regarding your point at 5:38 I think Eufy got the message and updated the software because now it's very easy to change, add or remove passcodes, add different users and give them permanent or temporary passcodes too
Please ask Eufy if it will support HomeKit later ? With HomeKit integration it could be used in a smart Home, today it just a stand alone alarm system.
I did not realise they could not go outside the sensors thats so lucky i was about to go buy 3 of them lol glad i thought i would quickly see reviews. About to watch more off your videos to figure out how to set up my cam 2 4 camera set
Very informative channel. Wondering if you have taken another look at Eufy Home Security now that they offer a Professional monitoring service for $100/year. With Amazon increasing prices and ability of Eufy for local storage, as well as Homekit compatibility, I am thinking of starting with them in our new home, as a possibly better option. The issue is that they are still a bit new to Home Security and I don't know enough about their reliability, which is a key for home security.
Thanks for excellent video. Do you have experience with a magnetic mount. Magnet is very strong, however the holder with a ball for camera is really very badly designed. How to fix the holder firmly to the wall? Have you any idea?
I don't have any specific suggestions here. In cases where you want the camera to maintain a very specific position, I think the tripod mount is better.
@@EricWelander Thank you for your reply. I do mounting following instructions, but I still find sliding the ball holder on the hook very unstable. Sliding length is only 1 mm, so 120$ camera fixing is very unsteady. It is really very risky. Moreover, there is no need to release the holder from the wall, because the camera can be easily released from the holder to charge it. Finally I found a solution. I drilled a small hole in the center of the ball to put a small screwdriver to tight the holder firmly to the wall (directly without a plastic hook). The holder is fixed very firmly to the wall without any negative impact to magnetic function. 🧲 Thank you again for your reply. Peter
I sealed the motion sensor with tape and installed it outdoors. The device worked reliably for 20+ days even after several rainstorms. Stopped working suddenly and I couldn't bring it back to life.
I just recently purchased a couple of indoor Eufy PTZ cameras and I'm liking their video quality and the app works pretty well also. HomeKit seemed to have gotten off to a slow start but it seems like more devices in this space are starting to support it. I think it did help when Apple open sourced parts of HK to allow developers to more easily create HK apps. I just installed tvOS 14 beta and was actually pleasantly surprised to be able to bring up the live feed on a big screen TV. A lot of these issues can be fixed with software, but it will take some time for things to sort themselves out. Looking forward to more of ur videos. TY.
Very cool stuff. To your comment about companies that are ‘Security First’, vs ‘Camera w/security features’: Do you see a day when Apple will simply allow you enter login credentials for a 3rd-party camera system (NVR/DVR) and integrate the feed into HomeKit? All of these ‘HomeKit Secure Video’ cams that I’m seeing are fine (albeit kinda pricey) if you’re just wanting to put a camera on your mantle or a shelf. But they still seem to offer very little in the way of providing a solution for someone who wants a fixed-mount, outdoor camera system. I really have a hard time believing that I’m the only guy who wants HomeKit enabled cameras that are ‘fixed’ mounted along the roofline of the house.
Thanks good question...the eufyCam 2 is pretty close to that. I think it will just be a matter of time as more companies bring out HSV compatible products.
Yes, you can make the hombase sounds its alarm when the entry door sensor is triggered.. go under settings on your entry door sensor via App, and check "Homebase Alarm"
I have the System Cams and Security. Works great but could do with a Outside Siren, and or using the Siren build in to the cams , does anyone know how to do that ? would love this to work in home kit so I can use it to drive heating though HIVE. so I don't have to double up sensors in the house.
@@dexter_johnson I use the cam sirens in the right modes as warnings , but I like the cam sirens to all go off if a indoor sensor is triggered when I am away. As the indoor siren isn’t going to attract the attention of people around and about
Nice system but Eufy doesn't have a powerful outdoor siren or a flash light. Burglars are mainly startled by a powerful siren, which the Eufy system cannot offer! Eufy does have a beeper (alarm) on the homebase and the camera, but with that you tell the burglar exactly where the camera and the Eufy homebase are. If he also takes it with him, then you have nothing because the video images are stored on the homebase! And the beeping sound from the camera or the Eufy homebase is far from powerful. A pitty for Eufy security system and a missed opportunity.
As alert eufy is a soft system a burglar is not scared of! Burglar can switch the alarm off simply by unplug the homebase power plug. The homebase give a little beep so the burglar know were to find it to switch power off. If the Eufy system manage to give an alert sound this sound is inhouse and this sound (beep) is very low. So no one will hear the alarm sound outside the house! 😳 If you also got the Eufy cameras these give also a very low (soft) beep sound and also only for the time this camer see a person (movement). The mostly give an alert sound only for 5 seconds! More Eufy cameras can not sound the alert together by any alert trigger in the Eufy system and the homebase can not set also the alert sound of the cameras when an alert is triggert. Linking all cameras and homebase(s) so that they sound an alarm together is easy to program and is a missed opportunity from makers the Eufy system. These videos here are paid commercials to promote the Eufy products. You do not need the Eufy alert keyboard because you can also set all these functions (Away/Home/...) through or in your Eufy app on your phone or tablet 😲 If the power is cut by a burglar the Eufy homebase will not work any more. So no alert is given by your Eufy alarm system and because 230V power is off your wifi will not send you any Eufy alert notifications! Alll in all not a good system for scaring away burglars. An external loud alarm / siren device is missing from the Eufy program and present alert possibilities are not flexible or loud enough to scare burglars.
