I'm running a CTS downpipe and intake with stock exhaust on my 17 GLI with Unitronic stage 2. I agree, it's ideal for me as well. Sounds really clean even when you get on it.
@@TheDarkPs3 nah, no crackle tune. you would have to get someone to custom tune for pops and bangs on the gli. unless the new IE tunes being tested have that as an option. personally, i think i would get tired of hearing it unless it only came on while in sport or manual mode (dsg) lol
Great video and I'm glad to see you back! To elaborate a little on pops and bangs, the answer is yes...they are in fact bad for your turbo and cats. The pops can eventually cause damage to turbo bearings. Damage to the cats is self explanitory but for those wondering if it can damage the turbo, yes it can. Just think of an explosion in the exhaust. The explosion can travel back up to the turbo and wear it out faster. BUT, these instances are rare.
My exhaust setup is a 3” catless downpipe, an ECS Tuning exhaust cutout welded into the downpipe, and the rest is completely stock. Tbh, I drive around with my exhaust cutout closed 90% of the time, because when it’s open it LOUD, and it dumps directly under my passenger seat, so it vibrates my interior like crazy haha. Even with my cutout closed, the catless downpipe gives off a nice “purr” sound, and I’ve had so many random people tell me it sounds so good and healthy. So if someone is looking for some sound over OEM, but doesn’t have a ton of $$, an aftermarket downpipe with the rest of the exhaust OEM stock is the way to go. It will give a nice sound to your GTI. As far as my exhaust cutout is concerned. I LOVE IT!! Quiet when I want it to be. Loud when I want it to be. But the best part about it is that it dumps directly onto the ground, so it gives of an echo’ing sound that no aftermarket car back exhaust can give you. Tons of turbo noise, and the echo is orgasmic! Always have compliments on it, especially on WOT, and I don’t get attention from cops because “flip the switch to closed” lol
I'm waiting to receive a couple mods. Catback exhaust, downpipe, intake. But most excited about unitronic stage 2 and again mostly to be able to get them crackle and pops😎. I hope it sounds just like what you showed on this video can't wait! Subscribed today🤘🏽
I had Unitronic Stage 2 installed just recently on my MK7.5. I have a Unitronic DP, Unitronic Intercooler, APR Open Air Intake, MST High Flow Turbo Inlet Kit, CTS Turbo Muffler Delete, and an Armytrix Exhaust setup but for some reason I can't really get any pops and bangs like your video or like anyone's. On cold start I can get some pops sometimes but when I'm actually driving I don't get any at all. I can hear like small burbles here and there but nothing loud. I have tried switching modes back and forth to sport to try to "activate" it. Started car in sport and started car in normal/eco then switched to sport. It does nothing, I have contacted Unitronic but they didn't really give me any support on what to do. Got an email back from them of doing the stuff I have already been doing. Any clue how to fix this?
I also have dp and stock cat-back and yours sounds better (louder) than mine. How far was the mic from the pipe? I really want to get a cat-back, but with a good muffler, not to small, not to big so it’s a balanced tone and volume. Love your vids
I ran unitronic stage 2 w/ overrun enabled and I agree it is always on. I have switched to sneekytuned now and it only turns on the pops and bangs in sport mode.
@@dudemcdudeston7985 I am very very happy with Sneekytuned. The pops are louder and yet still unpredictable. But the best part is being able to turn the on and off on the fly. I would highly recommend it.
@@HaydenCroix yep i would LOVE to have that option. How does the tune feel compared to uni? I always read uni was "very conservative" even on stage 2, does the sneeky feel any differnt or any more rowdy?

im running a unitronic 3inch down pipe with the high flow cat, full carbon fiber intake, carbon fiber elbow and unitronic turbo inlet on a stage 2 tune. also just installed a stage 3 rsr clutch... it runs mint and sounds dope
@@MontrealMx still have about 2years left of warranty. But currently have just a IE open intake, may go IE downpipe and Unitronic 2 ecu/tcu tune. Was originally going EQT for resale but they just have pops or no pops, and they are loud lol.
I have iE and I can just go there and get them to change it for me for free. I didn’t like driving there all the time to just turn it off so I bought the cable
