I've always worn trail shoes for my favorite gravel road race, the Booneville Backroads Ultra. Will this be the year to try V-Runs? #boonevillebackroadsultra #vibramfivefingers #ultrarunning
As you said yourself: you can run gravelroads on V-Runs but you have to be cautious for the larger stones. It hurts if you step on to them (like everythingfrom the size of a marble).
I still don‘t get it. You tell us that you did a couple of 100K and one (!) 100 miler. But your toes got numb only once at the 100 miler. You don‘t know if the gravel was the issue. It might be the asphalt/ tar. You even tell us, that your toes were numb for some months… Apparently no issues with the 100Ks… Is this correct? I just started ultras… 50K in the alpes was the first…. I used the KSO-Evo. No issue. The feet soles were white and I enjoyed walking barefeet near the finishing area. I signed for the 80K in April 2022 and I want to go for the 100K a.s.a.p. I mainly run with the V-Run, most comfy ones incl. gravel routes. I don‘t think I will use my V-treks for the 80K…
I've done a bunch of ultras including four 100 milers. The 100 milers did lead to some numbness in my toes, mostly because they're on gravel, I think. No issues on anything shorter than that.
