These are the best plays from Victor Wembanyama's rookie season but as the video goes on they get increasingly more amazing! Clips are licensed through NBA playmakers Business Inquiries: mcosh3@gmail.com
@@Scorpion54092 That's crazy because endless times have we seen amazing prospects fold the moment they step in the league. Wemby probably had people shocked he was actually worth the hype
Месяц назад
Wait till Zach ebay should his skinny ass how we really play ball here ❤
There it is: the most original thing I've ever read on the internet. Literally never once seen someone make this joke. Never been done before. Absolutely genius levels of creativity here. Should be pinned to the homepage of RU-vid
Wemby is blocking 50% more shots per game than any other player in the NBA. He's eighth in the league in rebounds per game. He's fourteenth in the league in steals per game. He leads all rookies in those categories, and is also scoring four PPG more than any other rookie. He's committing too many turnovers and still needs a little time to find his shot, but to do all of that as a 20-year-old on one of the worst teams in the NBA in under 30 MPG... I mean, it's unbelievable. He is as exceptional as advertised, and that was an incredible amount of hype to live up to.
The thing is, he’s even starting to fix some of those caveats this season. In the previous 40 games, his fg% and 3pt % are 48% and 35% respectively, both very solid numbers. His season percentages are obviously lower because he wasn’t as good at the beginning, but he’s already figuring it out
@@slimemonster0381 To be honest, his 3P% is quite low as he is taking really hard shots... as should a Leader when the team needs it. Also, his teammates are good at setting him up for failure, like they will send "halleluiah" type of passes (you know, close your eyes and pray maybe a miracle will happen) and he will catch most of them in really bad spots and turn them over...
Dude it's like these dudes lost their "height ego". Wembanyama is literally out there ripping souls. Some don't even think about being in the "zip code" of a Wembanyama highlight... they immediately run from the basket.
Dawg this shit is crazy. Y’all gotta remember he’s been on a minute restriction for most, if not all of the season too😭. Imagine if he wasn’t on a minute restriction
He's averaging 0.72 points per minute, which rank him 15th in the NBA. If he were playing 36 minutes and had the same level of production, he would be averaging a "good but not legendary 25ppg." I'm honestly surprised that he isn't averaging 30ppg even on restricted minutes. He scores with such ease that they ought to be drawing up even more plays for him, especially alley-oops.
his standing reach is 10ft which means he can touch the rim without lifting his feet. His vertical is 32 in which mean he can literally touch the top of the nba backboard. Crazy
That is similar to Manute Bol, as Bol was 3 inches taller and his standing reach is 6 inches higher. Similar to Tacko Fall standing reach (10 feet 2.5 inches) I seriously doubt either of those 2 have a 32 inch vertical though.
His dunks are like from 4 feet away from the rim - at like 11 plus feet up. Most guys are still jumping up to the rim, he jumps and reaches over. The mechanics are off the charts.
Those blocks where he just catches the ball are insane. Especially the one at 4:16 where he caught the ball with one hand while barely getting his toes off the ground. Looked like me playing vs. 8 year olds.
bro i was playing a 12 year old on mini hoops and lil guy tried to dunk on me and i blocked him so hard he fell to the ground and i just stood there saying wtf was you thinking 😭😭
when he throws it across the court like a baseball, that rejection at 5min, when he's practically flying thru the air like its space jam.... dude is superhuman
The fact that Wemby is bascially second on the Spurs in assists is a goddamn crime, I think I could be averaging at least 8 assists a game if I played with this alien, how could you not?
@@ahancho nah I think they just want a better chance at getting one of the two French players in the upcoming draft that are gonna be top five picks lmao
I do think both ARE True. A perfect plan for the future would be to use this season to get another top pick while he's getting used to the NBA without injury. The future seems bright for the spurs
Ngl I was skeptical of this kid at first.. but watching him you realize THERE IS NO ONE WHO CAN STOP HIM. sky is the limit for you young man, LITERALLY!
DPOY may not go to him because his team isnt good enough defensively (which is a hella dumb reason), but no one can deny he is the best defender in the world.
@@wetfire008bro if they are judging “defensive player of the year” by how the team plays they might as well name “defensive player of the year” to “defensive team of the year” smh.
it truly was. considering that Wembanyama got turned around and that Jabari is also damn near 7’0 himself, it’s literally only him who’s blocking him twice back to back.
@@explosivehotdogs The ones he talked about aren't dad blocks though. Dad Blocks are the easy ones where he does not have to do much and makes it look easy. Like a dad blocking his kids in front of a kid's hoop indeed. The 2 Blocks on Jabari weren't "dad blocks" but "out of this world" blocks!
People who don't know basketball think that it's just a matter of height. But Height doesn't mean anything if you're not smart enough to use it the best way. Porzingis is a very good player. He's 2 cm shorter that Wemby but doesn't play the same. Let alone Marjanovic, Tako Fall, Ball Ball ... Wemby is a menace everywhere he is on the court. You box him, okay, he can pass the ball. You play Iso on him, he can cook his defender and fly to the rim. You make your big man wait for him under the rim, he can make a 3 ... Give this young fella his flowers and just enjoy what he's been achieving in the league so far.
