#VandeBharatExpress #IndianRailways #FutureReady #HighSpeedTrains #cuttingedgetechnology
In this video, we delve into the reasons why having too many Vande Bharat Express trains is not a good move for India, from the perspective of technology and innovation. While Vande Bharat Express has been hailed as a symbol of progress, it falls short of global standards in terms of speed, comfort, and technology.
The Vande Bharat Express was intended to be the face of the future of Indian railways, but it has not lived up to expectations. With a maximum speed of 160 km/hour, it falls behind many other countries' high-speed trains. The train's limited seating capacity and lack of amenities also make it less comfortable than other trains.
Furthermore, the Vande Bharat Express does not incorporate cutting-edge technology, which is essential for modern trains. Features like high-speed Wi-Fi, advanced entertainment systems, and environmentally-friendly designs are lacking in the current Vande Bharat Express model.
To truly become future-ready, the Indian railway system needs to prioritize research and development in high-speed train technology, as well as incorporating advanced features that are standard in trains globally. Investing in these technologies will not only improve the experience for passengers but also contribute to India's economic growth.

Converting every rail line to highspeed isn't economically feasible in any county and standard speed rail will always be viable. I disagree. Vande Bharat will be Perfect for India. In next 25 years, if India grows at 6-7% annually, our per capita GDP will be $12000 per Annum, which puts us at Middle Income Country at that time. Say if we upgrade our tracks and Vande Bharat will have newer versions doing 200 Km/h, which isn’t slow. The cost of running these trains would be much lower compared to the European TGV or Japanese Shinkansen. Hence the ticket prices would be much more affordable, half of the prices of a bullet train. Good for a middle income economy. Besides that, India would have access to Bullet trains on the main routes and urban centres, where most of the richer people live anyway. Bullet trains will cater to people who want speed for a price. And then of course we have Flights for longer journeys. Hyperloop already seems to be a failed concept. Japan still hasn’t improved much of their speeds in the last 20 years. I don’t see anyone making much progress in this area. Maglevs are still very limited and are as expensive as flights. The max improvement they will bring is 500 km/h. We can work on that front later. The current upgrades are perfect for our country imo. When we will become developed, then we can think about these things.
@harikrishnanks9366
@harikrishnanks9366 Год назад
construction of bullet train is also very expensive. Our govt. is spending 1.67 lakh crore for 508 km of bullet train corridor. At this cost it will be extremely expensive to upgrade all indian tracks to be capable of high speeds(250km+). India has a total of 50,000km+ operational railway route and around 1.25 lakh kilometers of total track length. It will cost billions or probably trillions to convert them to high speed rail. It is impossible for our economy to achieve this in a short or medium term. China operates the world's largest high speed rail network of 40,000+km of total route length. It cost them 400 billion dollars to construct. But still this has lot issues mainly the large operating costs. The Chinese HSR is now in 900 Billion dollars of debt. Such project will be an economic disaster for India. We also have to keep in mind that all bullet trains run on standard gauges and normal railway is of broad gauge. We either have to upgrade all our tracks to standard gauge which will cost even more money and all our trains that are currently operational must be decommissioned (including VBs) as they are designed to run on broad gauge rail. Any sane person with understand that this will be an extremely stupid idea. Now the other way is to develop a high speed train that is capable of running on broad gauge rail. This will also require significant money and resources not only for the research and development of rolling stock but also for the upgradation of tracks, over head electric wires and their tensioning system. Practically speaking Vande bharat trains will be operational for a long time (without going obsolete) . So does the conventional non EMU trains. Because each train has a role to serve. Correct me if iam wrong.
@LplusRatioLol
@LplusRatioLol Год назад
you are absolutely right. China is definitely regretting sinking a trillion dollars into HSR to Tibet and Other places, which is hardly useful! China isn’t a successful economic model which we should blindly follow. We should adjust according to our needs and preferences, while taking good things from other models from different countries. Many people ignore the understandings and importance of Gauge in a Rail or Metro system. What we get is content like this which is just blind criticism without a feasible solution. In my opinion Bullet trains should be Built In a Golden Quadrilateral Way similar to National Highways were built before this with 4 main centres : Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore-Chennai and Kolkata. We can create a Quadrilateral Route (current Ahmedabad Mumbai train will be a part of Delhi Mumbai stretch) and then also create diagonal routes from Mumbai to Kolkata and From Delhi to Bangalore (cities like Indore, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Bhopal,etc. will be covered under this) North south line can be extended from Amritsar to Thiruvananthapuram and East west Line can be extended till Guwahati

