I wouldn't necessarily stop improving your setup because of a lack of feedback. Most people will just not consciously notice many small differences but it still affects them positively. It's like a job well done making people wonder if you did anything.
Artosis. I am nearly as old as you (1990). I have watched your casts since I was 14. There has never been a more technical and precise English caster for StarCraft EVER. Since 2004 you have awed me, and from your knowledge, you have sculpted my understanding of StarCraft with the single consequence that I as an audience member and casual gamer can dare to approach your appreciation for the game. Your legacy is that you have broadened both appeal and comprehension of the game with a depth of detail unmatched by other caster professionals (though I respect and enjoy their perspectives as well). The only thing for you to do is to create more content; you cannot be better than the best that ever was -which is you. How can you improve? Not sure, make more pls and take care! All the best to you and your family.
Quite some time ago I pointed out that you don't talk much about armor and weapon upgrades or click single units to show those upgrades. In this game you did excellent job keeping track of them, and showing them on units.
D-matrix firebat, always fun to see. I feel like it would be interesting to see someone do like 3 of those at once vs. a dark swarm and see what happens.
The production top left is pretty awesome, not sure when you added that but it's nice for sure. Your casts have been such high quality dude, any upgrades i can barely tell sonce i watch on tablet usually. Been watching/playing SC for like 20 years, theres no better casting out there. At most if you ever get stuck trying to figure out what to cast, those polls you do with options are great. Cheers man, winters almost over, keep healthy above all else.
I watch most of your casts from my phone during work. Your casts are good enough I can tell what is going on without seeing the screen. Thank you for the daily casts Artosis.
Thank you Arty for the casts! The quality definitely keeps improving! Can't say what it is, but I notice differences when I watch previous casts. Thank you for your effort!!
I’ve noticed excellent improvement in audio quality and balance between spoken and game audio since your earlier daily casts, it really improves the experience of enjoying a cast! I also appreciate how you always keep note of the time and what each player knows and doesn’t know at key moments
Hey artosis i am an avid watcher of ur casts. I have to say your camera control and movement as a caster has become so so much better recently. Keep it up! It makes a surprisingly big difference in the enjoyment of ur videos.
I definitely notice every improvement you've made so far. I just don't want to spoil anything for other viewers by listing them out in the comments. Huge props RT for continuing to improve!
I appreciate these videos Artosis. Lifes been rough the last few months and having the ability to try n calm down n relax to watch some SC BW helps. You and FP help
You have the best audio in the game, it's appreciated! Ever since ASL 16 when JyJ got Armor before +1 I’ve been wondering if Terran could sit at home with Armor and Turrets while rushing Valks. Edit :: At one point you explained how Hyuk would mentally identify Mind’s build, that kind of explanation was super helpful to me thank you
This was a very interesting game. You could see both players figuring out how to play this map in real time - some cool ideas in here that I'll try to copy in my own games!
Sometimes im mega tired when watching these, sometimes I just listen to them half asleep and have the game played out in my head by the commentary, radio style 😂
Definitely enjoying watching games on this map, that tight path direct from the 3rd definitely causing some weird unit movement at times I think but overall neat and super useful for fast counter attacks.
In one of his or their previous casts, he said that either he and/or tasteless are out of town for a few days and the casts will be recorded all in one day and released afterwards
This was a great game and cast! In terms of video quality I still remember watching the old highly compressed internet videos of unremastered starcraft you and tasteless were casting before sc2 came out so everything now looks great to me! I appreciate all you do to improve your videos but I probably don’t pick up on the smaller adjustments.
Your in-game clock comment made sense but to the high level pros it didn't really matter if it was there or not because majority of korean pros played Brood War in a windowed mode anyway and had the windows taskbar clock present to reference.
5:10 well the thing is basically everyone played with a plugin that added a visible game timer clock anyway and have been for like 15 years, alongside a lot of other not-cheaty plugins like anti-cheats, windowed mode, and EUD enablers for custom maps. basically the logic for why is that you've always had the option to just use a stopwatch yourself to time things out from the start of the game anyway, so it cant really be considered cheating at all to just have it visible ingame on your screen where its easier to see.
I love valks but don't love how much they delay vessels. Even when he crushed the muta flock, killing a few overlords, etc, it all was sorta mute in that hyuk kept his third base. To me, if a zerg gets his third base up and mining before T starts his third, almost regardless of how early skirmishes go, it's so hard for T to take it. I think arty correctly pointed out that if mind had more killer instinct and tried to go for the kill after that massive early game battle win, he would have had a much better chance. Super cool game, love the casts!
"there's no day i dont check the comments. and normally i'll give a thumbs up and a heart to a couple comments, and then someone will complain about something that's stupid and they'll be completely wrong and i'll call them a moron and then call it a day." so incredibly based omg
I haven’t played SC. Since 2003 but watching his vids on stronk players makes me wax nostalgic. Also holy shit, it’s amazing how much damage 2 0/0 valks did to that muta ball. Like jesus Chris really. Were they buffed or something?
