@@ethanmueller8218 If you have no taste and you like the extremely generic bootleg anime style then yeah he did a good job. lmao Therese's face looks all kinds of fucked up tbh and her mouth is placed too high.
Nova from StarCraft II also :) anyone interested, see also: www.moddb.com/mods/vtmb-camarilla-edition Some tweaks here and there for a different playthrough.
There's one line she says as Therese with a sombre tone that reminded me of someone I couldn't put my finger on. I was sure I remembered it from a Bioware game. Turns out I was thinking of the Handmaiden from KOTOR2, and maybe a little bit of Asajj Ventress from Clone Wars ( she plays her, too.)
@KeoneArt Well, it's believed that an antedeluvian sits inside. Seeing as them waking up is supposed to cause the end of the world, it might be best if you dont. Slightly spoilerish: In all seriousness though, there is an ending where you get to see it's contents. I don't care for it, since I feel it devalues a lot of the effort you spend chasing the thing. Some people probably got a laugh out of it though.
"And aside from one of the wonkiest dancing animations ever." Whatchu talkin' bout? That's up there in the greatest dances, right next to Commander Shepard, Best Dancer on the Citadel.
It's insane how many amazing voice actors they got. John DiMaggio (Jack) became Bender and Jake the dog and Grey Delisle (Jeanette) was Azula of Avatar. LaCroix was Doug from Weeds. Wack.
@@njmfff writing (and voice acting) is not something that became better with time, more for the contrast. AAA titles nowadays mostly neglect that aspect. but the people from troika worked on the original fallout(s)
I didn't uninstal it but this story makes me want to try get the malkavian text fix mod again (I cant read the malk font, it hurt my eyes) and see if I can play malky.
Ming-Xiao with only melee is an absolute nightmare, took me half a billion attempts to kill her that way - it´s why I always recommend a clan like the Gangrel or Tremere that has a ranged single target attack for a first playthrough, a couple blood packs and a full odious chalice and you can just shred her the second the fight starts.
As Gangrel, her only achievement was to make me switch from tearing her ass in pieces to using my blood bags, like, twice. Admirable effort for someone of her ambition. What clans are you guys trying to make into a melee fighter, Toreador?
@@tenaciousrodent6251 So because someone criticises something for being "progressive" in a time of shallow lip service and virtue signalling that gets dumber each day only to pander to whatever group a corparation wants to squeeze the most money from, they are automatically "week-end waffen ss"? Did your piss poor parents punch you in the head as a kid or did they just raise you like a mouthbreather to begin with?
@@tenaciousrodent6251 You do remember where the game was set, right? Of course you can "confess" to having voted republican. The game was taking the piss out of how blinded by party loyalty that region, and especially that city, is.
Yeah there's like 2 or 3 people on the massive streets yet it feels realistic, despite me growing up in a city full of nightlife. They really nailed the atmosphere.
Agreed, brother! VTMB has such an incredibly well made atmosphere, and story. So impressive, especially after learning their production team was rushed by EA!
I skipped this game in '04 due to the atrocious reviews it got. I literally just finished it last month. Holy shit. One of the best RPGs....physically possible?
@@NeilusNihilus when the game was first released it had a bug that made the game crash during one of the cutscenes 2/3rds into the game. For a lot of people, until they patched it, the game was not able to be finished. This was also before the days of day 1 patches and always online. Games were expected to work out of the box. The game is also just a bug ridden and janky mess, it's animations were terrible. Even people that love the game understand how bad it was as well.
Gaming critics are about the biggest fucking casuals there are. Gamespot or IGN gave Alien Isolation a 5 out of 10 or some shit because he said it was "too hard" (He was a pussy and couldn't play the game for shit)
@@mofinebovine1597 Yeah you had to use console commands to beat the game, it wasn't just a bug some people found, everyone had it. People knew it was special at the time, but critics did their job and noted it was unplayable, it was a flawed masterpiece.
@Starscream91 Gotta understand, this came out a year after Morrowind, which, while fantastic, took so much work under the hood to make that game a solid experience. And that game wasn't literally broken and unfinishable at launch. No one I knew who bought this in '04 had anything to talk about other than how hilariously broken it was. Because it was hilariously broken. So I just kept playing HL2 and never looked back. Trust me. Time and a loyal fanbase have been very kind to this game that essentially launched as dead on arrival.
