Good day to you, friends, and welcome to a video which, once again, was ready long before it was done uploading. Don't know what the issue is (4K taking longer?) but I hope you'll find your way to it regardless. It was yet another (minor) occasion for me to practice acceptance - a reminder of the Roman Epictetus's dictum (and many people after him) that it's our attitude toward events, not the events themselves, that we can control and that ultimately shapes how we go through life - with peace or with frustration. I'm constantly practicing... Much love, H.

We have a coffee shop here in Waterloo, owned by a fellow named Dan, who bought the Danish coffee shop and moved in nearby. He sells Danish goods , including licorice, which I love. He also hosts a Danish night once a year. It reminds me how much I miss Denmark and our Danish friends when I’m home in Canada. Thanks for sharing this time with your Canadian friends.

I believe we are close to the same age, but I grew up in Pennsylvania and we used make wishes with the dandelions when they turned white. We also used the buttercup under our chins to see if we liked butter. It’s so neat to hear that even though we are a world away from one another, we did some of the same things as kids. I found you through your knitting videos and now I’m watching all the rest! I love seeing Denmark and hearing about life there. Thank you for your videos!

Ooof, I feel your pain of losing the boxwoods. But on the other hand, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such healthy roses as I fight spider mites and black spot as a matter of course here in my hot climate. Lately, I have taken to not replanting anything that dies, rather I continue to search for things that will be naturally hardy in my challenging weather. But that list is getting shorter and shorter!

Hello, this is an older video, but just had to comment on you losing your box plants, they take so long to grow, and that happens,i would be devastated too. The rest of your garden is lovely, the clematis,and the roses, i love all those flowers too, i also love area about where you live, seeing the cows in the paddock,i live also near country side,after living in a big city,which i didn’t like ,the traffic and all that goes along with that. I am in a smaller place now,with a large garden and i never want to leave. Thank you for sharing your video’s kind regards pamela hall

My grandparents immigrated from Denmark to the USA in 1894 and 1914. So I grew up with stories and traditions they brought with them. ( Yes, I learned that I do like butter and I love black licorice. ) I was looking for videos about Denmark and found you! What a blessing! I am really enjoying watching one of your videos every day and will continue to do so until I have seen them all. Then I will look forward to each new posting. Most of my family have traveled to Denmark but I have not had my chance, yet. You bring the beauty of the country right to my kitchen and I am grateful for the scenery, your calm narration and the music. I'm also grateful for the reminder to go outside and just appreciate what I have here, in Virginia. The world is a beautiful place and it is a shame to be too busy to appreciate that. Thank you!

I learned as a child in California that before you blew the dandelion flower you made a wish in your thoughts. We called the dandelion flowers wishes. Your video was lovely ❤

Another loved video on my part. 💜 I’m so sorry about your garden and the loss of plants that you have raised from a time when they were small. 😢 I loved your approach to accepting the arrival of those unwanted garden guests. I did the same in my youth with the dandelions and little buttercup flowers. I too love butter, especially on soft rolls fresh out of the oven. 😛🥐 Since I’m gay, I could care less how many boyfriends I have after blowing on the dandelion! Lol! I’m sure my wife is grateful for this too. 😛 I am the same in terms of socializing now that I am in my 50s. I used to be so much more social, but now I prefer sacred moments alone in peace doing individual activities that soothe and calm me. Yes! It is best to determine if we have any control over a situation when we encounter a challenge or obstacle in life. Let’s not waste precious energy on things we can do little about. Yes! Let’s seek the lesson in these moments. The notion of resistance is something I have only embraced in the last couple of years. What a difference it makes when I release resistance and simply let my self go through the obstacle more freely. Wine festival looked fun, but crowded. I can only take crowds in doses these days! Please continue sharing these videos as they bring me much joy! Sending loving care to you…a stranger who seems more like someone I already know in some way. It’s nice to meet people who share our values and interests in life. Enjoy your weekend! 💜🇺🇸🇩🇰

A video of rose care or types you have in your garden?

Hello again! Surrendering to that which we cannot control is always good advice! June here heralds the beginning of Winter, and it has arrived cold, wet and windy ! Not particularly pleasant! And Queen Elizabeth 's Jubilee has passed here almost unnoticed! Despite Australia being a Commonwealth country! Most people seem to be uninterested. I have returned to my old job, but for how long, who can say, perhaps I will give Phlebotomy another try, who knows? As always, take care!

Thanks, Katherine. So fascinating that the seasons are reversed in your part of the world. The jubilee celebration was mainly just a fun thing because my friends and I either current or former (me) English teachers. Sorry to hear your new job isn’t panning out how you’d planned. I know the feeling of disappointment that comes with that, but no doubt something else (better?) is around the corner. Take care.

Lovely summer video. Your clematis is magnificent . Do you know the names of your roses? The pale pink one looks like one that grows well in my Irish garden. It is called, coincidentally Queen of Denmark!
@danishmusings

It depends on which one but I certainly have a Queen of Denmark in the garden 🌸 also Brother Cadfael and Jacques Cartier and Felicité Parmentier (oh now I can’t to see them all again)

Thank you for your support, Vijay. I appreciate your suggestion. However, I think at this stage, it would take time away from making the videos. But I think there may be a way of adding them automatically through speech recognition on YT. I’ll look into it 😊

Hey my husband and I are hoping to move to Denmark this year! We love your videos, He is Danish/Norwegian American and is excited to come home haha. Can I ask ..can you suggest good areas you like to visit and maybe move ( depending on where he lands a job ofcourse) Anyway sending you the best!
@danishmusings
@danishmusings Год назад
Ooh, it really depends on so many things. Copenhagen is expensive to live in (rents) but lovely and ‘happening’. It also depends on what kind of job; in the country there are fewer options, but it’s more relaxed.
@ChadwickTree
@ChadwickTree Год назад
@@danishmusings Yah we are realizing its super dependent on where he lands a job, he is an engineer so doubt it will be in the city. We are also calm countryside types so definitely will be looking for areas outside of the big city. We love areas we can thrift/antiwue shop not too far and maybe be by the sea or a lake or forests but can have a home with our own space and garden

From your book, your garden, your videos, your life, the amount of effort and enthusiasm continues to amaze. Admiration is not a big enough word. Wonderful video. A real shame about your plants but I am sure the thought process on how to replace them with something else will be pleasurable in 'your' mind. Is Danish liquorice hard? 🌹
@danishmusings
@danishmusings 2 года назад
Brian, I’m so grateful to have you cheering me on, honestly ☺️ I usually don’t see myself like that at all. Danish liquorice isn’t necessarily hard, but apparently one’s teeth (like bones) can become brittle as we get older (!) and then all it takes is something chewey like liquorice or gum. As if that wasn’t depressing enough, it’s bloody expensive. Thanks for being here 💚
