Got tears in my years when i heard her singing You can see all the history replaying in her beautiful eyes. Very lovly voice

she can still sing in her old age! even if it is an octave lower.

Man when you look into her eyes when she sang, it sparkled with memories from the past.

A woman as beautiful inside as she still is on the outside, my grandad (bless his soul) and hero met her when he was fighting in the far east, you kept their chins up Vera.

Dame Vera: One in-a-lifetime voice, one-in-lifetime soul, one-in-lifetime heart. What more can I say?

What a sweet lady. It always makes me emotional to see patriotism, no matter what country it is.

She must be 101 y/o this 23 march 2018. She still have that beautiful face and a beautiful voice, and she still can speak well. So lovely Vera.

What a fabulous interview!

Well, this interview had me in tears and i am not even english.

I was 8 years old in 1939 so I remember many things from that horrible war. Vera Lynn stands out like a beacon with her wonderful contribution to the guys who fought in that mess. God Bless.

The old recordings of Vera Lynn (We'll Meet Again; The White Cliffs of Dover, etc. ) and also Marjorie Kingsley (Greetings From You; Sundays, Mondays or Always etc. ), nothing sweeter to a male Veteran that loves his lady & she loves him. Also, My love & respect to all the female Veterans in the Allied Forces.

My father, Donald Hugh Rahilly Canadian Army, Royal Winnipeg Rifles, was one of the liberators. In the mid 1980's, I got tickets for my parents, older brother and myself to see this most extraordinary woman singing in Calgary, Alberta. It was a record Dad bought in the 60's, Hits of the Blitz, that introduced me to Lynn. Her voice allowed people to feel some of the emotion of the dark days of World War and the hope for better days. God bless all who sacrificed themselves so far from their homelands. And God bless Vera Lynn who sang, not only for the fighting men, but for everyone who hoped and prayed for a new era of peace. My father passed away in 2009 at the age of 89. He was our family's hero.

Linda - 'was' you mean 'is'! Dame Vera Lynn is very much with us! She is due to celebrate her 100th birthday next year. She sang to by Grandad in Burma in 1945. My Grandad was awarded the Burma Star, and had all Dame Vera's books etc.Cheers,Julian

What a wonderful lady! Still so beautiful. I was born and raised during WW2. I remember this song being played in my home and everywhere I would go with my mom and dad. Her memories must be wonderful, some sad, and vast and golden.

I can just imagine some poor soldier in the trenches or an airman at altitude in a Lancaster or B17 headed to Germany wondering if he's gonna make it home and Vera Lynn comes on the radio at 3:00 minute mark... bet a lot of them had to hide their faces from their buddies.... Bless them all !!!!

I think she helped the allies defeat the Axis powers in WWII. The "Daily Times' Magazine asked questions to British servicemen at the start of the war who their favorite singer is/was and Vera Lynn came out on top and later became known as "The Forces Sweetheart". She also had her own radio program where she addressed the allies and their relatives.

"England doesn't seem so far away now that you're here." This part really got me. Imagine all those boys so far away from home, fighting for freedom, waking up and going to sleep with one big panic attack, living through a nightmare each day and dreaming nightmares each night, missing their relatives, fearing death...It makes me feel so ridiculously small when I'm, for example, afraid of a stupid spider sitting on a ceiling or when I feel anxious before giving a speech at work or deal with other "problems". We can't be grateful enough for all what they have done for us who live here and now, in a free world. I knew it all already when I was a kid but now, that those brave people have reached the final stage of their lives and start passing away, I realize it even more and there's not a single day passing by that I don't think about them. I'm only 33 but I fully realize that I'm not here and now just like that. The very fact that I'm writing those words in English and not in German, is insane to me. It's all thanks to their sacrifice. The best we can do is to do our best to live meaningful lives, so that their sacrifice doesn't go to waste. They set this world free and our task is to keep it free. Freedom costs dearly. Let's not listen to politicians who sometimes try to instigate all of us, regardless of our nationality, to "go and get what's ours." They want the history to repeat itself for their own profit. We mustn't let it happen again.