We played the PNPRPG and did the Mind's Eye Theater LARPing and picked this up as soon as I heard about it. Now, just waiting for the W:TA game's release.
Exactly It's less than 4GB, who doesn't have space for keeping these kind of games? I can understand uninstalling modern games even if you like them because of their huge size, but old ones? Not needed.
I prefer Velvet Valour, has a soft spot for red hair and also despite being a vampire, she is probably the most likeable character as she has a soft spot of a nerdy script writer in one of her quest
@@chillhour6155 yup.. She is a Toreador after all, another fave character in there is the movie producer who is also a Toreador. He is one of the likeable character as well also he mention "I only make influential movies not excremental"
I liked interacting with her as a Malkavian. Because of clan's crazy 'insight', you're able to tell her real name. She's not happy about it, because, apparently, the only part of her body she doesn't like penetrated is her mind.
I remember playing this at my grandmas house alot (yea she's cool) when I was 13 or something.. Looking back at its' great exploration, rpg element and character dialogue it now makes sense why I've always felt slightly underwhelmed with every game I've played in the 14 years since xD
This is indeed one of the best RPG's ever made.. what I love the most that the choices you make actually do affect the outcome of the ending.. multiple choices, clans, the world, charecters, politics, plotting (and the plot overall)
I loved the short Werwolf Sequence, i shit my Pants there every time when the motherfuckers breaks tzhrough the Walls and the sounds.. damn aht a great game.
You mate, by now realised your mistake but somebody gotta' do this: Sonny Jim you done goof'd Protean is not usable by anybody except Gangrels in the game.
I toke a sidequest, before the severlevels, wich gave me an item that would collect bloodpoints when you killed enemey, lt saved my live down there sereval times
i just know that the new game will be inferior to this one, when it comes to options and dialogue.Almost every new game that comes out these days, especially if its sequel to an old franchise, is an inferior version to its previous installment, the only thing that improves are the graphics.
Except for RE2 which was a real improvement on almost everything. But yeah, I fear especially for the "adult" content, the SJW crowd will go batshit crazy if the game is even half as adult as the old one.
@@Texelion3Dprints Who cares if it's SJW anyways? The game's set in SJW Land so it only makes sense. The whole SJW/Anti-SJW died in 2019 because a lot of people stopped caring.
Texelion 3D prints I don’t see how it’s related . Sjws are very pro sex. Only thing I could see happening is it being even more adult equally across the board.
Just like with Deus Ex everytime someone mentions VtMB someone re-installs it... If you are one of those people who wants to re-install this masterpiece I'd like to recommend two incredible mods that'll give you a whole new experience and extend your play time, these mods being the Clan Quest mod and The Final Nights mod, both are on Moddb.
@@kriegmusikkorps8768 A bit late, but I'll answer anyways. The Final Nights is essentially a harder mode for the base game, and it also allows you to play as different clans. The clans are Assamite, Salubri, Ba'ali, Samedi, and a few others I forgot, each with it's own new disciplines. It also gives you a lot of new quests and unique dialogues. I'd recommend this mod if you're already bored with the vanilla gameplay. The Clan Quest mod is almost essential for me now. As it's name state, this mod adds unique quests for each clan. But the main highlight of this mod is allowing you to join the Sabbat, complete with your own haven in a new hub (East L.A), a lot of new voice-acted characters, even the ability to diablerize a vampire (Basically stealing another vampire's power). The Sabbat storyline is so well made I might have thought that it's actually a part of the game. And every character in the mod is so well written that it truly enhances the VtM experience. I'm serious, after you buy the game, the first thing you should do is head over to moddb and install this mod. If I'm not mistaken, the mod there also includes the Camarilla edition mod, which gives some essential bugfixes and scrapped features that should be in the game during release
And I might add the Antitribu mod. It allows you to play with yet another roster of clans. Clans that are not playable in vanilla such as the Tzimisce (and the Old Tzimisce), Lasombra, Ravnos, Giovanni, and even the flesh-eating Nagaraja. I've only played with it once but it's actually quite fun. The mod is quite buggy and the development team has gone silent for some time now, but it's worth a try
Do not ever compare that shit deus ex to this legendary masterpiece. Deus ex has linear storyline and the choice doesn't matter in that shit whenever u do u would ended up in those 3 endings while this game have at least 5 ending and ur choice really affects ur ending
No flashbacks of the original Deus Ex? If you haven't gotten the game yet and are ok with old graphics then you missed a great sale on GOG, that one was going for a dollar or 2
You would have the right idea, its not just a random meme side character joke. Don't open it literally applies to the whole story and the game, another example of why the writing is so good
It's definately worth playing, one of my favorite RPGs, along with KOTOR2. Interestingly, both were rushed and unfinished, and both have fan patches (though KOTOR2'S one was mostly to restore cut content.)
