To be fair, the Chinese have never wanted nukes in this conflict. They don't want to have to turn their back on an economic "partner" in Russia that they've been happily exploiting since this whole thing began, but there's no way to justify a nuke as a result of Russia not getting their way in the invasion.

​@@wubuck79 well we have been at it for a few years now and russia hasn't really taken too much ground beyond what they took when they started, NATO has been able to sit back and ship weapons in without having to fully commit anything (nato does the supplying, ukraine does the dying), and most of the largest member states of nato have all committed to pretty huge military expansion plans. so all in all, i'd say things are going horribly for humanity as a whole. but pretty swell for NATO in the short term. Russia is absolutely winning the shadow game though. Distracting the US with the middle east and south china sea, france with africa, and europe with an energy supply problem was an absolute masterstroke

Several reasons actually first one being that they didn't want to instead they preferred to have nuclear American deterrence because put simply nuclear programs are expensive incredibly expensive. The US spends on average around 80 billion for its current stockpile Note current not any future developments. Russia does so for 10 times be stated USD value ingested for PPP it's comparable to about 12 billion in the maintenance and mind you they claim a higher total nuclear warhead count than the US does so it's likely the number is significantly shorter because the programs are that much more expensive It doesn't matter how much cheaper your troops are to pay nuclear programs are just expensive because you have to replace the cores in them roughly every 6 months and they become completely unviable after 3 years. That and with Japan's lingering scar about nuclear weapons you know being the only nation that had them dropped on them they have pretty good incentive to not really want them but still want the umbrella protection of having them
