The customer service at USAA has gone straight in the toilet. I've been stood up for 2 hours before when calling in for banking issues. Been meaning to switch from them for a while; maybe I'll do it today.

USAA used to be amazing, but about 7-8 years ago their service just tanked. They sold off their investment division to Victory Capitol, their insurance rates skyrocketed, and their customer service (critical for a bank with no branches) cratered. And USAA customers are veterans and active duty, who often don't have hours/days to argue with banks over errors.

We not only have to pray, but we need to be prepared such as putting money aside for emergency funds. You just never know with these banks. I bank with Patelco there was an outage in their banking system. Luckily, I had money aside to pay for rent. There was no transparency as to why they locked up members money. But clearly these people do not care if we have rent to pay, bills to pay and children to feed or even pets to feed. We need to outsmart the enemy.

I called USAA and they have a recording stating they are insured. I spoke to fraud and they don’t see any fraud in my goods insurance which is linked to my apartment. I also pay auto and am going to move it.

I lost over $70k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. I have to play devils advocate here. What if the bank hired the hackers? We all know how much trouble the banks are in. I’m sure they are looking for new sources of revenue. There was a time when I would have totally brushed off a thought like this but the evil I see at work today causes me to discount nothing.

Don't use online banking. The terms and conditions for most banks say that you are responsible for the security of your account number and security codes. Meaning that if you can't prove that it was their fault the bank got hacked and not your specific account you are SOL for the losses. That's the reason I don't use online banking

I finally moved out of a $29,000 starter home. I was a single Mom and feared being homeless with two young children. Taxes and insurance was $325/month. So all the house payments went into college tuition fund. Now I have two M.D.’s with no student loans! I sold the modest home and bought something I could afford, but suited for retirement. The flaw? The hoa! I’, selling in less then four years, the rules are just beyond crazy! I’m a disabled veteran who CANNOT FLY THE US FLAG BECAUSE IT MIGHT OFFEND SOMEONE WHO IS NOT A US CITIZEN. What did I fight for? Base housing has less rules!!! Tents on airstrips had less rules! Does F.O.D. Mean anything other than foreign object damage? I think it means “f*** off dude!” IMHO A $500 fine for one dandelion? I picked it on a 115F day with 90% humidity and suffered heat stroke. Now I have an ambulance bill and an er bill. I’m not jacking up the price to greed, just capture what I can and move to the country and eat a lot of peaches. 😢🎉

These people are giving their account access to the scammers. Is it fraud, yes, should the bank have more safeguards in place to be able to claw back lost funds, yes. But people need to be better at protecting their personal access to their accounts. Hard to feel bad for someone that emails a phisher their password...

I used to bank at USAA for 30 years, and they were great. Then they went 'woke' and things changed. I had issues with them after that, so I left and never looked back. I have a better bank now.