Hear me out, having a lot of VB trains isn't a bad decision. Vande Bharat trains are supposed to run at 200 km/h max because they are conventional non high speed trains. Even in Europe countries, Japan and China, most lines are non high speed conventional lines with maximum speed limits ranging from 160 to 200 km/h. In the US, where only one corridor (Nort East Corridor) is suitable for high speeds (230 km/h), other lines have a max speed limit between 110 km/h to 130 km/h. In China, non HSR ljnes are between 130 - 200 km/h and in Japan, non HSR is capped between 130 km/h (narrow/metre gauge) to 160 km/h (standard gauge). Our trains are already running at the speeds of standard conventional trains around the developed world. Let that sink in. We cannot have HSR Corridors everywhere. They are most suitable for routes that have a high density usage and I don't just mean railway usage (like Mumbai - Ahmedabad - Delhi, Delhi - Kolkata, Mumbai - Bangalore, Mumbai - Hyderabad, Trivandrum - Bangalore, etc.). VB trains will act like complementary services to the HSR corridors as well as connect the country as a whole. (VB will act like how national highways connect with expressways (HSR)). Most of the country cannot have HSR but they can certainly have Vande Bharat trains.

@@keyaowang2202 Bullet trains are going to compete with domestic air travel and to be honest, they can certainly do that very well. So, their price will not be an issue. They will be slightly more expensive than Shatabdis and VBs. A bullet train can stop at 5 to 10 stations in between Mumbai to Ahmedabad and still cover that distance in just 2 and a half hours. Airlines cannot even dream of doing that. Bullet trains are just far more convenient than air travel can ever be, especially for door - to - door travel. @joshuanishanthchristian5217
@@BuddyReiner You don't really need viaducts, but they are ideal in order to ensure obstruction clearance and straighter routes. 0) One of the biggest benefits will also be in tourism where tourists will be more comfortable and economy will benefit from their spending here. 1) We're too much used to using outdated stuff at home and admiring great infra when doing tourism outside. Time we came out of colonised mindset and started expecting better infra at home. 2) As tracks get upgraded over the years we'll see the benefits in speed dept also. Let us enjoy the comforts and smaller benefits in speed right now. Let's not get into parties like, "which came first chicken or egg". We have to start somewhere in upgrading, so let's start with trains. 3) Since it's Made in India we'll also see upgrades in quality to world standards as we can always improve the technology that we created without paying through the nose for every upgrade.

@@noideasforanyhandlesorry990 We became idealistic socialists and remained like that till the early 2000s. While Chinese politicians played smart & ditched economic communism. We were forced by the IMF to liberalise our market while China did that on its own by strategically opening its market to America. I really hate China for many things but man our politicians did a big blunder following socialism too seriously. But then again America itself was quite hostile towards us at that time & our relationship with Europe wasn't so good (because of colonial exploitation which was kinda capitalistic as well). So I guess the reluctance of people & politicians towards free-market capitalism or any kind of capitalism was expected. Welfare Capitalism is the only way India can progress today while slowly & steadily removing the socialist hangover that our population possesses. The socialist hangover of our people is the reason they protest against factories, infrastructure projects & progressive policies like farm bills, labour reforms, land reforms, etc. Like in my state people protested against a factory which would have provided thousands of jobs influenced by some politicians for 10 years. And then that factory went away to another state. Now the same people are protesting against the government to provide them jobs. Isn't it dumb? They themselves wanted to do "Pan leaves farming" and now they demand the government to provide them a job? Our people need to understand it's not the job of the government to provide jobs but to provide infrastructure & policies for people to make jobs for themselves. It is the people's duty to provide jobs to others.

@@surajnag3650 You are right about many things- especially the part of us taking socialism seriously (that hangover is still there) however, I would like to correct some things. Colonialist economy comes under the categories of mercantilism and extraction, not free market capitalism. Mercantilism acted as a transition into free market capitalism for some countries. Plus, its dishonest to say that only European countries engaged in colonialism when many empires before them (and some, after them) have engaged in it. The European powers were more successful at it because of better technology and strategy.

We have chosen to build a dedicated High-Speed train network like Japan and unlike European Countries. For trains running under 160 kmph conventional signaling is used.

In the developed nations have had 200km plus trains for over four decades. Therefore you are right about Vance Bharat not being even average in terms of its speed when compared with the global peers. However, the reason for slow speed in India is out dated tracks rather the design limitation of Vande Bharat. There is need to invest in the rolling stock.

Vande bharat is successful and will be successful due to its cheaper rates compared to bullet train. I highly doubt that people will be willing to pay 3000+ Rs for a 400km journey. For longer journeys bullet will be very less favourable as journey time will also increase compared to airplanes. So VB will be cheaper option for middle and lower middle class people.

