much more in depth mechanics. In those dull moments, you had hunting for animals/plants, exploration, keeping an eye out for traps, etc. Uncharted has the depth of a puddle, and filling over half the game with some of the most shallow climbing/platforming was a change for the worst. It's even more egregious when you consider there's no incentive to explore whatsoever (and no, I don't count those gimmicky collectibles that don't affect gameplay whatsoever).
Well I beat the other Uncharted games, this one I couldnt be bothered to complete and I got it on release date so that tells me a lot about the game. The gun play, platforming, set pieces are all better than the previous games but somehow this ends up being a worse game because of how slow it is. Spending half the game not doing anything is bullshit. Exploring worked in the Last of Us because of the setting of the game and how "tightly" you had to manage resources, in this game, there's no need to do anything but move from shooting section to shooting section so they force you to move boxes around, fuck that shit.
I really hope with some of the stuff this game has that Naughty Dog doesn't go full blown walking simulator or cut-scene director simulator for their next game.
I liked Uncharted 4; but the slow pace and relative lack of action makes for a game I'm not eager to replay anytime soon. Also, am I just bad at the game or is going in guns blazing basically suicide on the higher difficulty levels? I started out on Crushing only to lower the difficulty back to Normal in one of the later chapters because I got so frustrated with dying at a certain section.
Fantastic video Advice: This video spoils quite a bit about this game. Not necessary story spoilers but if you watch it you'll know all the environments and you'll know that character X is in environment A while character Y and Z are with you in environment B (which means you know what to expect). If you need to know if the game is awesome: it is, go play it now and watch this when you're done to hear his thoughts on the matter.
Or you can just listen to it like I did. Really makes me want to get the game since I've played the series since the first game. Now I just need to *ahem* borrow my friend's ps4 to play it...
I appreciate the Crash Bandicoot background music :D I wish NaughtyDog would make a Spider Man game. I can't stand Nathan Drake, but I love the action-y acrobatics so that would be perfect.
Each new console generation seems to age slower. The only exception to that rule was the 5th gen where the devs had to go back to basics due to 3D graphics. But yeah: Gen 1 - aged A LOT Gen 2 - aged a *bit* less but still a lot Gen 3 - aged fairly decently Gen 4 - aged really nicely! Gen 5 - aged pretty poorly Gen 6 - aged pretty nicely! Gen 7 - aged *really* nicely Honestly I still consider a few late 6th gen games to look really awesome, like Splinter Cell Chaos Theory or Conker: Live & Reloaded. And yes, Uncharted 2 has barely aged for me graphics-wise. It still looks fantastic 7 years later. Which is a testament to my "gen aging" rule.
A slow or less interesting beginning isn't as bad as mid or late game, cause everyone is paying attention in the first part of any storytelling format.
Sonic Adventure has you run down a skyscraper while avoiding incoming collisions, avoid cannon projectiles on an air-ship, jump between two fast moving trains through a tunnel, run along walls, and fight a giant water god on a river in an over-flooded city IN THE YEAR 1998. ...my bad, got distracted. I'm kind of on the fence with 2/3, they both have their merits and Amy's writing is always amusing.
If this game had the option to use gyro aiming like in uncharted golden abyss, I think it would play much better. Shame that they didn't add it in a patch
@@theninjararar it is a massive shame bluepoint didn't add it. I mean sure, you can use it on steam. But if it natively used the gyro on ps5, it would be amazing. But as is, what a huge missed opportunity
It's the best part of the entire series. They've improved on every aspect, from the gameplay (let's be honest, they climbing hasn't evolved at all during the series, so it was about time) to the characters and managed to give everything a bit more depth. I don't know many series where the final instalment is the best one... but in this case that's certainly true.
Fuck! You are saying all my points i've been making about this game! Like with the box pushing! It hits a point where it's like "is this fun?? do you find this fun? Is this even a game?" I'm surprised you didn't mention the hand holding either, "Nate, we should look for a box or something" "Hey Nate there's a box over there" *icon appears over box* that's not a puzzle... But gorgeous, fun game! haha
That seems universal in gaming (especially recently). Wanna better graphics? Give us dem moneyz! And often! Quick! Get a new PC! Get the PS4k! Get the >NEW< 3DS now with working 3D! --- Frankly, I'm more into playing all the games I was not able to back in the day. Some original Xbox stuff, GBA, DS, PS2, DOS etc. There are so many old games waiting to be played. TimeSplitters 2&3, Voodoo Vince, Quest for Glory, Rayman 1, portable Castlevanias, Legacy of Kain, Darksiders etc etc. ; Last year was the first time I have ever played Ocarina of Time! :P
Exactly. I don't know why people have such high standards for consoles. It's a box worth like $300 in certain stores right now. Of course it's not going to run as good as a PC. I understand demand for good performance and good visuals, but since when did 30 fps become "broken"? Tons of classic action games run at 30 fps (Kingdom Hearts 2, Metal Gear Solid 1-4, a few of the Ratchet and Clank games, and so on)
"In few years graphics will be unimpressive" Well... still impressive XD And PS4 Pro can run at 60FPS XD I think you overestimated how fast game industry work. Or how slow rather.
As i was playing the game for a few hours i felt dizzy and couldn't keep going.. I always thought i was just getting old and can't play games the way I used to.. but thinking back on it..that motion blur really is terrible.
Of course the single player mode is 30fps while the mp is 60, it's supposed to be more cinematic and visually striking. I guess having an option wouldn't hurt but so what.
Cut the bullshit 30 fps are not cinematic.Games are not movies they are not supposed to be cinematic. This is a a shit excuse for gamers with a crappy a GPU or a Console. The 2000 bucks you gave for your 70 inch tv and the 400 you gave for a ps4 could have easily been given to set up a beast pc with a 4k monitor.Get over yourself and stop with the excuses for shit choices you make every 4 years that a new console is out
Whats every reviews problem with frame rates? I dont usually experience any issues with it. I play PC and PS4 and if i even notice it, its no more than a minor annoyance. Not even an inconvenience. & TGBS. You can turn the motion blur off in the options menu.
