I have actually written a scene for that in my VC discussion on a history forum: An Imperial sniper (A renowned marksman and head of the Imperial Army's sniper school) was on the Marmota and had Alicia in his scope. He could have easily sniped Welkin as he ran towards her. But when he saw Alicia powering down from the Final Flame mode after Welkin got on him knees to proposed to her, and the two of them embraced each other kissing, he was so touched that he lowered his rifle, removing his helmet and wiping a tear from his eyes. Walking away, he whispered to himself: 'I will get the two of you someday. But not now. Not like this.' Even in times of war, sometimes, a bit of basic humanity and kindness can still shine though.

*in birdperson voice* In the Empire, firing a sniping shot a soldier declaring their love for another soldier on the battlefield is considered a dick move.

@@LancerkingNoel I'm also quite sure it would just bring even more unwanted attention from the Empire and the Atlantic Federation. They both certainly want Valkyria for their own means, and knowing a small country has them would definitely tempt them to attack.

@@TMX1138 Except they defeat him, without having to sacrifice Alicia. Besides, if Welkin had let her go through with it, he would be no different from Maximillian, who pushed Selvaria to do the same thing in the _previous chapter._

Joe Devaney Had he let Alicia sacrifice herself, the capital wouldn't have been put at risk though.
