Using Nikon lenses on Sony Mirrorless Bodies- the Fotodiox Fusion Adapter on my Sony A7Rii 

Hi everyone - You're likely aware that two photographers have now experienced problems with their FUSION adapters. We're still in the process of determining what is happening with the specific adapter/lens combo - Nikon AF-S VR Micro 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED + Fotodiox Nikon to Sony E Mount FUSION adapter - as that is the apparent link between the two issues. For now, we advise you to avoid that combo until we know more. We're also working directly with Eric, Jason, Commlite and Sony so we can advise you further, as soon as possible. In the meantime, if any of you are worried about your FUSION adapters, you are welcome to return them, no questions asked. Just email fusionsupport@fotodiox.com

She was very happy about it, probably thought she could photograph her two horns and tail using some Non native lenses she had. Her camera is now fried and I am a very happy man. You totally did the right thing by alerting people to this. This product should be been recalled or never released if it wasn't ready. There's no way a product like this should break a camera. Would someone without a youtube following get a replacement camera cost so quickly (if at all)? I appreciate your transparency.

Hey Jason did you find out what the jumping was on live view? I thinks might have something to do with the lens stabiliser, I had the same issue when I turn it on on one of my sigma lenses on my Sony a99 and a7r2, you can also see it jump through the viewfinder. JR

I watch so many Sony & adaptor vids on youtube, and whilst some are MUCH better than others, I'm glad I stuck with native lenses.

Jason how do you think this adapter would work with the A7ii. I would really like it to work on the Sigma 50mm f1.4 for Nikon.

Jay, I gotta say you're a patient man and very diplomatic at that. You gave that adapter every chance to perform as advertised, but it's obvious it not ready yet. They gotta recall them and go back to the drawing board!

Jason I have a question. I have the Nikon D810 and D7000. I shoot portraits mainly, events, weddings.I'm trying to teach myself video and also looking for the whole package with photography. I am trying to weight my options here. I want to purchase another body but thinking about switching to Sony but I am afraid. I was thinking about the Sony A6300 will I regret this purchase? Should I just get the Nikon D750?

The Techart Pro enables the A7RII, A7II, 6300 and 6500 to AF with many af and MANUAL lenses by moving in and out. Designed for Leica M mount lenses but works with many other mounts via adapters. I use it with many non G Nikon lenses because the Nikon G adapter doesn't fit right yet. Google it. There is a ton of info on the Fred Miranda site.

I have no plans to buy one right now. I'm very curious to see how it works out since there is some Nikon glass I would like to shoot again on my a7r ii. I switched them out for Canon when I moved to Sony wouldn't mind buying them again if I could use them.. But, this adapter just doesn't look ready for prime time.

Is that wide angle zoom the tokina 16-28? If so then that's probably why it's not working as the tokina is itself a third party lens. With other adapters like the metabones canon-sony e adapter, the third party lenses also don't work.

FYI, I have been testing my new a6300 with the Metabones EF-to-E Mark IV adapter with my Canon-mount lenses (Tokina 11-16mm and Tamron 24-70mm) and everything seems to be working very well. Also, I threw my Canon 580EX II flash on the hot shoe and it worked every time. Then I connected my Yongnuo YN622C-TX Controller and YN622 C Transceiver (that was bought for my Canon system) to the camera and flash externally and they also worked without fail! Turns out, I have to buy a whole lot less than I thought in order to swap over to this Sony system. I'm not sure how my flash and the controller/transceiver will work with an A7RII, but that's another test for another day, whenever I buy that body.

It's great the Fotodiox replaced your camera. Sets a precedent for all other photographers that are having camera damages. Now cameras can be replaced. Hope they work out the issues.

I just purchased my sony a7 r ii 2 days ago and I found to be having the same problem and I am using the Nikon F Mout to Sony e mount and I am using the Nikon 28 to 70 1:28 ED glass . I'm having the same problem as it is grabbing a video that Camera shared down twice the latest wouldn't focus and I've tried several lances I've tried my 70 to 200 my 80 to 200 and my 14 to 24 mm and the only glass that seem to work without problem was my 24 to 85 3.5 which is the ED glass and I had no problems at all with this glass, it's funny I glass that I don't even use work fine but all my expensive glass has problems what do I do.

Wow, thanks Jason! I shoot with Sony A7R II and Metabones a lot. The Fotodiox would be an interesting option for expanding the possibilities, but honestly, if this is how it performs - from frying the camera to not focusing properly - there's no way in hell I would buy one. If there's even the slightest chance of damaging an expensive piece of gear like A7R II, as a consumer, I will not touch that adapter with a 10-foot pole. Heed this Fotodiox and get your act together, or keep losing consumers and money.