@@morbid333 I just heard of this game for the first time today i feel I missed out. As a kid I played the shit out of halo 1 and they came out around the same time so I missed this one. I wanna get this but I'm worried about all the bugs and stuff I need to find out about all the mods I need to download to make it worth it but this game looks so good i can tell ill love it
Not even kidding, I thought this was one of those "so bad it's good games" when I heard people talk about it. Never looked much into this game, but now I will.
I wouldn't say "so bad it's good". I'd rather describe it as "so good it's great". The GOG version comes with the fanmade patch (with over a decade's worth of updates), or if you get it on Steam, it's easy to install the patch separately. That way you get rid of a lot of the issues and unfinished feel and you'll see it's one of best and most unique WRPGs ever. And it's a true roleplaying game with the amount and variety of options it gives you.
You're going to want to get one of the unofficial patches. The game was patched up by former devs and dedicated fans so it's playable without any game breaking glitches. The vanilla game is good, but it does need those patches for the leftover content (there's a ton of content) and go without bugs And have fun.
Can't comment on the current state of the game with the patch but when it came out it was a horrifically buggy borderline broken mess. What it did well though was so good you didn't care. I'm going to buy it again now and get it patched.
the music of this game was amazing..........damn Troika Games was great. It is a shame their games always had a lot of bugs/glitches. Wish companies still made PC only western rpg games like this. Jeanette was so hot
@@dotunfadairo8496 Hey! There're some pretty good patches, restoring cut content. VtMB unoficial, it's hard to miss it. So if you're not familiar with it id say give it a go, should scratch that itch. I had high hopes fo VtMB2, first trailer looked great, Gehena references and all that kind of good stuff. Gameplay footage looked servisable for "still in development". Some twicks here and there, modders are up to fix mechanical problems, so little by little we would have a successor. Right? And then I learned they (Paradox) droped, fucked over really, Mitsoda who worked on the storyline for like 5 years. New factions, interesting background of underground Seattle, the whole out secret vapire war and antedeluvian plotting. They were going to rewright it so I quit. I'm not the only one upset. There where people who tried to be hired to make this game possible and now it's in a coma. I don't know what caused this travesty -- Paradox being misers, Mitsoda taking too long or real Seattle riots making it banned, but what I do know -- I don't care now.
@@vespenegas261 I was really looking forward to the sequel. I don't think it's going to happen now as it looks dead. If it does get released, i reckon it will be a case of "Putting it out to die". Only thing t hat reignite my interest is if Mitsoda is rehired. Anyhoo, i'll see the unofficial path you mentioned. By any chance, does it also fix the combat? That was a complaint
@@dotunfadairo8496 There are PLENTY of new guns and they some how reworked it in from shit to somewhat useable conditions. If u have a skill. Some alterations with melee weapons. Me? I'm a broken record. If I can talk it it out -- I will. Even with a STOP sign P.S.: VTMB Patch will cover you. I understand why it was loose but it is still interesting to look at
Also for those that don’t know, Vampire the Masquerade is also a tabletop game. It’s pretty good, but the lore is ridiculously deep and uses the world building of several other tabletop games (a werewolf and a demon one are all I’ve found thus far) that are compacted into one absurdly interesting universe.
My favourite RPGs of all time: 1. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind 2. Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines 3. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 'Nuff said...
So many of these "immersive sims" are coming back with sequels, it might do me good to get their current installments but then again if the bioshock series is anything to go by it doesn't matter but then again again dishonered had a continuous story (sequel and prequel are properly connected) so really was thinking of getting this game and saw this in my notifications.
I guess you could say it's an immersive sim, even though that's a bit vague, but I'd rather say it's a true roleplaying game with the complexity of gameplay systems and options it has. It does use the same RP systems from the tabletop games it was based on, after all.
