“Bobby couldn’t be here today” hit quite a bit. Those two really seemed the closest of any of the band members. These performances break my heart, he sounds like he’s on the verge of tears.
I think too many people are reading into that the wrong way. Joe certainly has musical ability, but he is definitely a guitarist more than he is a singer. He gets along well enough, but his voice tends to waver and break slightly when he sings live, even when he was with Tally Hall.
people were tryna say that his voice was shaky cuz he couldnt hit the notes, but like have they ever seen him live? he has no problems at all with singing. im like 80% sure he was trying not to cry in this song, from the glasses, shaky voice, and he starts the song saying "bobby couldnt be here today" and makes a face
*"Bobby couldn't be here today"* wait hold on a minute. i think i need a moment wait, wait, wait. hold on i need a moment. i need to sit down i think wait wait, old honh on, wait, please im breaking down. hold on, wai
Dude, he sung Spring And A Storm right before this song, why wouldnt he be sad during a song that literally has an altered version of Ruler Of Everything?
@@rainespiano Yeah, it seems to be made in Memoriam, not only of the tragedy, but the larger context around it. I'd check out the official music video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dcu9WmHPdbM.html
He also confirmed on an interview that Hawaii part ii is about 9/11. I always thought that it was about about someone going thru a purgatory that was their life
I always assumed that this song was about Joe looking back on his works and being introspective, hence "we keep it coming back and coming back." I know he's since said the album's about 9/11 tho
@@magicconches. I thought it was about a man falling in love then his love dies. All that being told through introduction to murders Then from then on it's about him going through shock therapy losing his mind and wondering out into the sea probably since dream sweet is kinda all about water and what not.
3:32 his voice cracks omg, i feel very very very bad for him, i wish he comes to my country and he peformaces there, i would scream "U can do it Joe!! "
@@chezmix64 still quite sweet. it honestly feels like he’s using that song as a way to express his current mental state. also, the instrumental is new so an official cover would be interesting
He seems sad because the whole song his voice was cracking and there were 4 microphones behind him. Hell it even started with him saying "Bobby" couldn't be there
@@Alex_Lake_Shire thank god that this was the case; i saw other comments saying that joe set those up himself just to feel less lonely ig and it just made everything so much more melancholy
I mean you can see there were other people supposed to be there no wonder he’s sad. Still he’s got a great voice and I think he did a great job for someone who never plays live and had to do it alone.
you can't really tell a person's emotions just by watching a video unlike what many commenters here would believe. can't say he was really sad or happy performing this but what i do know is i'm sad watching him perform alone
around the 2 minute mark, he sounds so passionate when he says "keep it coming, and coming back, and coming back, why don't we?" makes it sound like he really wants tally hall to come back together
Great performance. I don't think there's any reason to assume he was on the verge of tears, only that he seemed like he had some warming up to do throughout the set. Maybe he was still adjusting to it being a solo show, for whatever reason it was that Rob couldn't make it. But one thing's for sure; he absolutely _nailed_ the second half of this. The "Jump" cover was such a great closer that he performed so well, and it had to have been such a cool surprise to any fans there. If this is the last Tally Hall related live performance, it was a great send-off.
i get up nothing gets me down you got it tough seen the toughest around and i know baby just how you feel you gotta roll with the punches to get to whats real can't you see me standing here i got my back against the record machine im not the worst that youve seen dont you see what i mean hey you, whats that, who said that baby how youve been? you say you dont know you dont know till you begin can't you see me standing here i got my back against the record machine im not the worst that youve seen cant you see what i mean might as well jump go ahead and jump might as well jump jump go ahead and jump might as well jump go ahead and jump might as well jump go ahead and jump
@@meox_ it's a song by Van Halen for some reason??? Was not expecting a random 80's song in the comments of a lonely Tally hall vid never mind i just hadn't watched the end, that was the extra bit he added in center of VOAC.
Imagine there’s a musical that uses tally hall songs. This is the outro and as jump starts it cuts to the credits. The version with the actors fades into this one at sonic lunch. Then it fades to a studio version with the entire band
@@dorothygilley3194I know it's been a year, but that's so awesome! I think Hawaii Part II would be a very compelling piece of theatre! Hope the script is going along well, and if I may ask, would you possibly be willing with sharing or leaving a link to it? I'd absolutely love to read it!
I mean, I don't think it's just because of Tally Hall, but I doubt losing an entire friend group can be easy on someone, especially with a mental state like Joe's.
the thing about this is before i was a huge fan i thought everyone was being dramatic about him sounding like he's on the verge of tears because i mean singing live is hard and his voice is probably just a bit shaky because of that- but his voice never shakes like this during live performances. brb gonna go SOB.
So today I was wearing a jacket and my dirty minded friend said “WOAH LOOK AT YOUR JACKET” it’s said “VOODOO DOUGHNUTS! The magic is in the hole”… I need more non dirty minded friends-
@@idcaboutusernames true but he also hasnt been on camera as much since then, so most of what you see of him online (without looking really deep anyway) has the curly hair and tie
"These days it’s hard to find friends but opportunities bend" is quite the line now after the "where'd my friends go" tweet 😬sad that something happened between him and rob judging by that leaked phone call :/ also joe please release a studio extended version with jump even if its potentially insensitive lmao
