As usual, I was rooting for the senior side. Really nice court positioning overall, and solid racquet skills. Thanks for posting.

I know this isnt related but im a junior and I just lost 0-6 2-6 in the finals of my tournament to a serve and volley in a 30 minute match. I just felt helpless on court. Do you have any tips for playing serve and volley opponents? You seem to have experience with them and success so I thought I might ask. Thank you.

Rishi Khot well... if they are serving lights out getting most first serves in and have a really big first serve then you can’t really rely on easily breaking them. In that case your going to also need to hold your serve and take them to a tie breaker (similar to how a John Isner match usually plays out). What usually happens when I’m playing a serve/volley is they’ll get out of rhythm at some point and give a small opening.. you’ll have to capitalize on it. Be patient, be sure to hold your serve, and don’t get discouraged if they’re serving lights out. Your going to have to weather the storm and watch for an opening if they let their foot off the gas. Additionally, serve/volley often like rushing in really close to the net so be sure to try lobs to keep them honest. Obviously the other best option is aiming down the line and remember to keep your eye on the ball and don’t worry about what they’re doing you need to pick your spots and they’ll have to guess left or right, the pressures really on them.

work your returns in practice a lot. During match time, even if they are serving well, do your best to keep applying pressure by getting the returns back at his feet. Pick up their serving patterns, everyone has one during big important points. Force him to have to volley up. And As iRacer said, make sure you hold serve, holding serve also helps with applying that pressure, which usually forces your opponent to go for more, or think twice about their "normal" serving spots.

2:10 You have amazing groundies, but you really need to close in on the net and finish the point.

2:20 was the perfect opportunity to hit an approach shot and follow it in.