Yup, been saying this too. I think Boban is half an inch shorter and averages like half a block. Shawn Bradley was 7'6" and averaged like 2.5. You still need to go out there and do it, it's not automatic.
Really feels like once he gets used to (and more accurate with) the 3 point, literally no one would be able to defend him taking a 3, just because of the height difference, since all his 3's already look open as can be.
Good compilation! But you're missing the ultimate one (before his NBA draft): Double between-the-legs crossover, Step-Back 3, gets his own rebound mid-air with one hand and dunks it before touching the ground. Alien.
He's literally the most complete player the NBA has ever seen, this guy can play everywhere and it's not even funny anymore. If he stays health, goat debate will change the coming years.
@@winonafrog that's hilarious. "So with that being said, Gregg, we're offering you the position of senior manager! Oh Mama Wembanyama to you, good sir, and welcome to the team!"
Greatest rookie of all time and its not EVEN CLOSE. Genuinely insane. ROY and DPOY in his rookie year (genuine rookie year as well). Already in the top 10 MVP in the league imo. Next year most likely number 1 in MVP. Why? Nobody is as VALUABLE as Wemby. His impact on a team is INSANE, both on the defensive and offensive end. We might be looking at the future GOAT here. And by that I mean an indisputable GOAT. He's got the right mentality: humble, down to earth, respectful, unlike many of these new american players. No, don't talk about the "future" or his "future potential". The "future" is now. What we are witnessing is historic. Hopefully everything works out, especially those things he cant control (unlucky injuries, bad team management/front office etc.).
No way was his rookie year better than Kareems, Shaqs, Wilts, Jordan's, Duncan's, Robinson's, Hakeems and Magics. Those guys actually led their teams to wins and playoff bets.
This guy is the Ultimate Basketball Player. Size. Skill. Speed. IQ. Feel. Heart. Coachability. Attitude. Offense. Defense. Charisma. Shines in the biggest moments vs the biggest competition. He's a goddamn supernova. And he's 20 years old.
@@alsoknownas875 Y'all just say whatever. If this society exists in 50 years we'll def see a 7'8 player with a bigger frame and just as skillful with better shooting than Wemby. We still haven't seen an athlete close to Wilt after all these years.
I think this might be the craziest highlight reel I’ve ever seen. The range of what this guy can do is insane. I hate it. Damn you spurs!!!!! Damn you!!!
To the people saying "yeah, he just got lucky to have the genetics to be 7ft3/4/5... and all he has to do is put the ball in the basket" : Wemby has been training ball since he was a kid in France in Nanterre well before the current hype. If you type " 7'3 16-year old Victor Wembanyama vs. 7'1 Rudy Gobert " on YT you will see what I mean. Gobert is a friend of Wemby nowadays, but this clip was recorded when Wemby was 16 (!), and Gobert was an internationally known player, let that sink in. This man Wemby was not only blessed by incredible genetics, he also put in the work to develop his hand/eye coordination, dribbling, shooting skills, etc in order to be ready for the NBA and it clearly paid off. We are lucky to witness a generational talent, I just sincerely hope that he doesn't get badly injured.
👽 Nuff said. He will be the greatest two-way player to ever play the game. He will win the next 5 DPOY awards after this season and a MVP within the same timeframe.
GOATED ! Wemby will be in the GOAT conversation in 20 years, and for many more years after that. I really hope he stays healthy, it's the only thing that can't stop him. Vive la baguette !
NGL that block against Giannis is his best play as a pro. Giannis got him right before that by playing bully ball and Wemby was wasn’t gonna let it happen again. Love that competitive energy.
Barring injury, he’s going to 100% be one of the greatest centers to ever play. Like in a couple years once he really starts dialing in on the mental side of the game, and once SA puts an actual NBA team around him, good freaking luck man.
I don’t think so, it looks like he dribbles the ball twice then takes kind of a short hop and grabs the ball with two hands while in the air. From what I saw he then took two steps and dunked the ball. I think it’s clean but idk
I was so worried for this kid's legs considering how tall he is, but after seeing some of this throughout the season, it looks like he's got a good shot after all. Just have to make sure to take care of him so hopefully he'll have a long career and rise up the ranks of all time blockers.
Victor the greatest basketball player ever. No one has ever done what he has done. This game play, and his numbers make him a contender for ROTY, DPOY, AND MVP!” You’ve never seen anyone like this. Total package and dominates everyone
It's not just the fact that he's the biggest player on the court, he's often times the most skilled player on the floor too. Fucking insane how good he is as a 19-20 year old rookie.
He will be the goat 🐐 if healthy. The sheer amount of skills he possesses at that age and body type is unbelievable. And he seems to be a nice humble dude as well.
pretty incredible video, the commentary editing makes everything, that's the difference between a 100k views video and one with millions in the making, great job
I definitely thought he was overhyped coming into the league but every time ive tuned into a game he makes atleast 5 jaw dropping plays in the first 5 mins
