When I backed up the head chef at a very popular pub here in Philadelphia, I used a small electric griddle for hours every day. Everything could be made on it that didn't require a direct flame broil. That little griddle saw so much action the restaurant bought another and we made a new station beside the prep board to do meats separately the vegan customers we had. Awesome product!

How is the Vevor holding up? Does the grease and oil stay relatively within the surface when you have it on your counter? @@TheFoodExperience

@@upload638 It is holding up very well. As long as you have it on a level surface it is perfectly an even playing field. But personally like this surface much better than the surface on the Blackstone adventure ready 22 that I have.

What an outstanding video, I learned so much - always wanted a flattop at home. My kids love grilled cheese sandwiches, bacon/eggs, burgers, etc. And we love all the Korean fast food videos from around RU-vid (many use a flattop). Motivated me to get one, it's a way of cooking I can feel confident about! 👍 Thank you!

Thank you so much for this outstanding review! I had considered getting a 3000W griddle for my son for Christmas (he loves cooking Japanese food), but those require a special plug/outlet, as well as special wiring in the house. When I noticed this one as an alternative (albeit, with a 22" wide surface, instead of 30"), I wasn't sure if 1600W would be powerful enough (and, I had my reservations about the 22" width). Your video put both of those fears to rest, and you really did a great job of describing its features, pros, and cons. I'm really excited about getting this griddle for my son. Thanks, again!!!!!

@@shanebroyles3150 hey Shane, thank you so much for checking out my video and for your comment. This device has not tripped my breaker and I have cooked on it at least 15 times now. Regarding the dual zone version, I think you need a 30 amp circuit to be able to run it. I think that one also does not come with a plug. It should be wired directly to the breaker box from what I understand. I would much rather have the dual zone version but since I live in an apartment I know it's not a viable option.

@TheFoodExperience Год назад
Congrats! Thank you for finding the way to my videos. I love cooking on this device. Olive oil is not recommended. It is not capable of the higher heats that are needed to cook a lot of things on the griddle. What's recommended is a neutral flavor oil. Oils such as avocado, sunflower, safflower, peanut, canola, vegetable and those types of oils should be used. It's also very very important that you season the griddle as I showed in this video. Do not use olive oil for that.
@TinyTinkles
@TinyTinkles Год назад
@TheFoodExperience ooooo! Thank you soooooooo much, I'm so glad I asked! Hubby wanted me to season it last night and I couldn't find anything saying olive oil was OK, so I said... @TheFoodExperience
@TheFoodExperience Год назад
@@TinyTinkles avocado oil is definitely a good choice. It is very important when you season the surface that you use a very light layer of oil and make sure the heat is turned way up to at least 400°. If not hotter. An infrared heat gun is definitely a helpful tool. You want to make sure that the first layer starts smoking and burns all the way off before applying the second coat of oil. I would do that at least three times. I hope your burgers come out amazing!

@TinyTinkles Год назад

@TheFoodExperience
@TheFoodExperience 8 месяцев назад
Thank you very much. I think they are calling the 22 a 21 now. First thing you have to consider in regards to the 29 is the electricity. The 29 uses 3000 watts and requires it to be directly wired to your breaker. The 14 and the 21 can be plugged into a standard 120 volt outlet. I thoroughly enjoy both the 14 and the 21 although the 21 is a much better size. I do notice the 14 heats up faster to higher temperatures. Although both of them easily reach temperatures over 550°.

I don't get a lot of smoke while cooking but then again it depends what you are cooking combined with the temperature. Different foods have different smoke points. I do not have a cover for my grill. Just before I use it each time I always spread of very thin layer open neutral high heat oil. And I use my bench scraper to scrape the surface. Just make sure not to use olive oil since it has a lower smoke point.

Did I just hear you talk smack about the Blackstone? 😲😠 Lol. J/k! That Vevor seems like it's pretty nice and a bit more "industrial" than the Blackstone. I ended up getting rid of my 22" Blackstone because the recovery time was just so bad, much worse than the 17" in my opinion. I do still like my 17" though and haven't had the sticking issues others have had with it, at least not yet. I recently bought a propane Blackstone but my time is so limited these days I haven't even seasoned it yet but hopefully can get to it soon. I'm finally getting to some of your videos since again, I don't have a lot of time post-divorce to watch or make them. Great video!

I definitely like this a lot more than the Blackstone. It definitely keeps the temperature a lot better since it is a cast iron surface. So much easier to work with and easier to clean. That's unfortunate regarding the 22-in Blackstone. I bet the propane Blackstone is nice. Hopefully you'll get to season it soon. I really wish I could have one of those but the apartment rules that I'm living in forbids it. Thank you so much for tuning in. I greatly appreciate your support. I see the new version has both Fahrenheit and Celsius markings for the temperature indication. What they did in put the Fahrenheit markings on the black sticker that goes around the thermostat dial.
@TheFoodExperience
@TheFoodExperience 9 месяцев назад
Yeah I think I saw something like that. I'm not sure about the markings. All I do know is if I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit whatever I set it to is kind of a roundabout number. I wouldn't take the numbers for what they are. I know where to set it for what I'm cooking and I have a temperature probe to ensure I'm at the right temperature. The temperature control works okay but you may have to adjust it during cooking if you want to add a little extra from temperature drop when the food hits. It's not a lot and it does recover quickly.

Awesome review thanks!! I have a question, one complaint I read on Amazon is that there’s a tiny gap where the cooking surface meets the drip hole where drippings fall in and can’t be cleaned. The reviewer said it was “an annoying design flaw” and therefore gave the griddle a 1/5 stars. Is this warranted??

If you could watch that and make reference or at least look at the cleaning process, maybe it'll be more evident to you and to me. I thoroughly enjoy using this griddle. For me. It's a 5 out of five. You would not want to use vinegar on this. Barkeepers friend also a bad idea. Those would be great if it was a stainless steel surface like the ones used in most restaurants however the material of this griddle is iron and it should be seasoned and treated like a cast iron surface. If you use anything like that it will remove all the built up seasoning which is necessary for an iron surface to be non-stick.

You can use it to cook for four if you orchestrate everything properly. It might be a little tight though. It definitely will work on a 20 amp breaker. If you share any other devices on the same circuit you need to take in account for how many amps each device uses.

Really depends what you're cooking and what temperature you have it at. The device itself doesn't make any smoke. However if you're cooking something like bacon at 400°. Ok maybe water and and soap on first cleaning but never again just so the people know, i am a cook worked in a few resturants only thing you clean a flat top with is veg oil, grill screen and towel it off dry then clean fresh towel put a thin layer of oil back on it all while it's hot "just turned off cooling down" things like soap or the lemon/lime juice trick to clean these tops basically resets your seasoning of the top and now you will have to start over. Correct, water and soap only the first time and that is because these griddles come with a manufacturing oil that is not really considered consumable.
