Welcome to episode 110 of the Commander's Guild: "I Have 7 Mana? Cool, I Win!" Every week I go to scryfall.com and randomly select a card, making a budget (under $100) commander deck around it and showcasing a gameplay video of the deck. This week I'm joined by Giraffanat, Tim, and Grubble.

This week's random card is Firemind's Foresight (Suggested by AnMagicCard on Twitter) and uses Vadrik, Astral Archmage as the commander. As soon as I saw Firemind's Foresight I knew there had to be a three card combo it could search for that would win the game. Turns out I was right but it does include a reserve list card. Lightning Bolt + Reset + Reiterate end the game pretty quickly considering it can generate infinite mana and damage. Other than that we've also got some instant/sorcery support to find our combo and protect it.

Another combo you can get is [[Electrodominance]] and [[reiterate]] for infinite damage by copying Electrodom (with Vadrik at +3 power. Or get [[Searing touch]] [[Desperate ritual]] and [[reiterate]] for infinite mana to sink into searing touch (with Vadrik at +4 power).

Nice! I always forget that Electrodominance is technically two mana. Thanks for the recommendations.

Or u can access reiterate + electrodominance + bruteforce/forced hostility / infarituate It will give Vadrik +3 power Or u can take dispel to protect yur combo.

Grapeshot would add another win condition here, although since it's sorcery speed you'd have to do it on your turn. (And of course Firemind's Foresight doesn't fetch it.) It doesn't work with Reset, but it would with the Dualcaster Mage combo.

True. In theory any one mana instant that does damage could be used instead of Lightning Bolt and still be fetchable. Grapeshot does add flexibility though.

If I'm not missing something, Turnabout is another blue instant that can untap your lands. If you have vadrik at 2 power it will only cost 2 blue to cast. It got a reprint in Dominaria Remastered and is super cheap.

That is true and should probably be included in the deck. The only downside is that it can’t be searched out with Firemind’s Foresight to present a win immediately.

Reiterate on inspired tinkering gives you your entire deck in exile to use and infinit treasures

Thanks! This game really just solidified how good negate is for me. I put it in most of my blue decks at this point.

@@DungeonLearnersGuide I have a cyc rift that I will put in also with a personal tutor. This deck may not win every every game but the commander is so under the radar that I can probably do some fun stuff with it

@thriftypsgr Cyc Rift feels really good in this deck. Especially since it’s a two drop you could get with Firemind’s Foresight.

Another combo you can get with Firemind's Foresight is Fall of the Titans, Desperate Ritual, and Reiterate.

Oh yeah, that’s a good one! I wasn’t thinking Fall of the Titans would work because it only hits two targets but you can just Reiterate it to win the game.

What does "No Game Memory" mean when Grubble displays that note at 30:40?

I genuinely do not remember. My best guess would be that it’s referencing the previous game we had and he’s attempting to avoid being attacked for something that happened in another game. So he’s saying that each game should be a clean slate.

I don’t know a ton about cedh but Vadrik feels like it could be a good fit with the right support pieces.

Honestly, I started by trying to find a three card combo that could end the game after casting Firemind’s Foresight. After that I figured I’d need some support for spells, ways to make mana, draw cards, and so on. But it really all started with the combo. I hope that helps answer your question! 😊

@@DungeonLearnersGuide most of my question yeah, its just sometimes hard to fill the decks with cards and choosing the commander especially with so many options, so how do you deal with all that content to sift through

Oh yeah, that’s a tough one. Usually I use Scryfall to narrow down searches. Like, for this deck, I knew I wanted instants and sorceries that draw cards so I only searched for cards that did that and then picked out the ones I wanted. Then I did the same for support pieces, finding cards that cared about when I cast instants and sorceries. I also knew I’d need some interaction so I searched for counterspells and removal. I use Scryfall for almost everything when I’m building my decks.
