I am at 14 and just I wonder it cand they dropped enough of food to feed the whole of the boat? They do carry lots of food don’t they? And too lots of submariners all so. So to refill it would not it taked longed of time to get it all on the boat and stuff. I think by lost they mean stranded at sea. It’s very likely in a war situation that all available ports in theatre are unsafe, occupied or decommissioned. Nuclear subs have unlimited fuel so if theres 1 port they have a place to port. However, that may comprise operational, strategic and tactical plans. It also makes sub vulnerable as ports are easier to know whereabouts and subs have to lose the track.

Additionally you are doing the find and fixing part for enemy. All they have to do is finish the job. Espionage doctrine is centered around find, fix, and finish.
