You should do at least one song from Van Morrison's album Astral Weeks. Just pick any song from that album. Start with the first song on side A. You can't go wrong. Thanks for your show.
As a Latina who grew up surrounded by thugs listening to everything from Ramon Ayala to Michael Jackson to Tupac I gotta say, no one does it like Van Morrison. True story, I wanted to name my son after Van ❤️
The horn section on these early 70s Van Morrison records is so good. I used to have about 7 or 8 of the early albums on vinyl. Gone now. No matter, I can always listen on RU-vid.
Van Morrison is another one of the great storytelling singer/songwriters of the early/mid 1970's. It Stoned Me, Brown Eyed Girl, and Someone Like You are great songs by Van.
Some body out there has to react to the great rock blues band The Chambers Brothers .This primarily black band played the same concert circuit as Grand Funk Railroad in the sixties..Their biggest hit was Time Has Come Today..Also Love Peace and Happiness. Someone needs to give them some Love...
Ronnie Montrose was the session guitarist and had never seen charts for nor heard the song before. He took a few moments and came up with the iconic guitar riff on the spot. One of my all-time favorites.
Jonnie melon cougarcamp is one of my fav's dating back to 82. As a young Marine in SoCal, I listened to his stuff on my walkman thru headphones whether cruising San Diego or running 5 miles in the desert of 29 Palms.
That was the first song of his I ever heard, back in 1971. It was just the beginning of a long road with Van as my companion, extending even into today and concerts of his that I STILL go to. He may be a bit slower, but all that soul he ever had - he draws the audience in and lightens their load for awhile in the amazement of the space this performer gets into.
I would say for a "Van Fan", I am on the rather young side (35 years old). But for most of my 20s I lived my life with Van Morrison running through my head. I would fall asleep to his greatest hits, and they would wake me up each morning. He is by far my favorite singer/songwriter to ever live. Although I love them all, my favorite song is "Summertime in England".
My absolute favorite Van tune -- & he's got a lot of great ones. Ronnie Montrose's guitar on this track is riveting. The flanged-out sax is the best tone ever. Wow!
Fine wines & great minds, both are worth sharing w/ as many folk as possible. His broadcast was for one generation, yours is for another. Both of you listening to the same cosmic station is a compliment !!!!!
One of Van the Man’s Greatest Songs Ever… He has Many in his over 42 Albums…I love all the Horns…the Sax solo is the Seasoning 🩷. I’ve been Blessed to see Van twice…. Magical events for me. 🎵🎶 🇨🇦
My friend Sarah and I were both having a bad day, sometime back in 1989. We put this song on (on a tape deck) in her car, and drove around and listened to this song at max volume repeatedly, approximately 10-12 times. We felt better.
This is a great song!! I still love it since the radio days hearing it overplayed. It had a groove that placed it above others. I never tired of this song. LOVE VM!
Love Van Morrison, including so many I see recommended by others. Into the Mystic is not to be missed. Sweet Thing is my personal favorite. My son and I danced to Van's "Days Like This," at his wedding.
The great man from Belfast! Perfect for March the month for Irish music! Everything he did was great....soulful, blues, and the brass he sometimes used on songs!!! Note for other Irish music for March the Clancy Brothers, the Irish Rovers, The Chieftains, the Dubliners (did the best Whiskey in the Jar) and don't forget rockers the Pogues!
This song always makes me get up and dance! Been a fan of Van forever. Had the rare privilege of going to a private concert of his with only about 100 people there. They were filming videos for his "Moondance" album. Fantastic experience of a lifetime!
Hi Jamel. Just recently discovered your channel. Was searching for Eddie Van Halen solos and tuned into your "Best solo ever?" Video. I subbed immediately. GREAT channel man. So grateful for your appreciation of music from the past. Keep up this wonderful thing you're doing.
This is one of those artists that not until you listen to their greatest hits, do you realize how many of their songs you are actually familiar with. "Moondance" is still a song that makes me move.
Man, so glad you found Van! I was wondering why you haven't reacted to Sweet Thing from Astral Weeks, yet? The lyrics and mood are just incredible. It's arguably one of his most covered songs. Really enjoy you're attitude and reactions. Peace
Jamel I've done my homework and I see that you have not reacted to "How Many More Times" by Led Zeppelin. That's the ultimate lost banger from Zeppelin's first album.. Play it. You will love it.
Jamel I have just recently in the last 3 days started watching your RU-vid show I love it I own over 20,000 LPS in over 9,045 all classic. Ps. A wide variety of music. Mostly the kind of music I've been enjoying on your show.
I love Van Morrison. I first saw and heard him in 1965! He's a legend that's been around as long as any of the great Bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Another British artist that sounds like he's a soul Brother.
Had the exact opposite experience. Was at a Irish pub in San Francisco late on a Sunday night, maybe 10-12 people in the place. Van came in borrowed a guitar, sat on a stool, and played for about 20 minutes. He even took requests. Stayed another hour and just shot the shit with everyone that was hanging out. To me anyway, he was a class act that night.
He is notoriously shy. Seldom talks or interacts with the audience. I was told it's extreme stage fright. Typically closes his eyes while singing so that he can't see anyone.
It might interest you know that the bass/guitar combo on this song is Bill Church (bass) and Ronnie Montrose (guitar) who would go on to form the band Montrose with a young lead singer and rhythm guitar player called Sammy "The Little Red Rocker" Hagar - And now you know,,,,the rest of the story.
I adore Van Morrison! I have two favorite songs of his that I don’t typically see recommended. One is the title song from his album Wavelength. And the other is from the same album - Kingdom Hall. Both songs always get me singing along!
