If you find yourself needing a little more muscle to conquer some taller grasses on your property with your STIHL FS 94 R trimmer, you’re in luck! There are some other trimmer head options you can easily swap in to help you make quick work of overgrown areas. 💪
One option is the DuroCut 20-2. This is a manual head that those who don’t get along with bump heads may prefer, and it uses a heavier trimmer line than the default bump head on the FS 94 R.
Another option is the PolyCut 28-2, which runs a plastic blade and works really well on the thicker and weedy stuff (not necessarily woody material).

I just bought the Durocut 20-2. I am using 0.155 round line with it…fits the head without any issues. Now that the grass is half dry (really tall stuff) I found myself bumping my speed feed head every 10 seconds with 0.095 line (real pain in the ass). The 0.155 line lasts WAY longer before wearing down, so I don’t have to stop nearly as often.

Awesome. At some point the ratchets will fail. Stihl does make a set that will replace the standard ones that can handle the .155 without stressing the ratchets

I read a review on the Durocut 20-2, and one guy recommended putting anti-seize on the ratchets as he said they would fail after a year or so of heavy use. I pulled my head apart and put some copper anti-seize on the pins and ratchet pivot points. The ratchet looks pretty beefy in those heads, so I don’t expect to have any problems now that they’ve been lubed. Only time will tell, but it sure bites hard on that 0.155 line.
