+Aminals Oh, you seem to be discounting the countless homeless families, including children, in Dixon, IL, due to the embezzling of the woman in question.
@@earlarchibaldcampbellofarg2875 I get the point. The embezzlement was confined to a few people. Those people here destroyed thousands of children and families for awards and $$$$.
This is such a cruel day in the American court justice system. To the people saying they got what they deserve is just as cruel. These are teachers, our heros, our greatest contributors to society. Who should be treated as national gems. Instead REPUBLICANS gut every bit of funding towards school and creates no child left behind that is putting a tremendous amount of pressure on these teachers in order to keep their jobs. Yes they shouldn't have cheated. But due to their circumstances can you blame them? This is so painful to watch I cried. To see these beautiful black men and women who dedicsted their lives to teaching our children who ARE NOT A THREAT TO SOCIETY be wisked away to prison for 20 years for trying to survive a system that was set up to fail them is just so wrong. America what have you become? the people of America how did we get to this point where we allow the system to work entirely against us? I just can't believe this happened. When will we as people rise up against the foolishness and wake up. We need to be fully involved in the political system stay on top of what's going on ESPECIALLY BLACK PEOPLE. TURN OFF LIL WAYNE AND NICKI MINAJ AND ATLANTA HOUSE WIVES!!!!! TURN ON THE NEWS GET INVOLVED WITH WHAT'S GOING ON IN POLITICS. YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. Eventually they're gonna start taking us to prison for smiling the wrong way and will sneakily vote it into our system. IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP!!!!
Stro Kyle Stro Klye your so full of it. I lived in Atlanta when this started and there was only two messed up things about all this. Only 50% of the criminals involved went to jail and the kids, they are the true victims. REPUBLICANS did this? HAHAHAHAHAHA ARE YOU F--KING KIDDING ME? I love how dip shits like yourself blame everything on someone else when your to blame, because you put yourself there no one else did. There a lot of teacher out there that get by with less and do a wonderful job without breaking the law. So If you can't do the time, then don't do the crime. Have a nice day.
Stro Kyle they need more moneys for dem programs republicans gave us that racist no child left behind that gives poor kids extra teachers how dare they do this fucking white people they need these teachers to affirmative action these poor kids or how will they pass
How do you convict someone when state officials tell publishing companies to distort the truth? From what we were taught in school, to the legal system as well. Compare older books & resources from 1975 on back to the ones of today. You'll see the difference.
These people, immaterial of how crappy their job is, cheated and thought it was ok. Anyone protecting that or dismissing it missed the point. If my job is crappy, I look for another one and move on - I don't steal, lie, and cheat and then blame it on my job. Get for real here! The judge was highly irritated at the REFUSAL to accept any responsibility for their actions. You should be too, rather than protect them.
Good call judge. This was a rough day for teachers. BUT good teachers would not violate their core principals like these did. This should send a message for responsibility in the education field. It's funny how these attorneys felt that these clients were somehow above getting locked up for a couple days. To all the honest teachers out there keep your heads up and press on we support each and every one of you.
Violation of public trust is a crime. They did the crime. They were convicted. They received zero preferential treatment. This is the way it should work. I do not feel sorry for any of them!
Everyone of these people got exactly what he/she deserves. Whatever motive, pride, money, prestige, it was all sought at the expense of our future, our children. Grade changing parties?? These people were truly pious and felt themselves above the law, above integrity, above their whole community. Had they spent as much time and effort trying to mentor and tutor the kids who lagged behind, they may have earned that pride and piousness. Now, they are a band of pathetic losers. Dessa Curb:God's blessings on you for being the only one to stand up in the face of wrong.
***** I do not fear death for my Jesus, (whatever color He may be), will not forsake me. This is not a race issue, except for the fact that these so called 'teachers' sold out hundreds of children. Red & Yellow, Black or White, they're ALL precious in His sight.
Dessa Curb GOT OFF on a loophole; her attorney, Wallack, threatened “A Mistrial!” He’s the only one to make the threat, so he’s the only one the judge worked with. There are no documents, not even the jury could explain why she was the only one who walked! You never ever heard anything else about her getting off: just swept under the rug. She did more disservice to those kids because they were not capable of speaking for themselves. Curb even CONFESSED to her misdeeds against her students. She changed so many, but four students in particular. She had one student making 800! She had been doing this for years. One Dr. educator at Dobbs stated; “Ms. Curbs students always do very well on the CRCT, but none of them can read!” Why would you cause innocent special needs students to lose their services due to inflating their scores? How else will they get a “true assessment” of where they stand? She’s a disgrace as well for physically abusing them! Lastly, in the documentary “One Child Left Behind,” they confessed to changing students answers in order to keep the schools from closing. Every principal confessed and took accountability for their actions; all except Evans! What’s done in the dark will make its way “to the light!”
Jerome Gusman tell me how they help these kids. How can a child become something with a subpar education? I would say they screwed these kids and got what was coming to them.
