BLACKSTONE E-SERIES 17" ELECTRIC TABLETOP GRIDDLE WITH HOOD - FULL REVIEW

This has been one of my favorite videos to do! I've wanted one of the Blackstone outdoor griddles for a long time but with limited outdoor space it really just wasn't something I had a place for. Fast forward to 2021 and Blackstone now offers the same quality in their outdoor series griddles, indoors! Anyone familiar with electric versions of outdoor cooking appliances such as propane know that sometimes they don't live up to expectations. While I have never used a traditional Blackstone outdoor griddle, I was pleasantly surprised with just how well their E-SERIES 17" ELECTRIC TABLETOP GRIDDLE WITH HOOD performed. As of filming this video, the griddle is only available at Walmart and was it very difficult to locate one in stock but hopefully they will become more widely available soon.

*Works great. We have used it as a grill **MyBest.Kitchen** and a griddle Grease catcher could stand some improvement as some liquid usually gets on the counter top. Grills/griddles are easy to remove and insert.*

As far as smash burgers getting smashed, use parchment paper on top,of the burger ball of meat and then you can use the metal smasher without fear of scratching the surface.

I like the Blackstone electric griddle. I have a stainless steel Little Griddle by Sizzle-Q that I use with my Weber grill. I like that it can be positioned over the burners so that different heat zones can be used and with the ultra-high heat of the grill steaks can be seared to perfection. But having a large indoor griddle like the Blackstone in the Winter is a plus! Blackstone also has egg rings to stop them from spreading too wide on the griddle.
@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 2 года назад
Interesting that you mentioned the Sizzle-Q. I bought one some years back and although I have never put it on the grill, I used it on my stove. Even though it was completely not designed for that, it actually works pretty good. I did end up getting the egg rings and have used them quite a bit since I try to cook everything I can on the Blackstone.

SMASHING THE BURGERS….. Your could always use a small piece of like parchment paper, & lay your spatula on top & press down with a seasoning bottle.. other than I always just use what I already got out on everything I cook on!! There are going to be a little splattering but I've never found it excessive and it just takes a minute to wipe up. But you do make an interesting point and I could see the benefit of dual controls in this model.

@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 2 года назад
Having had both the 22" and the 17", I prefer the 17". It is a little less cooking surface but the recovery time is better than on the 22" and it has less hotspots. Someone had commented that they tend to use 400° for most things and I've found that it was pretty solid advice. There's a small learning curve for the temps but I now usually start the griddle at around 450° or maybe a little higher depending on what I'm cooking so that it doesn't cool down too much from the food. Then I adjust the temps to 400° or whatever I want after it's recovered.

For me it was the larger cooking surface than what a frying pan has and the ability to better control the cooking temps. I won't discount the fact that I think it's pretty cool too lol. When I bought mine, I knew I would like it but I didn't know that I would love it and would end up using it way more than I initially thought. I used to use those cheapy $20 griddles but the non-stick coating would always end up wearing or coming off after just a little use and I got tired of replacing them so often. For me, this griddle has been not only my favorite kitchen appliance but well worth the inveatment.

I've been having a hard time trying to find out if this is weather rated. Do you know if it's okay to leave this outside on the porch to get rained on; or do you have to bring it indoors every time you use it?
@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 3 года назад
Although I haven't seen anything regarding outdoor use, I think because it's labeled as an indoor griddle it shouldn't be left outdoors. Rain and moisture would surely seep into it around the temp adjustment knob and would likely get into the digital display. I don't know whats inside the unit under the plate below the heating element but I'm sure there are some electronics and circuit boards there that could get damaged.
@metaspherz
@metaspherz 2 года назад
@@AllAmericanMack I believe that you are absolutely correct. Rain, or any kind of moisture, will damage the griddle's sensitive electronics or at least set it up to electrocute somebody.

they totally should've went with a cast iron griddle, even a thin one, I would not mind waiting an extra few minutes for it to heat up

I still really like this griddle a lot, even after 3 years and haven't had any issues with it including the food sticking issues some others have reported. With that said, I know full well that the ceramic coating only has a certain lifespan so I'll keep using it until it becomes problematic. I agree with you that I would have liked to at least see a cast iron option and maybe we'll see one eventually. I'm probably going to get a Vevor or one of the other similar griddles next and a big plus is being able to use metal utensils.

Very disappointed in the hood design. When moisture condenses on the inside of the hood it pours out the back of the griddle onto the power cord and table top when you lift the lid. Very dangerous and messy. Should have been designed for the condensation to drain into the drip tray. But it cooks like a champ.
@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 2 года назад
You're right, maybe some type of intergrated channel that emptied into the drip pan would be better. My surface isn't level so I haven't got the condensation on the power cord but I get it all on the lower side and just place a rag there to absorb it.

These new griddles are getting some attention because Blackstone finally made an electric version for indoors. I looked at the 30" with the griddle kit at Lowes a week ago and as much as I would love to have the gas version, I don't have anywhere to put it.

I wish they came in carbon steel, cast iron, or stainless steel 😞 if they did I get one. I don't buy any non stick of any kind the coating doesn't last and easily scratched then no more non stick. People that buy black stone rather seasoning their flat grills and have a grill that will last.

Unfortunately you can't cook from frozen with the Blackstone. I've said it before and it's still true that this Blackstone is my *favorite* cooking appliance *BUT* check out the video below of the Ninja Foodi Grill if you're looking for more of an outdoor grilled taste. I haven't found anything that gives the outdoor grilled taste more than the Ninja. Btw, there are several different versions of this grill but they all have the same grill function so any of them will work, some just have other additional features. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZqxcJ6X2xvM.html

The E-Series sucks. We thought this would be a good idea for the camper and it was not. Trying to cook hashbrowns took absolutely forever. Eggs and bacon did ok. Temp had to be placed on 500 for any decent cooking and it had cool spots on the surface. Burgers sucked. Pulls lots of power. Also when opening the hood all the condensation drips on to the table creating a mess. We went ahead and returned it after 1 weekend of use and purchased a regular steel blackstone griddle. Luckily our camper has a supplied grille propane line so we will use that. Definitely a way better choice.

Better off cooking on a charcoal grill can’t go wrong with a classic BBQ those grills with propane or electric doesn’t add any flavor it’s just like frying pan steak
