Three under construction, two fitting out, and another on order. That isn't even including the Freedom class variants.

The U.S. Navy would never allow footage to be released if it was classified or potentially a breach of security. I'm sure they look at every bit of the footage after anything is filmed on the ship.

No.. The Independence class LCS is just one of the 8 possible contenders for the FFG(X) program. You've got Freedom class LCS, Italian/French FREMM frigate, British Type 26 frigate, Spanish Navantia, etc.. Unfortunately the Freedom class LCS is not among prime contenders. I would also like for this awesome looking Klingon "Bird of pray" ship to become a deadly frigate for the US Navy but it likely won't happen.

vegass04 pretty sure the Independence has won the FFG(X) program, some are being refitted to FF weapons loadout and others are being built as a FF

Austal is designing a contender for FFG(X) based on an upsized Independence class design. The current Independence class is unable to meet most of the FFG(X) requirements, as it cannot fit mk41 VLS, or other components necessary for a capable multi-role combatant.

I really wish I could tour these ships and all of the ships honestly. I agree with demanding more for the US tax dollar. However, beyond that, I'm really not sure what you're talking about. The USS Cowpens is a Tico-class guided-missile cruiser with 21 active ships, more scheduled for decommissioning, the last commissioned in 1994, and is not being used as the basis for any new USN design. The two LCS classes were canceled from their original intended quantity of another 20-ships or so, and the FFG(X) Guided-Missile Frigate program was implemented specifically due to the two LCS-class designs, including this one, being overpriced at $400 to $500m per hull, and under-armed, with no VLS capability, minimal missile strike capability (Independence-class only, none for the Freedom-class), and determined to be too costly to swap mission modules so they simply don't do so. This is in addition to reports of these ships not being reliable enough to stay out on a full deployment, both LCS classes aren't armed with much firepower beyond short-ranged guns and self-defense. For example, this video shows the maximum firepower of both classes, with the 57mm, Harpoons (being replaced by the more capable NSM), autocannons, and 11-missile self-defense RAM launcher. During their shock tests before commissioning, one of the new Freedom-class LCS ships had to undergo 6-months of repairs for small leaks to the ship, even though they specifically underpowered the size of the water blast by 50% to avoid damage. Anyway, back to the Constellation-class frigate design, which was selected from six bids overall. The winning bid will include standard armament of 32 VLS tubes, with potentially 48 in an updated design/variant. That's in addition to the 57mm cannon, 16x NSM pods (long-range attack), and 21-cell RAM launcher for self-defense missiles. The VLS tubes alone make this better than the LCS-class designs, as they can host an array of SM-series missiles for anti-aircraft/anti-missile and surface defense, and additional NSMs or Tomahawks. The key is to consider the 32 VLS tubes as capable of being maximized in their loadout, due to ship defense and anti-ship capabilities having a baseline capability from the 21-cell RAM and 16x NSM canisters, respectively. They will be manufacturing 20 to possible 32 of these ships, and they cost more at about $950m per vessel, but they're also much more capable than the LCS classes and are based on a well-established and proven design from the primary Italian warship design-firm (a lot of EU export classes). They will be capable of both independent deployment and carrier support.

id love to be bought for my country but at the 1/5th, maybe 1/6th of the price, fill their hungars with apache attack helicopters and acc/on for 100 marines and it will make the best littoral ships ever. air , ASW protection can be done by biger ships (frigates, destryers) and theyy can be the long arm of every navy with long coastline and many islands like Greece. H arpoon missiles is a great add on, maybe one autonomus air to air system or a CIWS could complete the package. the great landing area of this ship is a great advantage that many other assets can be added on
