Enjoyed the history lesson. My mother worked at the Polaris plant in Beausejour in 69. We got to buy a 68 Colt and we were hooked on the sport.

Yes I remember Jack winning and racing the red toboggin in Peterborough Ontario. Then he went to Artic Cat I believe and he was a full lap ahead and I was at the fence trying to tell him slow down your ski is falling off and he went two more laps and lost it in corner 3.

I remember seeing the Redline at the Toronto snowmobile show in early 2000’s. it was a radical design that blew me away. I picked up a redline brochure of their sleds and I still have it. They advertised a four stroke vtwin version along with a 2 stroke 1300cc.

Kohler 2 strokes were built in Mississauga (Toronto) Ontario. My college class toured their plant in 1972 when I was training for the small engine trade. Another manufacturer was CCW - Canadian Curtiss - Wright, who was actually an aircraft engine company. Both were pretty good engines for their day. Breaker points, diaphragm carbs. I worked forma dealer who sold MF Ski Whiz, MotoSki, Scorpion, Roll O Flex and the Raider machines. The Raiders were unique, race-car cockpit style, rear engine twin tracks. Sure wish I had kept one for myself. Used CCW 340 and 440 engines.

I grew up in northern N.D. in the late 70’s and the only sleds we ever had were Sno Jet. My favorite was the SST 440, that thing felt like it’d do 100 mph! 🤣 Course I was only 11. Where’s the Sno Jet? 😊

I remember our Boa-Ski 440. That sled when it was running was a beast. Also Dad had a Merc 340 Sno-Twister that was also fast for its day. It blew up and he traded it for a Nordic 640 with reverse. That Ski-Doo was a big sled but I would ride in front of him and I remember racing my Cousin and Uncle on his old TnT and that TnT was a real runner! Good ole days!

NDI remember a TX 300 polaris when I was a kid in Wishek ND would clean everybodies clock but you couldnt keep the skiies on the ground cool on straight aways but come to a curve n you had to slow way down to keep it on the track. a friend of mines dad owned it it was super modified just unreal how fast it was for a TX 300.

Was so surprised to see a Ski Bee Scout. I grew up on a farm 80 miles west of Langham Sask., where those were made. We had a different model the Commander. It was a family sled, 20 in track and bigger seat. It was the same base colour, rusty/ugly red and yellow. Bright yellow. Not very reliable, always something falling off or breaking. The Rolo Flex Wild One was cool to see, I remember their ads on TV that had a kit to get rid of the skis in the summer and put 2 wheels on front for steering. It had a fan cooled engines and bogey wheels so you could supposedly do that. I think the idea was to have 1 rec vehicle for year round. My cousin had the Polaris 250 free air twin. Good sled.

Nice! I bought a txl Indy and the owner claimed it was one of the very first made. He claimed that it was featured on a magazine cover with the Unser brothers. He had a fake nose piece that they rigged on because they hadn't even produced the proper piece yet. I got in touch with Polaris and talked with their wise-man. He was super helpful but couldn't find any info on it. It needed a lot of work to get it in running shape, but it was fun!

The Wild one is made in Regina Sk. You have the fan cooled version. there was a Roll-o Flex Wild One F/A . Larry Mauws Canadian champion was the designer of the Rollo flex Wild One , there is quite a story behind the Wild One and i wish i could talk to you . He also was considered the inventor the suspension in that machine. Roll-o-flex used numerous motors until Larry became involed and they switched to Yamaha and were really good sleds . Now the Hiawatha was made by Polaris in Besaugiour Manitoba where Polaris had a factory making mostly private label product. Hiamatha was sold throught MacLoed Hardware Stores , now there there was another private label Polaris made for Marshall Wells . Beautiful collection.

I forget who made them, my Uncle had a sled with 2 rear track, it was a Double Eagle. you sat in it not on it, rear engine, he started selling sleds in the early 70's Scorpion's ' Whip was one of them, none were HP til later 70's when he started to sell SkiDoo and Kawasaki.

Yamaha is developing an 850 2 stroke though anyhow and guarentee it will be better and more reliable than any 850 in the business.
