I've been diagnosed with venous insufficiency about 6 years ago and for the past four years I've been dealing with multiple ulcers up and down my legs to my ankles, I attend woundcare every two days for the past 4 years .. I've done vein stripping surgery, and had the injections to shut down bad veins and here I am still trying to figure this out to get them healed and bring my life some what back to be enjoyable with my family again and make memories before I'm gone.. and may I add I'm getting severe infected ulcers and on antibiotics of some sort minimum every two months if not more. I truly feel for anyone else dealing with this... I'm only 46 years old

Great video! You have given me more, and better, information than I've ever gotten from the three "specialists" (Interventional Cardiologists), numerous podiatrists, and internists that I have consulted with about my CVI diagnosis. I started wearing 20-30mmHG knee high compression socks 3 years ago. Prior to that I was wearing 8-15mmHg socks. The 20-30 were really helping my CVI -- less swelling, less blood pooling around my ankles. BUT another issue arose as a side effect of the compression socks: Morton's Neuroma. I developed numbness in my feet and toes. The ortho/foot dr. evaluated me and diagnosed the neuroma. He told me to STOP wearing the compressions. I was scared to do that so I kept wearing them but used a lower grade. Numbness persisted. I put the hose over my hand and it made my hand curve inward -- then I realized the hose were compressing my feet and causing nerve damage. I was shocked! I switched to calf sleeve compressions (footless) and after two months, the numbness has decreased. BUT my CVI symptoms are increasing again -- ankle swelling and blood pooling. What can I do???? What helps one issue causes another serious issue. I'm at a loss. Since calf sleeves seem to be the only kind of compression socks that don't numb my feet and cause nerve damage, will they be enough to prevent progression of my CVI disease? Your thoughts would be so appreciated. Thanks, Dr. Tom.

Great and very helpful info! I have post DVT venous ulcer which has become quite painful lately. I recently had my affected leg measured and I'm waiting for my properly sized compression socks. Uptil now I bought at least 20 pairs of compression socks online. Most of them would crush my calf and be less tight around the ankle instead of having progressively tighter pressure in the downward direction. I'll check out the Orthofeet shoes asap. Thanks Doc!

I had Thrombotic Syndrome, but now had the underlying cause expertly treated in 2018 by a Vascular Professor at his clinic in London. It was the best money I ever spent and never looked back. This fella’s a quack.

@@sl2608 I’m from England. I suffered a DVT aged only 36 through the contraceptive pill. I suffered Post Thrombotic Syndrome and developed venous ulcer 14 years later which our UK NHS just managed for eight years with compression . I eventually referred myself to a specialist vein clinic in London and underwent an Endovenous Duplex Ultrasound Vein Mapping Scan where it transpired that I had an incompetent Great Saphenous Vein and Small Saphenous Vein and also had four incompetent perforators. I travelled back a few weeks late and had Endovenous Laser Ablation Therapy together with Transluminal Occlusion of Perforators (for the damaged perforators) followed after the necessary eight week gap with Ultrasound Guided Foam Sclerotherapy. Look up Professor Mark Whiteley he has been at the forefront of varicose vein surgery in the UK for the last 20 years. He performed the first endovenous surgery for varicose veins in 1999. The first microwave closure of varicose veins in February 2019. The first Sonovein (HIFU - Intensity Focused Ultrasound) treatment in the UK in May 2019. He is founder of the Whiteley Clinic with three across the UK. He also has his own college of phlebology, an international group for doctors, nurses, vascular scientists and technologists to discuss venous issues and find educational support. There is no need for people with venous ulcers to be spending their life in compression bandages for venous incompetence in this day and age. There are now more up to date treatments available and getting better all the time. Please look up The Whiteley Protocol.

Thank you very much for your video. I have been dealing with slow healing and reproducing ulcers for almost a long year. I had a 3mm biopsy taken on a new ulcer in February 2024; resulting in Liveoid Vasculitis by a dermatologist. Three months later another ultrasound performed where I have been diagnosed with venous insufficiency only my ulcers are not only in the medial of my ankles, I have them on my feet and up my shin stopping there. My feet have gone numb and very painful to walk. Same day as ultrasound, I saw another dermatologist who took out a 5mm biopsy on a 2nd stage ulcer; awaiting those results to confirm what it is. As far as wound cleaning and moisturizing is a big help. I have used aquaphor which I feel I worsened my skin because it was too moist. I work for an Orthopedic group that I am sure can help with the wraps you mentioned. My right heel has been numb and bothersome to walk where I was given a boot to help me to walk without limping; only worked for a day and a half probably taking it off and elevating once I got home. Vascular Doctor states I may have something else causing my ulcers growing elsewhere other than the medial of both of my ankles; which is the reason she referred me out to Dermatology and Rheumatology and to Infectious Disease specialist. I have been praying for answers and relief. Anyway, I loved all of your teachings and discussions in why and what to do. Thank you again.

You are freaking incredible!! The amount of information you have listed below is more than I could have dreamed of. I had a terrible leg ulcer with unbearable pain. Dr sent me to lymphedema clinic and they performed their wizardry and in less than 6 weeks my wound was completely healed and my legs were back to normal. But then, insurance wouldn't pay for the wraps and such needed for ongoing maintenance. Here I am 6 months later and I'm completely swollen up again and have a new wound that I can't get to heal. I'm going to try to heal this wound with Dakins solution for debriding, and I'll use the 4 layer compression wraps that I have left over from the clinic. I'm going to give myself 2 weeks and if I don't see drastic change, I'll go back to the lymphedema clinic and let them take over. Your explanation of how everything works on top of the best products and shoes just blows my mind. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I'll be sharing your videos. More people need to find your information. ❤️

I found you looking for info. about chiro=practitioners and getting prescriptions for natural healing therapies, like co enzyme q 10. This is already having me able to take a shower at night after one day of coQ10. This is all helpful, seeing I have a small, quarter inch strange sore on the back of my lower leg just above the ankle. It doesn't seem to go away, and I have a large amount of ugly varricose veins. Reg. Drs. aren't helping when I ask about it, even the specialist in veins. This coQ10 has me up and I'm amazed! I found you had a short about it!

For venous insufficiency that has not reached the ulcer stage, but the skin in the area is bumpy, would taking horse chestnut improve the circulation in that area to possibly prevent an ulcer from occurring? What is a good OTC moisturizer for venous insufficiency? Thank you for posting this video. I've learned a great deal from watching all of your videos and look forward to the new ones.

We appreciate you watching! For moisturizing, most thick creams (better than lotions) are a great option. Vaseline can be good but with thick skin can be occlusive. Thank you for the interesting video. I have at present, a couple of sores that have been there for a week or so. My lower part of the legs, seem to come and go with the reddish sometime tough skin, but I do put cream on them and try to was them with soap and warm water, which seems to loosen the hard stuff and wash it off. I also go out into the protery and do work to keep it up, which seems to also help. I also use what you recommedned from before the Antartic Kriel oil and this also seems to be working, I saw you showing a book, but, I do not see it listed below. How can one get it? Let me know, thank you. William Wargo

So very informative! Really got a lot from this. One question, do Orthofeet shoes have enough support for standing and walking all day at work in a retail environment with hard floors? An ortho doc I saw said the sole was not firm enough. Is that true??? He told me to get a more supportive shoe with a firm sole. He's a sports doc who deals mostly with pro athletes and CVI is not his area of interest, which he made clear. Kind of condescending, I thought. So I trust your opinion more! Thanks.