Bhai mai Finland mai rehta hu aur yaha max speed 200kmph hai par majority trains 160kmph se zyada nai jaati. Par yaha local train bhi 120kmph jaati hai kyu ki stations dur dur hai aur frequency kam hai (every 5-10 mins). Mumbai jaise sheharon mai nai kar sakte ye. Europe mai har train 300kmph nai chalti. There is still room to grow for 160kmph trains. Better tracks so that trains can achieve their top speed more often will improve the average speed overall. One thing which we badly need is tilted boogies so that turns can be done at higher speeds. Average speeds are much more important than top speed. Even if the train only runs at 120kmph, if it can maintain this speed for longer time, it will significantly reduce the duration. For now, Indian trains run on average below 70-80 kmph. There is not much difference in journey duration compared to a bus. Abhi ke liye Vande Bharat acha hai. Tracks improve karna zyada zaroori hai. In theory Vande Bharat can run at 180kmph but the tracks are really bad and old on most routes.

The Indian government is doing well, and it would be beneficial to increase the number of Vande Bharat trains. This would enhance the passenger experience and contribute to progress. If we don't introduce Vande Bharat trains, it may delay modernization efforts. Adding Vande Bharat trains is within our budget and it is a feasible option. By 2028, with an estimated Indian economy of 6-7 trillion USD, we can invest in more advanced trains, replacing the current express trains with Vande Bharat trains.

Actually this is the agile way of development. If you spend too much time and resources in developing the world class technology you'd most likely not meet the budget and time requirements and by that time the latest technology would be far ahead. Instead they are developing what can be fast adopted by our existing track framework. Once it sets the pace of Indian trains they should upgrade tracks which can handle 300km/hr. Then release newer and better VB trains that can touch 250-300. Something similar happens in Germany, they have ice 1,2,3,4 and ice 3 neo and slow trains still exist on lower priority routes. India can also move VB trains to regional trains and release faster trains on long routes. Like imagine Delhi to Bhopal train running every 2 hours. Small trains at high frequency help a lot since the bridges and infrastructure required can also be built of lesser capacity and faster and cheaper. Combine all these facts the vision of VB trains is amazing and if everything goes well we'll be at a much better place in next 10 years. It's very important to grow at the pace which nation can sustain. Ticket price can be another such factor. Why roll out a technology which can't be afforded. It'll remain unused. See the bullet train already coming as a pilot program. Cities of high economic growth will be connected via those on a completely different track so that this old existing track won't need much upgrade. I feel the vision and execution is really amazing. The word here is agile development and pragmatic thinking.

Your point is very valid. Building world class railway from scratch is very expensive and can be done only by compromising whatever existing facility railway is now providing. Vande Bharat is targeted at the luxury bus passengers. And only a miniscule percentage of railway passengers are using it. The speed provided by it is comparable to the regular Volvo services, using the existing infrastructure In a 700 km radius at the most. The new sleeper Vande Bharat can extend this to 1200 kms Upgradation of track is expensive and can be done only in the routes which are economically viable in a step by step manner. Available bullet train technology uses standard gauge which require replacement of all rail lines existing in India or build new lines like Ahmedabad Bombay bullet train. The alternative is to develop a bullet train technology that is viable on broad gauge in a step by step manner. Even countries like Japan took decades to jump from 80 km trains to the present generation bullet trains. China which already had standard gauge lines is the only exception, where they borrowed heavily to build extensive bullet lines which are highly subsidized and underutilized. Creating massive losses for the Chinese economy. Regarding tilting Talgo trains existing platforms cannot accommodate them and will require a separate platform specially made for its specifications. The only viable solution in India is to progress from 80 to 130 to 180 km then to 260 km and later on to bullet trains on the existing broad gauge lines which can be upgraded progressively looking at the economic viability and requirements of such projects on a case to case basis. One positive aspect of the Vande Bharat project is that it is handled by private sector and we can expect better and faster technology adoption than the bureaucratic Indian railways where nobody is willing to take any risk adopting new technologies

Modern looking or if it will work in the future are not problems. Like our soldiers gear often look loose size little big for them be it helmet or jacket, and how they wear now this is not criticizing our army this is a point how our soldiers should look so they look intimidating and cool. How can we say what we want so I give examples, like now US company working on Abraham X new tank for American military see how futuristic it looks and powerful, west combine looks and power. We only focus on power how it looks our design teams do not work on that and people also say “ahh it doesn’t matter” But it does matter. All AC coaches will lead to a very bad future for our generations to come. I personally agree to most of things you said. And one factor which is a bit of lesser importance that previous one is the pocket of consumer. Today 80% of train coaches are sleeper or sitting. And they provide a lot of revenue to the railways. Railway will lose a huge percentage of people in India, if all coaches and trains are made high speed as US or European standards.

It was a good presentation. However, the title music in the initial part of the video is too loud and irritating. Please reduce the volume to a comfortable level. People are interested in the content rather than the title music.
