I keep saying to myself and to literally everyone I know: AGING IS A PRIVILEGE. We take it for granted, and have come to despise it, but we shouldn't. There are so many people who didn't get the chance to age, and we should keep it in mind.

Hence our obsession with eating healthy, crazy preventive care, etc. it’s like we go to extremes we wither a health nuts or we completely give up and go to obesity. Mark Twain was also a man who was never forced to seek out beauty, like most men aren't. So I don't really care what empty platitude he said. He also had a strange obsession with young girls which is documented but not popular to talk about since we all love romanticising male writers. And let me be clear, I'm saying chiIdren.

Hi. I am seriously thinking about one of your tips-- decrease sugar intake. I had been eating LOADS of sugar and carbohydrates, which your body converts to sugar, as I understand. I noticed a change in my skin-- more fine lines, cloudy looking skin, and thickened skin. I'm getting control over my eating addiction, and I hope my skin will improve.

Thank you, thank you, thank you....I “try” to explain to my peer group (70+) that we will NEVER have the face we had in our 20’s. I want to age gracefully and embrace the changes. Just enhance whatcha got. The beauty industry counts on scare tactics and how you can’t live a full life without the whitest teeth, smoothest skin, colored hair, etc. and they are making a ton of money off those fears. Save your dough and use it to travel, treat the kids/grandkids...whatever. I’m loving this channel!

Sixty years old and daily collagen supplementation has FIXED my painful knee joints. When I go off it (ran out, couldn't find it in the shop) my feeling of weakness and pain in my knees when climbing stairs comes back. After a few days on the collagen again, much reduced 'awareness' of my knees when climbing stairs, sometimes it's like being young again. Also my nails got much smoother and don't constantly chip and break. I haven't noticed anything special with my skin since taking collagen, but it definitely does two noticeably good things for my body. I won't stop taking it. I need to climb stairs, and collagen supplementation literally lets me live in a building without an elevator.

I love this anti “anti-age” comment!!! I’ve been saying this for 15 years! I’ve been an Aesthetician for over 25 years and I have never liked the term “anti-age” either! I replaced it many years ago with the term “PRO age”. This more adequately describes what we ALL are trying to accomplish! I want to age well. Not fight it! Rather FLOW with the aging cycle gracefully but by no means without tools! No I don’t mean injectables or surgery!! Follow this true and logical skincare advice from the good doctor and you will be rewarded with a beautiful complexion you can see and feel- more importantly- if you embrace your maturity you’ll be beautiful from the inside out with your confidence glowing from your eyes!

I really appreciate your approach in terms of importance of sleep, nutrition and not fear mongering about the sun. I know we should all wear our 30+ SPF daily, and I do on my face, but I think it's also healthy to get 10-20 minutes of sun on your arms/legs a day depending on where you live and time of year. I wish the US would follow the same kind of recommendations Australia does regarding sun exposure.
@keridwenx6457
@keridwenx6457 Год назад
I don't remember where I heard this, but I think I read somewhere that the most important sun exposure is in the eyes- we need to see strong sunlight at the correct times of day, at least for small periods of time, to regulate circadian rhythms. For absorption, independent of sunscreen, (besides the ~2% you still receive under sunscreen), you'll get sun exposure on your scalp, under your clothes, through your eyes; even more so if you go out into direct sun for a good half hour a day to have some tea. So I think you can have the best of both worlds without compromising sun protection. I appreciate your comment, because I agree and feel the biological importance of sun exposure gets forgotten sometimes after all the discussion of skin cancer and skincare! Shereen is saying be sensible, not be terrified.

Thank you! It’s my philosophy to age with grace and seamlessly (it’s what I’ve learned from my grandmother). It’s something that I’m teaching my 13 year old daughter. Love thy self by eating healthy, exercise, and taking care of your skin (face and body). My daughter has taken notice how everyone else looks versus her mother. Granted that I come from a family that age well and people never know our real ages.

thank you for your amazing videos. Your intelligence, enthusiasm and radiance is inspiring! Can you please do a video addressing wether we need to avoid products that cause burning for a few seconds after application? i’ve noticed this specifically after I apply my Cerave moisturizer that contains ceramides and niacinamides. Thank you!

Love watching your videos Shereene from Germany 🇩🇪! I am 39. For the past few years I am using more and more South Korean and Japanese skincare products and I really like them. They are relatively cheaper and as effective as the costly European/American products. Would be great to hear your expert view about them🙏🏼🌈

I agree (except for French and Swiss skincare products which tends to be highly effective for the most different skin types… American ones I would say it depends specially bc in American continent we’re going through so many information at once so many are good and many are not)!!

Thanks for your real talk about aging, it is so helpful to hear objective information rather than fear-mongering. Can you do a longer video about nutrition and skin and hair health? It is hard to sift through the pseudo-science out there on this. Thanks!

I'll be a lot grateful if you would try to recommend the products which are available in or atleast for the Pakistani population since I belong to Pakistan and its been really difficult to manage the products you have had listed. I'm really thankful to you overall. -Dr. Aden

hi shereene! this video was super helpful. i want to make a video suggestion based on your final comments about dermatologists - can you do a video on finding a dermatologist? how to look for one, do we need a referral, etc. it's super intimidating but as someone in their mid-20's, it's important to me to be as proactive as possible.

@wdjoseph1

WOW!@@allisonfenton2565 who are any of us to judge anyone's journey? Did you survive childhood trauma, or whatever got this person to where they are ( I try to make no assumptions)? You don't know their story (nor or I yours) This was actually a very brave and vulnerable question to ask and judgemental and dismissive responses are not helpful. This question is not helpful to people that are living a very different experience than you are. They are seeking advice to live a better life and dismissing their real lived traumas is not helpful. I honestly wish nothing less than the best for you and also the person that asked this question...and genuinely all of us are just trying to figure it out. Life isn't easy, let's just help each other along.

I’m not her, so forgive me for butting in. I wanted to share personal experience. I used to drink heavily as well. Due to health reasons I started to cut back, and went four months completely alcohol free. After 3 months alcohol free I got constant compliments from people in my “glowing skin” and saying how much younger I looked. Everyone was asking me what I was doing differently. I drink occasionally, and when I do, I wake up puffy and red splotchy skin, eye bags, droopy eyes. It takes a toll and it does show on the skin. I hope this helps.

Could you do a video explaining rosacea? I got diagnosed with it yesterday and have been battling with it for years. I’m kind of lost regarding what products I can and cannot use and what treatment options are. I’m at a point where I’m scared to try anything new because I have no overview on skincare anymore. I love your videos btw! ❤️

I heard some YT’er (maybe Wayne Goss) tell about a study, where people should guess the age of different persons - and it turned out, that it was not lines and wrinkles, that made people think that a person was older, but an uneven skintone…🤔
