Thanks Brother Gibson. Another lesson saved for me to refer back to when I get to my 61 and 62. We appreciate Your lessons. Be blessed. Truck Driver Ray ✝️
Keep doing what you do Mr. G 63. if it wasn't for you my 61 would still be sitting not getting done. Your channel has givin me the confidence to tackle what needs to be done without someone else doing it for me. It's slow going but well worth it thanks again for your informitable content it's helped me immensely.
your videos are a lifesaver. My truck's roof is just as bad as yours and watching you progress thru the repair is a real confidence builder! thank you for taking the time to document this and sharing it with us!!!!
Man I love watching you work. Guys like me have learned a lot from craftsman like you and Dave Welch. I was able to do all my metal replacement on my 64 GMC just from your techniques. Time consuming for me but so happy with the results. Plus an amazing sense of accomplishment. Nice thing is acquiring the mig too that I always wanted.
Nice, I wish I knew these inner panels interchanged in the center, I assumed it would be different. I hand fabricated all of that area, 6-8" pieces at a time. Only really bad part was working on the knees. Nice work!
1963 Chevy Trucks are in my opinion are the best looking trucks when I was a teenager my dad had a 63 small window stepside it fad a 327 with a 4 speed it had a hand painted screaming eagle on the hood it was one of a kind
It's great to watch you build another truck. Your videos have a perfect mix of explaining what you are doing and showing the process. Thanks for sharing your work.
Cool 70's Mnt Carlooo man, one of my dream car's for many years. I have a good friend that has a Orgn on Blk w/Buckets factory 4 spd, 350 4bbl car. Sad thing he has it seating outside in the dirt for the last 8 years and won't let it go, so what was once a sweet 1971 is now rust city with weeds growing up under the the body and a female Ground Hog making it her home. I told him I'd trade my 63 C10 Short Box Steepside Deluxe Custom for his 71 but he just looked at me and said, "It's a factory 4 sp man lol" I said back to him, "It's a Rusted Out 71 factory 4sp lol" I can't understand folks like that, a great gentleman who has 20 acres of Vintage 1950's up to 1970's Car's and Truck's but let's them all rust away... Very Sad... Keep On Trucking Brother👍...
This man is a inspiration for all us Bolter Brothers. I personally learned a lot from this Mans Build. Definitely straight forward and gets the point across. Thank you Very Much. Boss
I have to do this with my 69...I'm hoping I won't have to cut the roof off, but if I do, I'm gonna try to salvage my original roof because it's still nice and straight, & those roof skins are expensive...great work as usual...it's great to see the man that inspired my build back in action! I'm about to tackle my doors, so as soon as I get done catching up with the last couple of new videos, I gotta go back & review your door videos...🖖🏿😎👍🏿
William Howard Scruggs from West Virginia was my uncle and he went by the name of Bob but he is long pass away his brother my dad was Floyd Leon Scruggs.
@Bill Scruggs The Bob I know passed away about 6 or so years ago, you could be Shirt Tail Cousins, his family was originally from the same state as your family year's ago. Small world, as they say. Keep On Trucking Brother👍...
Brother you make that look easy, but I know it's a challenge and it's going to take shape for you every part you get replaced with new metal. I'm hoping to get my Red 63 C10 from my youngest daughter places and trailer it home this weekend God Willing. Thanks again Brother Gibs for a great video. May God continue to bless you Brother and your Pops each day. Keep On Trucking Brother Gibs👍...
Awesome work as always, your attention to detail is amazing. Not sure what you make as a framer, but restoration work like you're doing goes for $90-$110 an hr where I'm at. You keep my enthusiasm up about completing my 64' short bed fleetside. Can't wait to see another of your finished trucks!
Great work as always, love your videos, looking forward to the next one. Applying some of your techniques to our 66 Impala build & making some videos of our own. You are a great inspiration to those doing their own restorations.
Damn Gibson, you do nice work! Folks watching don't know how physically demanding that it is trying to contort yourself inside the cab when doing all that cutting, scribing, welding, and grinding...it kicked my 65 year old butt! Glad your back!
You uploaded this at the perfect time! I'll be tackling this on mine soon enough and wasn't sure if the 64+ inner roof piece would work for the earlier years. I had assumed you could make it work but glad to see you using it. Mine rotted in the middle!
That was a lot of work. much appreciate the video. I will be using it as a guide to doing my 63. I caught that part about " in and out 1500 - 1600 times" but the fit was as good as factory. great effort. Lookin forward to the next posting. Be well.
Great work as always, you do a excellent job on everything you work on, nice C-10, these old trucks are getting harder to find, how's the 63 doing, one of the sharpest around, good to see another video, been watching since the start of 63 C-10, THANKS.
I'd guess it's one of Gibs natural callings. Gibs has a gift of Working with Wood and that gift gives him the patience and great work ethics when working with his Chevy C10's, that's just my opinion. Keep On Trucking Brother👍...
Dude, this is amazing! Im glad i have not started mine yet -- and I have that same mouse pee rust hole that your header has. I need to ask, as I cant believe my eyes, did you free-hand a straight marker line across at the beginning of the video?
@@Gibson63. That was freakin amazing That removal of the top of cab was amazing too! a million spot welds. What are you going to do under there for rust stop?
Yes he did, he used his pinky as a guide on the top formed line. Plus Gibs is use to doing wood work and scribing a straight line is nothing new, Gibs can do that in his sleep lol... Keep On Trucking Brother👍...
I haven't done my 60 Apache yet but videos I've watched to repair the area above the windshield it's best to remove the roof cap to clean and coat it with rust incapsulator. It's easier to reach those areas too.
If I'm gong to be replacing pillars and upper windshield metal on a 63, it's probably a good idea to just go ahead and pull roof skin off for better access huh?
