In today's video we look at the SR-25, which is a natural progression from the RFB in the 7.62x51 NATO caliber. Although the RFB is a great weapon, there comes a time when we may look to upgrade to something with more modding potential, and which gets more recoil benefits from attachments.
The SR-25 is the perfect place to start looking for this type of weapon, with a super modular layout and in 12.12, semi auto is incredibly popular now due to the recoil changes and the effectiveness of M80 ammo.

If you add a shift grip instead of the rk-2 you get 52 recoil and ergo in the 30s depending on your sight. IMHO it's worth it.

Higher capacity aftermaket mags (like the 25-rounders) for the Hunter would also be a nice addition, given that they're a pretty affordable pick IRL.

@@ProdBugs I don't think these are imported to Russia, I was thinking of PufGun mags, which cost around 2500 roubles in retail at the moment. I think you can find the see-through variant of them in the States as well.

Right on time! I just took to modding one of these last night. One nice thing is that you can mod this fully using Peacekeeper. Being broke in rubles but with like $10k, I set out to make an SR-25 build using only his parts. I made pretty much your build exactly, but without the RSASS handguard since I didn't know you could put that on an SR, but even that is a PK item. I also had some other suppressor lying around to use, but still you can buy the KAC suppressor from him. The only variable zoom scope from him is the Elcan though, not my favorite but hey, I didn't have to spend any rubles so I'm not complaining.

I feel like 46 recoil for a .308 gun is too good to be true, and BSG made a mistake somewhere with cumulative mod stats. Also, it seems to me that the use of tracers in a suppressed gun might be defeating the purpose of a suppressor in some way.

I will never understand why recoil stats are additive, rather than multiplicative. They could reduce base recoil of everything, and that'd narrow the gap between the top and bottom tier of weapons.

@@thinnedpaints6503 I would agree with you with one slight correction: it might not be as good of an idea to have a narrower gap between the most and the least recoiling variants. There are indeed some muzzle devices that can alter the recoil in a very significant manner, like the one for FAL demonstated by Ian McCollum. That being said, I don't think that a multiplicative approach would necessarily prohibit the existence of such mods.

@@F1ghteR41 For me at least, it's very strange that an AK-74, which is a very controllable gun in full auto irl, is damn near unusable in tarkov, unless you strap 3 tonnes of crap onto it. It just strikes me as odd, and it's a little immersion breaking I suppose? I agree that you definitely can reduce the recoil of weapons quite significantly, but for the most part, the design of the weapon matters more than the attachments, yet in tarkov that's very much not the case, most of the time anyway. I think going multiplicative would still allow for people to mount a million mods onto their guns, should they choose, but it would make running stock, or close to, much more viable, which imo is a level of realism I would like to see.

Great vid as always! I would love to see a video about muzzle devices and suppressors for every caliber. There's tons of them to sort through and it can be hard to choose the best setup.

Glad to see the SR-25 getting a lot of love this wipe, was always a favourite of mine the previous 2 wipes where it seemed .308 was just RSSAS, M1A or FALs. Had one last wipe I had built for ergo to snipe with, ended up keeping it for like the last 4 months of the wipe with a good chunk of PMC kills with it, considered it my "lucky" gun since I always managed to survive with it. Its not the best but man is it a cool and fun gun to use and at the end of the day that's what counts for me, even last wipe I mainly used M80 in it as I didn't want tracer rounds to give my position away and kept M61 for my bolt-actions, was always "good enough" and never had any serious problems using it.

What sucks about Tarkov is that a lot of people, dare I say the majority, tend to use meta guns or as close to meta as they can get instead of using what's fun for them. Just yesterday I ran into 2 dudes with mutants with 49 recoil, together they had like 300 BP rounds on them and I was using an M4 I took from someone and I though it looked cool and was decent enough (plus for whatever reason people use a lot of M4s and my stash is full of them so wanted to get rid of one). Which btw the mutant is broken? I went into my hideout to try these mutants out and there's fuckall initial kick and it just stays in one spot after that, it's like shooting an MP5SD but with less horizontal recoil... VSS/VAL is also pretty cool gun IMO and the ammo is incredibly good this wipe with the armour damage values but I don't think I ever saw anyone with a VAL other than myself. I snatched one SR-25 from a dead dude too and it might be my favourite semi-auto now. It's a bit pricey so I just go through my stashed guns first but if I ever go for semi-auto sniper I'll make it the SR-25 build.

@@jcudejko It was my first time developing an attachment to a gun too so it was pretty neat. My buddy who I always ran duos with would joke "well we aren't dying this raid" whenever I took the SR-25 out.

SR25 jumpstarted my shooter born in heaven quest. Got a lot of kills with it on woods/shoreline and reserve with it. Moved around with the M1A, M700, SVD, SV98 a bit too. took me about 3 weeks of grinding and learned a lot about sniping since it was my first attempt at completing the quest this wipe. The KMZ 1p59/1p69 scopes also really helped me on the quest with a decent 3x like a PSO and a solid 10x for long range reserve shots out to 300/400 yards. I think that scope is a sleeper with the annoying illum/magnification combination. if 5.45 wasn't so terrible at distance I'd have used cheap AK74s with the PSO scope.