Why did he stop building bunkers at the expansions? Why only one depot? Like 2-3 bunker with a firebat and couple of rines and some depos to wall would've really helped to protect those tanks.
Improvement usually aren't consciously noticed, but decreases in quality always are. So unless people complain about quality or such, don't stop improving, even if it goes unnoticed.
Thanks for another good cast. I got 2 questions: 1) Will there be any casts of 2vs2 player games? 2) Can you place the player name next to the aliases in the top of the screen?
I do feel like Mind lost sooo many Vessels too easily. I know it's hard to move them efficiently, but damn those are some lost opportunities for more D-matrix to cast on Firebats.
surprised zerg kept it so close, def thought they were pretty doomed after the valks killed all the mutas, and then picked off so many lurkers. That narrow path into 3rd was the saving grace I think, very powerful harass venue=.
I've noticed in TvZ a big part of the match up is macro and map control. Like being out towards the center of Retro and watching a Defiler put down the world's saddest Dark Swarm makes the Zerg so easy to control. It's almost how Protoss is expected to make Terran constantly Siege and Unsiege across the map. This map is so segmented and short, it seems like the only spots you can hold to force Dark Swarm is the Zerg's ramp and the middle low ground. I think as this plays out, if Terran doesn't win with a rush, the late game will be very hard.
Your casts rock Artosis, I was totally rooting for that play with the valkyries, but was pretty disappointed when I saw them being underutilized for overlord harass.
Mind had air superiority in the form of three Valkyries, two Dropships, and two Starports incl. addons. So instead of building his third on location, where it proved to be vulnerable to defiler play, what if he'd built an island expo instead?
Yo Arty why hasnt AfreecaTV n Tastosis updated the ASL casting past groups A, B and C 😭, starcraftTV has groups D, E and F already up….i havent watched it on theirs because we rather see it through yall. Not complaining, just curious! I’ll wait as long as needed, much love🙌🏼
In a similar vein to covering the bot vs. player matches, I think newb vs. newb (or super casual) matches would be interesting, if there are any to be found (or more likely, arranged). It's just not as entertaining when both players are meta-gaming so heavily through knowing the map down to the pixel or knowing exact enemy construction and production times.
I remember back when Valks first entered the meta, I think it was Fantasy who first started using them? I always wondered what took so long, since Valks were literally put into the game to counter mutas, yet they took a while to get adopted into pro play.
@@skykurreally? didn't know that EDIT: are you just talking about the sprite limit bug? Because I did know about that and didn't think it would affect most 1v1 pro matches, it usually happened in like, Fastest Map NR20 type games.
How do terrans irradiate lurks under the swarm? Pros seem pretty good and quick at it. Do just keep clicking until they hit it? Or do they have to preselect to find it? I feel like I’d accidentally hit a hydra.
valkyries are the only unit to be buffed in remastered, albeit the buff they received was that they now function properly as opposed to classic broodwar. that and the backshot micro discovery turned valkyries from a joke unit to a unit that actually does what it is supposed to do: stop mutalisks from existing.
Man those Valk vollies volleys were scary. So many missles from so deep. Do you have to precicesly micro valks to get them to do that much dmg? Or was that just an A move
I feel like sound and picture quality ist much better then on ASL - but why not 4k? 😀👍 Anyway, very good! On ASL, I feel like the sound quality of Nick is not so good and could be improved (I think it is sometimes streaming artifacts plus mic(?)).
Wonder why zerg doesn't burrow their defilers in a group of lings, to protect them from irradiates? Borrow seems so underrated, even if it saves or extends the life/use of a single defiler in a game. Yeah, zerg seems too willing to just sacrifice their defilers.
Requires extra actions and attention. Starcraft at the top level is about distributing your attention properly to the entire game. You can't focus on extra small beneficial stuff like that without falling behind in some other aspect like macroing properly or army movement across the map etc. When you see players not taking care of their units it's because they're probably busy dealing with like 5 other things at that moment.
If you have the macro advantage and can afford it, I think it's not the worst idea to keep chucking units just to keep the stress and panic-defence response high.
I am really happy that you do not show so much of long distance map - the big one. Its usefull from time to time, but before you were using it all the time. Thank you for that :)
Valkyries always stuck me as Terran's 'Scout' to the Corsair's 'Wraith', if you get what I mean... it's just that in a world where Mutas are the #1 unit in the game, they're both catapulted to 'extremely good' and 'matchup-defining' instead of Wraiths/Scouts off in the corner being niche and borderline useless respectively 👀
Artosis. on 04/09 my dog will be turning 14 years old. He's still spry for his age but he has a heart condition so probably wont see another birthday. His name is Dirk Nibbler and I'm hoping you can give him a b-day shout out on the big day so his name will be forever immortalized on your cast. Either way thanks for the SC matches.
