@KAT STERLING YUP! All the crew battles out in NYC and out on LI decades ago! It was such an awesome time! I and Brooklyn Born but Long Island raised. So many of my friends back when we were teenagers got into break dancing and joined crews to do this. I hope you're sitting now because you probably sure that you can relate. They used to bring pieces of cardboard folded up in their jackets around with them...are you ready? TO THE ROLLER RINK ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS! REMEMBER how it was to actually have a roller rink to hang out with? 😏❤️😃 I would put an emoji for roller skates but they actually ONLY have one for freaking ICE SKATES... dammit! 5 billion people learned how to roller skate long before they ever learned how to ice skate. Every kid learned how to do it, and could do it well... It wasn't a seasonal thing and nobody needed lessons. C'mon man... They should give us a roller skate emoji! It just shows how old school we are I guess and that they can't conceive of this notion! There is an ice skating shoe and a skateboard when I put in roller skates as a description... YUP! Sad... freaking sad. Anyway... Remember how people used to walk around with folded up cardboard because the sidewalks was kind of nasty and you never know what kind of gum you'd be breakdancing on. It was a lot of fun back then watching my friends compete when they came out of the roller rink at night. There was only a few of them on Long Island, so people came from all over and a lot of people also came out from NYC. That's pretty much how the sidewalks and the parking lot turned into or big competition areas. When it was too many cars parked in that lot, we would just move over to the movie theater. YOU KNOW... Whether used to have the midnight movies at! Led Zeppelin... The song remains the same, Pink Floyd The Wall AND of course Rocky Horror Picture Show with the full floor show! Great times and I miss them. So many things we pulled off that I think about NOW, looking back as an adult. I swear to you~I DON'T KNOW HOW we either didn't get killed or arrested for and somehow made it through it all. THINK about it seriously. What cop now will take a drunk driver's keys and lock them in the trunk and just make them walk home? But then again we didn't exactly have cell phones to call our friends to get another set from our houses! AND NO WAY IN HELL were we gonna call our friends to go sneak in a house at 3:00 & possibly wake up our parents cuz we were LOADED, LATE AND ROADSIDE! Being caught doing THAT would have been way worse than just walking home and face any music of being even later. 😏❤️😎🤘

These dances have been outside the States a long time now. My brother's were doing all the moves in the early 80's here in Australia. You all remember the movie Breakdance (1984) we had that on replay constantly as kids 😂

Breakdancing doesn't exist, it's called breakin' Pop locking doesn't exist. Those are two entirely different styles of dancing. One is called Popping and one is called Locking. And neither of them are Breakin'

I just love capoeira, the brazilian fight dance. And I learned about it through getting Tekken 3, for my PlayStation. And my favourite to play, was Eddie Gordo, and his fighting style was capoeira.

@@michailsolomons2427 I said this dance style with hiphop music. And as similar as the other dance styles are there's more to break dancing than the floor spins and legwork. There are also times when they make robotic-type movements and motions that seem as if they're stuck in position. Appreciate you guys for trying to correct me.

Breakdancing is a form of dancing but it's generally incorporated into pop locking (or B Boy dancing), which they don't show much of in this video. It originated in the States. You can probably find videos of when it began in the 70's/80's on RU-vid.

this Video only shows Powermoves and a little bit of Power tricks. Those are mostly crowd pleasers. You have to see the full thing like Footworks, Locking, Popping, Waving / Electric Boogaloo and you will understand that it's a dance.
