I get asked about this all the time. I'm a Consultant and Manager at Slimming World, I also lost 3 stone in 3 months. My top top is and always will be, speed foods. Sometimes people can get a little confused, or read incorrect information on other sites. Hence why I decided to make this quick and simple video. It might just be something you can change to boost your losses. Please feel free to share comment or like to help fellow sw members.

Really helpful to be reminded of this! My speed food intake has pretty much died these past few weeks but this video has given me the gentle nudge to get it back on my plate again! 😊

I'm really embracing the speed food at the moment thanks to your videos , and I can honestly see a difference in the weight loss, to when I'm not focusing on speedy options , I love at the end of the day when I look down my weight loss planner and it's full of S & P 😊. Thanks for the motivation x

so i could have porridge and milk (a&b) topped with strawberries for speed. weetabix (b) with yogurt and berries for speed. a bacon sarnie (b for bread) with some mushrooms on it or a tin of tomatoes on the side. i can get the speed in with other meals just fine its just breakfast i struggle with. if i make a curry i serve with brown rice mixed with cauliflower rice to ensure the speed is there or just have cauli rice with it if its an sp day. love slimming world. my loses are slow (scenic route) but im getting there xxx

isn't it frustrating, people love the attention putting on video's on here but dont bother answering questions, its the same service you get on the paid for slimming world online, you try to go on the chat - not available. you can ring the syn line - extortionet price to pay for the call., Its no wonder so many people join the huge facebook groups for free

"so i could have porridge and milk (a&b) topped with strawberries for speed." That's actually not a good example. The strawberries you are adding would be adding calories in this instance. A better example would be a plate of fish, Slimming World chips with a third of the plate covered with speed veg, which would REPLACE something on that third of the plate which is not speed. Don't add calories, replace them.

The video isn’t titled correctly. It explains what is expected of the slimmer to do, but does explain why it is important. We know the aim of the diet is weight loss.

+ChaCha Smith it is clear in the video why it's important. If you're a member you should know this already. This is just to clarify further. Speed foods are low in energy density. Therefore adding them to the plate reduces the calories of the meal. It's also not a diet. It's a healthy eating plan and a lifestyle change.

Hi Nikki, love your vlogs.. I joined the online SW today mainly because I wanted to have access to the app so I can see (whilst shopping) how many syns are in things or what is classed as a speed food etc etc. Where is this section on the app to search foods (not just recipes?) Thank you, really appreciate the help. Shannon x

Love this, just wondering why if you add speed food to cereal etc won't aid weight loss? As I thought that more speed you choose the more you lose.

You're just adding more food. ie more calories so it's optional. With main meals you're replacing foods with speed with healthy extras you're adding it x

Hi Nikki great tutorial , but I am a veggie and new to speed food, soooo what advice would vegetarians need....would it be the same, as you have mainly meat dishes in your tutorial......very helpful.....Eigget

Saw someone share this on fb, came straight here and subscribed. I joined sw a month and a bit ago and lost 3lbs my first week but i didnt fully stick to it that week so thats good i think. I then craved chocolate so badly and I know you can syn it but i found i couldnt stop at my syns and ended up getting a bit out of control and i put on more weight and haven't gone back. I'm joining another group tommorow as the time is better for me and i plan on sticking to it, ate on plan all day today. I'm just scared i guess.. its hard to explain and will sound really weird! Im always hungry and i know its because what i was eating before was fattening so i ate less but was more full. I know you can eat lots on sw but to me i worry im putting on weight by eating loads lol i know thats not the case! But if i keep eating then i think im eating too much fruit or veg but i dont think that when i eat a big multipack of crisps :( XX

Quick question, I don’t like a lot of speed foods so I try to add them in when I can. But if I was to just fill 2/3 of my plate with free food and leave 1/3 of the plate empty would this work the same? As I’m consuming less calories ? Or does veg actually speed up your weightloss? X

Hey lovely it's more to fill the plate and you with lower calorie foods. Having speed on the plate means you're still feeling full but on less calories. So if you eat a small portion thats fine. Speed foods are also full of vitamins, minerals, fibre and so on x

If I had a big salad for lunch so a lot of speed food, then for tea hardly had any speed food, does that balance out for the day or are you meant to still have the 1/3 speed food with that meal xxx

Hi Emily ideally it's 1/3rd speed with each meal, but if at times you can't fa e it, don't force yourself xx

Thanks for this, can I check, if I make for example a spaghetti bolognaise, is the speed food I add into this with the mince ( onions, mushrooms, celery, onions etc) part of the 3rd of a plate ?

+Sally Houlsby I would personally still add 1/3rd to the plate as it reduces the amount of pasta. However if you know 1/3rd of the overall meal is speed food, you should be ok

Hi, if I make a spag Bol with lot of speed food in it does that count. Would normally add onion, mushroom, courgette, carrot and celery.