It is easy for all of us to say that they were wrong, and they were; however, not all school districts are equal and lack many resources that some other districts may have. Meaning that you can have multiple schools in one city, yet none of them share they same texts books or have access to the same additional resources. This is where standardized test become harder for the students as well as educators. When a student has not been exposed to such level of curriculum, then it is expected for them not to do well. This is a national problem because it is all over the country, not just in Atlanta. I graduated in 1997 in New England and these test were present then, schools with money succeeded, while low budget schools did not perform as well. Now as an adult, I hear about this case and wonder how can our educators all be on the same page when the pages are being flipped before they can reach it. I'm not saying those educators were right, but racketeering is a hard punishment that does not fit the crime.
under what jurisdiction was this trial held, what was the corpus delectai? ASAP! I thought RICO was a federal law for Mobsters. Was this a fair trial, can anyone state the Valid Cause of Action. the judge, prosecutor cops and attorneys all officers of the court, Can anyone explain how this trial is in line with Constitutional Law & American Juris Prudence. Trial De Nueavo
Please every person that has the time to comment here take the time to write to the government office in your area and to the local news. Make noise because this is just one more case setting a precedent that makes it available to charge every teacher in the nation for every test correction if it is judged suspicious. Every parent every student made noise in the right manner they would have a flood they could not hold back. How much do we care? We here in Canada suffer many of the same injustice.
why are they glad, sa d day for children. the 54th President of United States is in elementary school somewhere in us truth integrity commitment must be wrote on paper and thrown in trash in atlanta
I have to say I don't agree with the judge at all. However, the teachers have it hard but they also have it easier now than when I was in school. Its a double edge sword. Teachers can ignore or leave a child behind if him or her is disruptive in class. Teachers years ago would come to your home and chat with your parents. Teachers send tons of homework home with a first grader for the parent to teach their child too. As far as pay, I don't agree with a pay increase until the teachers and administrators take more interest in a child's education. Furthermore, if a teacher had confidence in what they've taught their students, they wouldn't worry with cheating on any scores. That judge seems very personal with his decision. They should've asked for another judge...if that was feasible. Just saying...
Teachers are the mentors, the leaders of our generation. What they teach is what we, as students, learn. Should they have cheated? No. That bieng said, thier sentences were harsh and hardly fair. There are bad people in this world that get away with the worst of crimes with a slap on the wrist. We really need to change the way justice works because this was, put simply, messed up. And im not saying that out of bias. Sure im a student, i believe what they did was wrong, but worth bieng ripped out of your life and shoved in prison for years? Not at all. Horrible.
I'm all for tough sentences, but even I was shocked at the sentences these people received. You would think you were watching the Nuremberg Trials or something.
This is bullshit. They've got to have some appealable issues to take up with the state court of appeals. The worse that should have happened is getting fired of course, and blackballed. That should've been it. Not prison.
Gary Peterson Have you ever realized how insignificant you are in this vast world with no purpose or use for you? How can a pile of shit think it is superior for the simple fact that the circumstances leading to it's current socio-economic status were more favorable than other races. There is only one fact; you will live for a few years in which you will wake up every morning to work, feed, and poop. Feeling the same emotion over and over, while thinking it was a new one. No matter what you do for a living, you are just another soul surviving and waiting, and if you spend it hating, then your hate will come to your death bed and haunt you during your last seconds.
Bad teachers DESTROY their OWN children while smiling at everyone else. Have the natural children of these "people" come forward and defended them as just parents that first excelled them as straight-A students from elementary school to healthy adult career success?
Sometimes the educated are often the most uneducated. The travesty here is the fact that the government places poor educational curriculum in African-American communities which has no value for their lives and certain doesn't help to further their chances of getting into college.....the system is set up for them to become the laborers for minimum wage. Plato once held that education was a matter to be controlled by the state, so it's no surprise that the state and judge was harsh on these suspects. White students and teachers have cheated the system for years, but no one has addressed this issue............because they are still trying to justify that bullsh......"Bell Curve" theory in an attempt to ignore the "Law of Polarity" which says that everything has its polar opposite. The things that children should be learning aren't being taught in African-American schools, but the White kids are being taught the information which helps to expand the mind in their schools.
WOW you know the prosecutor is trying to make a name when he hits teachers with RICO. I've seen ADA's do this with low level gang members (easy RICO case for the resume), but damn never seen one pull RICO on teachers.
¿Me explico?
This example of poor judgement, bad leadership and the abandonment of the most basic principles is shameful, however we will only do more harm if we react to these events rather than make good plans for our future. Our children deserve our best, they deserve a future of their choosing and an education to compliment that freedom for their choices. Let's not react, let's think deliberately about what works and what will work the very best for everyone. Look at the work Geoffrey Canada has done in the freedom schools. We can make schools good for our children if we choose to do so.
So glad they went right then... Hahaha. Thieves.. ruined how many kids? Maybe you will meet a few in the jail and will be faced with the outcome of your theft... Stolen chances from those kids
I commend this Judge for treating them just like any other criminal! Maybe they can start classes in prison to teach other inmates! That would be a great thing to do and make up for what they did to these children. Shame on them! I hope it takes them a few days to bond out before sentencing. If it were me I would be very worried about what this Judge was going to sentence me to. Because the way he spoke he is just SICK over what they did. Give them the MAX Judge!
