Oh I love this recording - the tempo is as it is intended. There are some wonderful other recordings, but often they are a bit slowe, and the theme, the Paganini Rondo from a violinconcerto is fast. And note how musically satisfying, fun, joking, the superfast passage is, the one at 02:10 - two-hand chromatic figure upwards to a trill, and then - suddenly the trill goes pianissimo and is waiting to explode! Love it.

I have watched this video a thousand times, but this time I decided to watch it only looking at her facial expression. It is so amazing how she enjoys the music, getting emotional in passages and singing the melody to herself that brought tears to my eyes once again

Resplendent performance. The dynamism in the hands and fingers is so stirring and impressive. Valentina Lisitsa gives an enrichment of colour, light, rhythmic drive, balance and a beautiful monumental shot playing the difficult and gorgeous 'La Campanella!'

I wish classical concerts and recitals would dispense with the whole etiquette thing of dictating to fans when to and not to cheer and applause. I know part of it is about not interrupting a performer's concentration or the natural flow of the piece, etc., but If I were the performer I'd be thrilled if the crowd was that excited.

I was there and her performance was really fascinating. She played this after three-hour recital and I think she must have been exhausted. Still, there's no doubt that this performance is awesome.
