They rate Aerus Electrolux towards the middle of the pack, yet, in my everyday circumstances, they clean better, more flexible, and more dependable than the junk they highly rate. Better yet, the old Electrolux models they rated tops thirty or more years ago, with proper maintenance, can still do as good, or even better, cleaning job than any other vacuum, even the newer Aerus models. I have one, had it "serviced" (I think they just cleaned it up, nothing else), and does a phenomenal job cleaning carpets, floors, the car (with the Sidekick power nozzle attachment), walls, etc. And the ONLY vacuum that STILL HAS A BLOWER PORT, TO BLOW AWAY DUST UNDER YOUR REFRIGERATOR, FREEZER, ETC.

After being an avid CR reader for many years, and acquiring knowledge in the world of Vacuum Cleaners, you are much better off going to a vacuum cleaner store than to trust Consumer Reports’ ratings on vacuum cleaners. No credible vacuum cleaner repair shop looks highly on these ratings because Consumer Reports doesn’t test vacuums for things that matter for the quality of the vacuum. Not testing adequately for durability, motor life expectancy, ease of use, ease to repair, cost of parts, using a proper particle counter to register dust emissions. They also rely on inherently inaccurate data from consumers on their “broken” vacuum cleaners, who likely do not maintain their machine properly. Go to see someone who actually works on them and fixes them everyday. You’ll see plenty of Sharks, Bissells, Eurekas, etc... Shark’s illustrious repair program which doesn’t fix the machine, but rather replaces it with a new one is exactly how Shark made it to the top of the “reliability” ratings.
