When he was bringing sexual questions and sometimes referred to himself, he wasn’t being honest, he was just trying to see the reaction of the suspect. This was my town and my law school. For people criticizing the detectives you all need to recognize something in this case. This guy was a law student, about to take the bar exam. He had a background in criminal law practice. Meaning he was very much aware of what was happening, possible defenses and how to behave to initiate certain defenses, how to not incriminate himself, etc. This wasn’t like interrogating an average guy off the street. They did a good job in this interrogation when you read into the case and see the evidence that was presented in court. The bluff may not have worked but he boxed himself in on other issues.

This red shirt detective really makes me uncomfortable with the whole "you look at girls and must want to have sex with them right?" And then when the suspect said no he's all surprised. like idk if that is good evidence to go against him LOL I mean the killer is still creepier and an awful person, but this definitely wasn't my favorite interrogation. Edit: replying to comments below: I understand after closer inspection and from random people in the comment section that this is a tactic to push the killer into confessing, and it may not be reflective of the detective's actual thought process (I mentioned this in the replies below but I feel like nobody read it). This comment was my first impression and yes, if someone had said this in another context (the whole having sex with people on the street thing), it would have made me uncomfortable. But after some explanation, I can see why he said that. No where in this comment did I ever say these detectives were worse than the killer. I even pointed out that the killer is awful because I knew someone would say that. Of course the killer is worse. Of course the killer is 10000x more horrible. But JCS videos aren't just about the killer, it's about the interrogation and the detectives, hence all the commentary about their tactics. Me saying these detectives weren't my favorite out of the bunch of detectives from the other cases doesn't negate the fact that the killer is still the killer. We're just not talking about him in this comment. And yes, even after all the explanation and me understanding their reasoning, compared to the ones in other videos, these still aren't my favorite detectives. Or rather, because this sounds like I'm judging their person and some were offended by that, this wasn't my favorite interrogation. Even if them saying all that stuff was a tactic to get the killer to confess/slip, it didn't even work, which was why it felt creepy on their end, because from the viewers standpoint, it's just them saying creepy stuff with no encouragement or response. They also made assumptions (him killing her at his house) and tried to use that against him, which didn't work, because it was false. They went aggressive on him and then flipped to a reassuring tone, instead of the other way around, which made it difficult for the entire tactic to work.. They were just going in the wrong directions for a huge part of the interrogation. It also didn't help that the killer was terrifying as well. The entire thing felt unprofessional and panicked. So therefore, this isn't my favorite interrogation, and, out of the bunch of detectives I've watched in these videos, they weren't my favorite detectives. Before someone says this, I know it's a hard career. I dont know anything about this field, and I wouldn't have done a better job if I was placed in that position, because I have never been trained to be a detective. I will admit that my opinion may be partially formed out of hindsight, and so it may be unfair. I get that, which is why I am no longer forming my opinion based on the people, but just based on the interrogation. With that being said, I still stand by my original comment. What the guy in the red shirt said did make me feel uncomfortable, and it still wouldn't have been good evidence to go against him even if he had responded. And if that statement is "completely normal" to say,, as someone claimed below, then it would've made even less sense for them to bring it up, as the killer responding to it would be completely normal as well. In other words, the only way the detectives could've brought this up without it making them seem like they were being pointless, is if THEY knew the statement itself IS creepy, and if the killer responded to it, then he would've come off creepy as well (though it wouldn't incriminate him), OR they knew that the statement was shocking enough to push the killer to confess. Their statement was SUPPOSED to harbor the response that I expressed in my original comment, meaning it wasn't supposed to be considered "human nature" or "rational" at all. So again, what the guy said did make me uncomfortable, and now I know it was supposed to. I understand why he said it and therefore won't apply the same feelings onto the detective, but whoever defended those statements as "normal" definitely wouldn't have been on the same side as the detectives. AND ALSO, because someone thought this was his bullet-proof argument that would "break people's realities", even if a grown woman had said this, it would've made me uncomfortable. If it was about a homosexual relationship, it would've been uncomfortable. Anyone saying (sans context) that they would see people on the street and imagine them in sexual scenarios, would make me uncomfortable. That is not an argument. That is just projecting your own reality onto us, which is why no one replied to it. I never had double standards or discriminated against men in this comment, so whoever thinks about commenting that is really just being the discriminating ones themselves. That is my overall opinion. I apologize if it irritated you.
@marxunderhill6737
@marxunderhill6737 3 года назад
So you think that a heterosexual guy that looks at a girl and thinks she's pretty and has the thought of what would it be to be with her sexually is uncomfortable? Would you be presented with the same scenario but rather than a guy it would be a heterosexual girl looking at a guy and thinking that, or even more so a homosexual girl/guy, would you still think is "uncomfortable"? There's nothing weird about looking at someone and feeling attraction. It's only normal, just because you don't look at someone that way or because you've never been seen that way does not make it abnormal. In any case the detective used that to cause a reaction or to prompt a more dynamic response, other than "yes, no, I don't know".
