This is why I can't go through with any kind of procedure and choose (even when it's hard) to love my body the 2ay it is. I fear that if I ever changed anything, I'd regret it just like that, and I would be disappointed in myself hard. There is a show in Australia (I think), it's about makeovers and there was a lady who got a lot of work done, when they revealed her to the mirror, she kinda went crazy. I'm 15 and you have no idea how much this video is meaning to me, since i was 14 i remember begging and crying to mom to get me a nose job or to just put something in my nose to curve it upwards, i was so hideous about my nose, even posing in photos hiding it. Eventually found out my chin was a little too much behind my whole face so i began to do therapy for it and it was the best decission i've ever done, not only is that my nose looks more fitting to my face, it is the fact that i learned to ACCEPT and work on my self-esteem, and i was never the type of girl that got easily swayed by trends or beauty standards, but the simple fact that everyone makes it seem okay and something you MUST do to look prettier, it destroyed me. Thank you Steph

When I was 15 (I'm now 33) this kind of nose was not a thing. Believe me, I was called "pig nose" so often for having the tip of my nose up (naturally) and I was sooo traumatised! And than, all of sudden, it's a thing. As you said, it's just a trend. Don't fall for it! Love yourself the way you are, show this to others and they will see and appreciate! What gets me the most irritated when it comes to this topic is the way they make light of surgery. Surgery is scary, lots of bad things can happen; reactions to anaesthesia, infections, blood clots, nerve damage and more. As a cancer survivor I have had to undergo several surgeries, and it was terrifying, but if I didn't get them, I would die. So the idea of people, especially young people, being so insecure about their looks that they are CHOOSING to get surgery done, it's heart breaking. I had a medical nose job in 2015, because I broke my nose as a child and now my septum had a 45° kink in it, which made breathing super difficult. the ENT surgeon asked me if I also wanted to have it changed „aesthetically“. I said no, he was absolutely flabberghasted why I would refuse a „cuter“ nose.

Problem with rhinoplasty is that it's unpredictable. You could look fine for years, and then suddenly, your nose could colapse. Out of nowhere. And it's no one fault. It's just that this surgery messes up the structure of nose, and it can turn out quite well, or it could colapse, deform or close and leave you miserable. That's the risk of this surgery. And we really, really need nose to breathe.
@DeadKraken
@DeadKraken 3 месяца назад
There is also the fact that if you mess with the nose's cartilage, the whole thing will start to shrink after a decade or so. Which is probably why one of the girls in the video had a first "very conservative" nose job: a plastic surgeon that knows what he's doing will plan things with the long-term result in mind, probably in some 5 years she would've naturally got exactly what she wanted with no more shrinkage, sort of like how good tattoo artists make tattoos that look darker at first, so they last longer. But she messed with it, so enjoy the Voldemort nose in 5 years love😂

Dentist here. We typically call the ‘adenoid face’ a type II occlusion (the way the teeth bite together). This can either be skeletal or dental. Skeletal can be improved if intercepted during growth spurts however may need revision later on depending on the severity. Dental is a little easier to correct with just orthodontics. A lot of people with this type of occlusion can either have a prominent maxilla (upper jaw), a recessive mandible (lower jaw) or a combination of the 2. However, the recessive lower jaw can unfairly make the nose seem more prominent. I would encourage those considering surgery to also ask their dentist/orthodontist about their facial shape as a second opinion. In addition to the breathing issues: is it the chicken or the egg…. Did the breathing issues cause the development of a type II occlusion or did the genetically present type II occlusion hinder the development of nasal breathing.

I have a receding chin and was a mouth breather as a child resulting in poor and almost nonexistent jawline... Yeah I need surgery to balance it out and I will get an apnea test done at one point too to verify that as well

I showed my surgeon a photo of the nose that I would like to have and he opted for more natural-looking results. Is my new nose esthetically perfect? No. But I am so elated with how it turned out and how I am resting better at night. Thank you for pointing this out!

Former surgical tech here. If you're ever thinking of plastic surgery, understand that the videos and photos posted by surgeons are a small fraction of what they really do. The reality is that surgeons dont actually know how a nose will look after healing. During the surgery, tissue swells and skin turns red. Imagine sculpting clay that is moving, oozing, and swelling. Even during the final suturing, the layers of skin being closed are thinner than the suture needle. Plastic surgery is an artform but the industry and medical schools do NOT treat it that way. FYI depending on where you go, you will have medical students and residents coming in and out of your surgery just to throw a suture or two for the practice or to add to their mandatory case count and ANY surgeon, medical doctor, or dentist is allowed to perform plastic surgery. Plastic surgery includes everything from carpal tunnel release, ingrown toenails, major burns, cosmetic procedures and even the reconstruction of the skull (mostly done on infants with deformities impeding their brain growth but is considered plastic surgery and typically done with a neurosurgeon assisting). If you want the truth of what happens in surgery, dont tall to the doctor, talk ti the nurses and techs. The reality is plastic surgery, knee and spinal surgeries are never one and done. You are almost guaranteed to need a revision or replacement as you age because your body is not stagnant. Forcing this complex organic robot to conform is like holding the ocean back with a teaspoon. Just let it go and keep swimming... ❤

13:00 this whole section is very inaccurate - You cannot move your lower chin forward with myofunctional exercises. What you’re describing is actually a far more intense surgery than a Rhinoplasty, and it’s called MMA (Maxillomandibular Advancement). I had it done and the recovery was an absolute nightmare, with multiple fractures and infections. And no, a “good dentist” cannot do this either. Just posting this for anyone who sees this and thinks they can move their jaw forward with exercises… That’s not going to happen.

eeeh... orthodontist assistant here... you just described one of many problems that can cause this look with small jaw and "Fallen" profile. You can have this look and never ever had a problem with breathing etc. Often its just mixture of dna and asymetry of lower and upper jaw, or wrong angle of growing jaw. There is the thing: if you are not a kid you cant fix it now by excersises etc, you are not growing anymore. So u have few options have to fix it. U can get braces, but braces wont fix your facial features, in some cases they can even protrude your upper and lower lip. So we have to do bimaxilary surgery. Yes, you hear right, surgery. Its even bigger surgery than rhinoplastic and you also have to wear braces alongside. There is no easy solution.

Not only fix ur breathing, also fix ur bite, unbalanced bite (skeletal class 2 or only orthodontic cases), atypical swallowing... These features could've been developed in childhood (growing ages) due to poor tongue positioning. (All this is in reference to when we talk about the chin at minute 11:56). I defend a lot the orthodontic treatments because you can prevent those type of features for a very good reason in a future (breathing well, chewing well, not having temporomandibular joint problems, not having bruxism)... Btw thank u for this video Stephanie, I agree w almost everything

4:21 I remember reading a saying that’s something like this “Your features are there for a reason, all of them are meant to be in harmony with each other”, and I agree! Beauty is subjective true, but I think that the uniqueness of features are what enhances someone’s beauty. So sad that a lot of people esp younger and more impressionable individuals now think they have to “fix” their faces because of trends.