@@H41030v3rki110ny0u it's weird. As long as i need to do sth and would procrastinate by gaming, i just can't enjoy it. But if i've already done sth on the day, i can enjoy it again :)
For the PC gamers out there, how much would an older/weaker laptop cost that could run this at high settings? Besides this, The Witcher 2 and the Half-Life games I'll mainly be playing games like Morrowind, Planescape: Tournament, the Baldur's Gate games, Deus Ex and System Shock 2.
I love this game and I’m so excited for the masquerade bloodlines 2. I really hope they don’t cancel it or ruin it. It’s been years since it was announced I want it to come out so bad.
Tourette is not Camarilla, she's the Anarch Baron of Santa Monica. (and the Anarchs are not small by any means, LA is Anarch terrotory. The Camarilla's presence is rather weak, shaky and very new. Tourette is a rather power hungry Anarch Baron, so she kinda does the unthinkable for an Anarch and tries to suck up to the Camarilla (yeah, the "small faction who mostly align with the Camarilla" doesn't really stand up well, if you consider that that the Anarchs fight the Camarilla at any opportunity) to get a bigger share of power in the city.
Hey can you do a review on Redemption as well? I know that you mostly do FPS games so this isn't your target audience, but it would be nice if redemption got a bit of love as well since it is kinda the forgotten child of the RPG world.
"Everyone always says you have to replay the game as a Malkavian because it has the kind of dialog that makes the people on reddit spit out their soylent" lmao
I love this game for everything except for actually playing it. The gameplay is really janky and unfun, the combat is pretty bad, and the endgame is so linear and combat heavy that it almost feels like a different game.
this game is my fav RPG game. i played dragon age origins, baldur's gate, warband etc. But this is my fav. Game. (But i didn't finished this game :D because i m scaring some phase)
I am 44 years old, I was 30 when I first played this game and due to the endless replayability of the game had to do that damn haunted beachhouse 7,000 times. Each and every time it made me about shit my underwear. I actually have a text file in the game directory called "skip beachhouse cheat.txt" that I type into the console when given the mission to instantly bypass it. 44 years old...and I still don't want to walk my ass back in there. They did a GOOD job making that one.
I heard the "unofficial patch" has an added exit that allows you to skip that sewer sequence entirely. Wish I'd known about that before I went through that bullshit sewer segment.
"Don't open it." After my first playthrough as a Ventrue who sided with LaCroix I'll never make that mistake again. Of course, another mistake equally stupid is siding with the Kuei-jin. But I never did that myself... I mean they always rubbed me the wrong way with the smug sense of superiority in which they regard themselves over all other vampires.
Brujah don't have Protean, at least in UP10. They get Presence, Potence and Celerity. If there's a second Protean user, it's Nosferatu, I'm not sure though as I've yet to play Nos, but I finished a Brujah replay just yesterday, and no Protean. Also I'm pretty sure Tremere get Dominate, too, and Presence users, or at least Brujah, get a level one Dominate effect in dialog. For interested new people, I don't know about Steam, but at least GoG updates the game with the UP for you.
I make it a habit to pay and finish this game at least once a year since 2005, since it was the first PC game I ever owned. Mods and unofficial patches continue to (ironically) breathe life back into this dead game every time I play it. Malkavian all the way!
@@prague5419 well i guess you could possibly imagine some wild homebrew sabbat bloodline of feral brujah with protean instead of potence and animalism as option instead of presence (now more I think of it more I want to try it out)
The Camarilla are kind of an equivalent to the Illuminati but Lacroix has kind of built a pyramid and put himself on top (even Strauss plans to overthrow him)
I was hooked with the menu music alone when I was setting up my character. The haunted Mansion is still one of the best quests I've played in any game. It's a shame all the bugs with it out of the box. Very enjoyable to play know because of the morning community.
You know, it's sad that there's very little chance that the things you are lauding so heavily here are likely to make it into the sequel. Obsidian does some good work, but I think the truth of games like these are the same reason they are so infrequent and often fail. It's just a big game, with big ambitions made by a team determined to keep the source material as accurate and complete as possible. I just doubt that, despite Obsidian's reputation, they'll be able to (let alone even try) to make a game this dense. I suppose we'll see. Edit: Apparently Hardsuit Labs is making it, I don't know why I thought it was Obsidian. Still, same comment.
@Denam Hmm. I knew Paradox was publishing but I thought Obsidian was working on it. Well, you can change my last sentence because I've never heard of Hardsuit Labs and didn't play Blacklight Retribution, but other than that my comment remains the same. We shall see.