If Fotodiox do own up to the issues with the adapter and stay honest, they have a measure of my respect. Keep fighting the good fight for AF Nikon on Sony.

I try my Nikon 85mm 1.8 lens at Sony a6300 with Commlite CM-MF-NEX adapter and those pictures are so damn clear and sharp,Sony play good with Nikon lenses and my Sigma 18-35 art (FE) mount too with adapter, yesss i save much money with lenses now,even need shoot manual focus,but for AF shoot i have Sigma 19mm art and 60mm art E mount for Sony,so good i can now use my Nikon lens too with a6300 and that is just great camera and my first Sony😀

Could the 05mm noise be from VR engaging (half press) and disengaging (after a few seconds' idle)? I don't have 105VR, but some VR lenses produce more noise than others, though I have never experienced a body-body variation.

How come you can't adapt lenses to a6000? I was going to put a beercan lens on a a6000 with a la-ea adapter. This made me hesitate.

Wish you tested it on different Nikon glass ; 58mm 1.4G, 85mm 1.4G, 105mm F2 DC, 105mm 1.4G , 180mm 2.8D , 200mm 2 , 300mm 2.8, 70-200mm 2.8 , etc. but I understand the fear of potential damage to them.

A youtuber Eric Rossi just killed his A7II using that fotodiox adapter like yesterday... shouldn't they recall this or something? It's kind of a big risk for the consumer...

When I heard about this I had such high hopes as the inability to adapt my nikon lenses is what is holding me back from switching. Hopefully the 2nd Generation will fix the issues or another company will step up. Us nikon users want to use Sony cameras too

on the 105 the jump you said its the vr . and many times my 105 dosnt focus and hunts when i put a macro adaptor on. i just manual focus the close i can and the halfpress and get the auto to finish the focus

I had the same problem with mine. Hunting for focus, making weird noises, not taking a picture when I push the button. Kind of upset about not being able to update the firmware also.

well after seeing the video im still not convinced it working the best it could and think they need to go back to the drawing board and get the bugs out and post that if it breaks your camera they will pay you for a new one but the main thing it seems to picky on nikon lenes it should work on all modern lenes and not just a few in the real world and im still not getting one does metabones make a converter for nikon to sony please reply thanks bruce edmonton canada

I bought a fotodiox ef-nex adapter because I don't have enough money to buy the metabones. I'll mainly use it for video(manual focus) on my only camera, the a6300. Lets hope it doesn't ruin it...

Nikon glass owners who want to use their glass at their optimum performance are better off buying a D810 or D750, instead of a Sony E-Mount camera. If you want a Sony camera, native lenses are always the best way to go. The big problem is money. LOL. Sony Zeiss, G & GM lenses are expensive.

The thing that is a mystery to me is how can an adapter brake a camera, your A6300 is gone for good they compensated you for it ... it's a good thing but if someone could explain why ...

Looks like a pretty poor performance. They need to allow the camera to focus in a hybrid mode like the metabones which now allows you to in the advanced mode giving you the full frame to focus in and not just the pdaf points in the centre. Not sure if you noticed but an update in the metabones a while back shrank the pdaf zone. shooting in the standard mode I find it hunts on my a7rii to the outer area of the pdaf zone with canon lenses. None of them are perfect but then it's pretty amazing to use different brand lenses on the Sony cameras.

pinball noise would be the motor in the adaptor moving the mechanical aperture in the nikon lenses. because the nikon lenses use mechanical apertures this cannot be avoided sony canon and other lens manufacturers use electronic aperture control

Hi buddy . Can you please please tell me if I can use this 18-55 Nikon af-s dx (aps-c) lens on my a7rii with a manual aperture adapter.. ?? I have purchased a neewer manual adapter.

The semi mechanical bajonett interface from Nikon is a nightmare. I asume there is a motor inside the adapter which can allways be blocked and start to draw excess power from your camera and kill it. Battery cusumption would be a indicator for a possible malfunctioning. Obviously the interface of the Sony is not well enough protected and Fotodiox also did not limit the current consumation which is a huge error. I would not trust this adapter further than I could throw it,....

You need to do a follow up with a a6300 do you trust that it is not a camera killer. This worked so bad you needed to trash the Co.I like most people do not have the cash or your big name to go after getting $$$$ from them. I have a feeling Fotodiox's engineers are going to get a lot of heat. I have seen 3 cameras fried from this, a good thing with twitter,IG, YT and other social media companies will be held accountable. The bad part for the company it can sink them fast.
