John Fogerty was and will always be CCR!!!!! Loved their songs back in the day, ( I’m 68 yrs) and still love his music, songs and what he has to endure to get his music back!
Went to see John Fogerty at the O2 last Autumn and he was AMAZING. The energy the guy has is extraordinary... he was running around the stage like a 20 year old, he clearly looks after himself! He put on a terrific show, with one of his sons playing phenomenal guitar throughout.. another of his boys did a song, so very nice to see a Fogerty Family Show!
Fogerty had every right to those songs! He got so screwed it's a shame. But what is really a shame is that they ever split up. Always my favorite group
CCR will always be among my favorite of favorite bands, and there are LOTS. I still remember how enraptured my father was by CCR, and he was almost middle-aged when they broke onto the scene! He was the one who got me to appreciate Fogerty's sound. Nowadays I'm a singer/guitarist, and my audiences never fail to get excited when I do a CCR song.
Yup', he was the man with the plan' and probably my one and ultimate hero', John Fogerty, because it was his voice and his guitar that I first heard and constantly jammed to when I was only 2 years old, I sat on the couch and constantly rocked back and forth in time to every beat of every song on all the records my mom played of CCR, anything else she played I gradually lost interest in and ran off and played with my toys etc..
John Fogerty, you're a legendary rock n' roller that always locked in my heart & soul by CCR & your well-known band that you found decades before my birth(2003). Creedence rules the 60s.
I was 10 years old when I moved from Baton Rouge to Illinois. Parents got divorced and family got split. Feeling lonely and out of place, I was looking out the window that first winter and seeing snow blanketing everything - the houses, the mail boxes, the fences, everything. There was no sound. I had never heard or seen silence let alone snow. Where in the hell was I? In Louisiana at night there is a orchestra of sounds from the bugs and stuff. I thought I was on another planet. Then I turned on my little clock radio and CCR came on. In my little tighty whities, as a chubby little boy, I laid down on the floor and put the radio to my ear and cupped my other ear and closed my eyes and floated away. Fogerty took me to another place - my home. Today, I'm am a guitarist and I do the baddest CCR rhythm of anyone I know.

I wax able to catch John in Omaha at a great venue of perfect size. Front row. I think it was touring for Blue Moon Swamp. He talked of his stacked Marshal amp used at Woodstock. Love his music. Damn the music industry creeps that screw over the talented musicians. That first drawn out note to Born on the Bayou is unmistakeable.
what people don't understand is that in order to do the great things John did as leader of CCR and then after as a solo artist , you have to have some what of an "Ego". All great men thru out history have egos and to say anything negative about John's position on his fall-out with his other bandmates is not fair. I think John is a musical genius and deserves all the credit he gets for all that he has created and the other members let jealousy & envy destroy the great situation thay had within CCR and tried to destroy "The goose who layed the golden eggs" really disgusting, I especially am horrified by Stu Cooks behavior.Now they masquerade as a new version of CCR, meanwhile they are nothing more than a cover-band, still making money off John's talent, sweat and hard work..a real crime & a pity..

This doco was on the TV in 1998. John had put his legal issues behind him, by then. It was also the year he released a new album. l think it was called 'Blue Moon'. He won a Grammy for it the same year,
CCR is pure Rock And Roll. The question that often comes to anyone that calls himself a rocker is: what do you like most? Beatles (which are not a rock band, YUCK) or Rolling Stones? I always proudly claim: Creedence Clearwater Revival!!
John should have highered some session musicians , then there wouldn't be this mess of jealousy from bandmates who were jealous of his talents. He should have total ownership to his music. And those producer,well, you know where they should go !
Saw CCR as a three piece band in 1972? in Auckland New Zealand. First big concert I'd ever been to. Unbelieveable how much sound they put out. I remember I was right in front of Stu Cook playing bass. From then on I saw every band who came to town in the 70's and some later. I counted about 80 of them. The Stones, Led Zep, Fleetwood Mac (twice), Alice Cooper, Slade, Boz Scaggs, David Bowie, Neil Young, John Denver, Santana, Elton John, Lou Reed (3 times) - so many more... and three I really kick myself for not attending - Queen, ELO and Pink Floyd!

Let It Be, however, sold close to four million copies immediately upon release. Creedence did outsell the Beatles in 1970, but they released two albums that year.

James P I’d say “ gimme shelter” by the stones is a better suggestion as “paint it black” hasn’t really anything to do with the Vietnam war except it being played at the end of full metal jacket.
Loved Creedence for years. Never knew the trouble behind the scenes. Greats songs, badfeeling doesn't come through in the music. His guitar sound matched his voice. Loved the drumming, bass and rythm of whole band. Who is the leader of the band? Answer that question early in your band's line up lads. I like 'all for one', being a setimental bloke, the bastards in this world want that in a contract and. manager and all that.

The Silvertone electric shown was actually a Danelectro. I don't know if the photo is legit to John, but the one shown is definitely the Danelectro with the single lipstick pickup. I had one. They still bring a good price yet today. Oddly, they were made to be a cheap guitar, made as cheaply as possible, but they had a sound and feel all their own. Almost all famous electric guitar players have one, or had one somewhere in their background. Even the 2005 Korean made reproductions bring a good price, they're unique... the fretboard is flat. or nearly so, it works great for some of us, especially when using a slide bar
About fourty years ago i got the Lp when they were "The Golliwogs"... At now i remember even all those their beat songs (i'm a composer by Rome, for folk old poetical renaissance in beat european style, but even author of three country folk songs, for what american people could hate me, sure).
I have listened to them. And I have listened a lot of rock bands. ALL OF THE CONTEMPORARY rock bands made a huge effort to differentiate from the beatles (if you know the history of CCR you will know I'm right); later bands also did. Excepting Oasis (again, just brit pop, not rock), mention 1 rock band that actually followed what the beatles left. On the other hand, if you look to the rock as a continuation of blues you will find TONS of bands in that line.
Yeah, and John Fogerty was and is a huge Beatles fan. Anybody who likes CCR but has something against the Beatles doesn't know jack. They were an inspiration to so many other great bands in that era and far beyond.

Ok, great reply. Nobody can't stand that somebody criticizes the beatles. And using insults reinforces my theory that anyone can explain exactly why they were "so great". Great voices? No. Great instrument interpretation? No. Great lyrics? No. Big marketing success? Yes. Besides, upon my line of thinking, I consider that I am a mediocre stupid, so they were good mediocres. And last but not least, what I claim is that the Beatles were not a rock band. British pop is what it fits them better.

As a true Elvis fan i can tell u that he was inspired by the black gospel music played in church and from the old black folks singing the blues on front porches near the place he lived, of course he had to take something from the ones who came before, the music was there for everyone, but who ever had the biggest influence on Elvis the thing he brought to the table was new and never seen before and everyone wanted to be like Elvis not C.Berry or L.richard.. that was my point.

History repeated when Tom sold out Johns creations to Fantasy Records along with Stu. They both fooled John into that deal. You can't define something in pop music as 'better', what criteria are you using? The Beatles wrote a bunch of songs that millions of people liked, that's all that matters. Personally I prefer The Small Faces out of all those British groups from the sixties but one billion record sales means the Beatles must have been doing something right...