*Ash-12 semi auto supremacy.* The only bad thing about the ash, is that ps12b rounds are so thicc. Making you have to zero in more and aim up higher drastically. But its been my favorite gun to run on smaller maps like labs.

I’m only level 10 and got one of these last night from a raider on reserve. Super stoked as this is my favorite weapon irl. Luckily I watch fence and have accumulated some mods for this I’m not able to normally find.

Scar-H SA-58 MDR 308 (black) SR-25 RSASS M1A G28 These are all better or equal choices to the RFB, it also depends on your play style.

I love you vids and have watched pretty well all of them for a while now, just to make sure the public keeps up with the meta, likely beginning of wipe i tend to go investigate all the changes to my favorite guns. anyway, something I never quite understand is your choice in parts. i think you need to start building guns with a sense of "Amount of ergo the each 1% of recoil costs" and in an even deeper dive it's 'points of recoil per 1% on part' and 'how many points of ergo does 1 point of ergo cost per part' because each part has set ergo, where as percent recoil equally points of recoil is determinate on the gun, so it changes everytime. either way, using the rsass handguard leads me to believe you're going for recoil now ergo, but then you have the SRD suppressor instead of the Kac QDC which is the obvious new meta.

Hey sorry, I read this comment and was thinking about a good response but forgot to reply. Are you pointing out that the RSASS handguard + JP gas block combo is about 30k vs the stock one, but only improves recoil by 3% overall? And by that logic, we should use the QDC too as it's 4% better on recoil than the SRD for 35k? To be honest you're right! Totally happy to be pointed out where my logic is inconsistent :)

Personally I'm not a fan of the look of the RSASS handguard on the SR-25. I really like the look of the gun in stock configuration, so I tend to put on the best in slot suppressor, Cobra grip, MOE AR-15 pistol grip (best ergo for the traders I have), a sight, and a laser. Not the best stats in the world but I love the look. Alternatively i have a 70 ergo unsuppresssed build that's pretty similar except it uses a GL-Shock stock & the long white compensator (can't remember the name) which feels snappy and amazing to use

With how recoil works using percentage drops (except for ammo), it makes me think that a rework is in order. Bull pup guns are in a pretty bad spot right now and really shouldn’t be, plus other guns with innately low recoil don’t get almost any benefit from being tricked out. I think a long and hard look at what every gun’s base recoil is along with how much static recoil each mod drops a gun by would be awesome, if done correctly.

How cool would it be to be on the team tasked with reworking the equipment stats before release? I have a feeling that is a process they have planned for the future, once they have most of the guns they want in the game. They likely view everything in so far as placeholders for tuning once their use is better understood.

Scar L you vendor and buy something better, at least a scar H. Yeah there arent many scar mods though, Scar-H is ok, mostly because it shoots m62/m80

no reason to use either scar when you have the mdr’s, same fire rate, recoil and recoil pattern but mdr has double the ergo with the same attachments

Communication/teamplay video next? The reason I ask is because you explain things very well with images/video on screen to help with what you're saying. Most 3+mans I run into have horrendous comms. I know this because sometimes we're within 10m from each other and they don't notice. Or you pop into any streamer with 2 or more teammates and comms are filled with useless or pointless info. "To my right" "Is that you?" etc. I've got my comms down fairly well I think, but a video from you with a basic structure and some kind of way to practice in offline would be great to show others. I wrote out a whole "comms for dummies" to show new players. If you want any help or anything... I'm just so sick of hearing "I think I heard something at the...uh...thing at the....oh he got me" :(

Depends if people are selling the lower, as you can't get it from traders. Might be worth it if you're building a min recoil version, otherwise just buy a working one imo

Giga pls give us your thoughts on the ash 12. Once the quest is done it's seriously cheap. Semi is easy to use full auto works in a close range. It's an insane round that it fires

Its OK up to 50m or so but then the velocity starts to bite you. Take a range finder into offline and check the bullet drop beyond 50m

Was bored recently of questing and had fun with that gun in factory. Farming tagilla is easy mode with that thing. (granted you have access to ps12b ammo) So is dropping pmcs at close quarters. It's so much fun and the sound of the shells hitting the floor. **chefs kiss**

I prefer the Lancer LCH7 hand guard. RSASS hand guard has -2% recoil, whereas the LCH7 is only -1%. But the LCH7 has +10 ergo to the RSASS’s 5. The RSASS can accept a flip up front iron for an extra +1 ergo, whereas the LCH7 cannot, but I’d still take the -1%recoil/+10ergo over the -2%recoil/+6ergo. Being a single shot gun, I go meta ergo build. Just my $.02

Ya solid points, lancer used to be meta before they swapped it over to the SR. I can see the argument that a few points of ergo is worth more than 1% recoil given you can hardly tell the difference on semi

Issue is even the SVD doesn't one tap, but you can load up the 7.62 weapons with similar ammo & better ergo. I like the SVD but you have to compromise more
