The Chain-Reference is an ourstanding help for getting ready to hear the preaching on Sundays. If your church uses a lectionary and you know what all the readings will be from that, during the week there is time to go through each topic in each reading including the Psalm, the epistele, the Old Testament text and the gospel reading. It's well worth the time, truths are there to be better understood and not missed. Glory to God in the Highest, and peace to His people on earth in Jesus Christ!

Right now Amazon is selling these for a big discount and it includes another 15% off. The premier goatskin sells for 140 with all the discounts as of 1/26/2024.

Kind of wish they would have used the '77 text with the comfort print. Thanks for the review!

I too wish they would have used the ‘77 text. I know many prefer the 95 update, but I can’t see any significant improvements. And I quite honestly think using Thee, Thou and Thine references to Diety are appropriate and not at all archaic. Nevertheless, the Kirkbride format did need to be updated and the comfort print is a huge improvement.

I would like to see Zondervan and Holman work together to put out a CSB copy.

I still have my decades-old TCR/NASB. I have kept it in a leather zippered cover so it's in great shape. However, my real treasure among my TCR's is the Kirkbride loose-leaf KJV Bible. It was sold completely loose-leaf in a very heavy duty 3-ring binder. It was made for preachers and Sunday school teachers who could remove and shift pages around at will for their lessons. To your knowledge does any Bible maker still offer a similar Bible? Do you have any idea how Zondervan farms these new editions out for binding and printing? I see that yours here is printed in S. Korea and they do some beautiful Bibles there. However, I sure thought that some were coming from Red China. Best wishes from the Houston/Galveston area!

I really enjoy your Bible reviews. But now I can't decide whether to get the old Kirkbride NASB TCR (having the full set of translators' notes), or the new one from Zondervan (having a better format overall).

I bought a Thompson Chain NASB Bible from Zondervan less than a year ago and the glued backing is broken already. It is NASB 95, it's a 2023 edition. I'm VERY DISSAPOINTED in it. Everything about the Bible I thought was very good, the text is easy to read with the two colors, etc.... but when the back started to break when I was using it turned me right off. If I would have known that it was a glued backing I NEVER would have bought it. All the Bible is used for now ~ is looking cute as it takes up space on my book shelf. I know how to treat Bibles (I have 17 different Study Bibles). It wasn't a cheap Bible - it spoiled a $100.00 Canadian dollars. So now I'm stuck with it, its not even fit to give away...... I deliberately read the advertisements and watched the videos on that Bible and NO mention was made concerning the binding, however the leatherette cover is quite comfortable to handle - yeah...I'll give it that much... Even the "reviews" I watched ignored that fact. Think about it.... Its a Study Bible"! It's very nature dictates that it will be USED!....... but it falls apart when you do actually USE it! So please do make mention of the bindings in your reviews so that it would help others from making a very bad investment in their study of the Word. Thanks for listening to my rant.

Have you tried contacting the company? I am waiting on the same one to come in...I almost bought the leather ones, but they are a bit pricey, wonder if those are any better? 😞🕵️🤷

I like this version but i like the older version more. The lines diving the texts blocks ect. I just wish they printed the old versions with a darker text.

The 9.5 font might be okay for the text only, but I wouldn't be able to read the notes and references. I prefer the 95 as far as the NASB translation, and my very old TCR was lost during a move over two decades ago. If they have a Large Print version of this, I would probably consider it, even though I definitely don't need yet another NASB. I may shop around and see what is available, perhaps even in other translations. I wish, though I understand the Bible would be larger and heavier, that they would print these using at a minimum a 10.5 font for the text. 11 or 12 would be preferable for my eyes, but I guess Zondervan doesn't think people over 70 years old are a large enough part of the market to make an easier read for old folks. They do a great job on lots of their other Bibles though, so I'm definitely not trying to knock them! :)

I agree. The same ISBN on Christianbook says it is Large Print and 10.5 font. But I can’t confirm that.

I can’t find a “feedback“ place to make a comment/ complaint. So, now that I’m burned once - I will be very careful to ask questions and request to check out a copy before I buy.

If they only made this in the Spanish equivalent, the NBLA, I would be an extremely happy camper.

Is there any bias on this Bible? I saw some things on the intro page to Romans that seemed a bit swayed towards Calvanism, but I’m still learning. I’m trying to find good neutral resources as I grow in Christ that will allow me to draw my own conclusions.

Nice, helpful review of an excellent Bible resource. Thanks. The new Zondervan comfort print is more readable than the former publisher. One question: you said, and also does Amazon, the type font is 9.5 pt. But Christianbook says it is 10.5. Can you confirm which it is?

i believe that the regular size Thompson is 9.5, the large print edition is 10.5
