ry that gyn part comes from "jin", meaning "person". As an example, Japanese people call an American an Amerika-jin, so the DBZ translators just did a good job turning saiya-jin into saiyan. From there, I'd personally say we can just assume English pronunciation goes.

Yep! The exact reasons why "Sigh-an" can be considered the more "proper" way to say it is a bit complicated and I don't feel like explaining it all in a comment, but I think this video does a decent job: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BaX60ggKRgc.html In the end the way you pronounce it doesn't really matter, and just kinda depends on how much care about being accurate to the "original" pronunciation. I respect Vinny even at the moment he was honest with us with his opinions of the Sonic franchise. He really showed his integrity on that moment. However, I'm not gonna deny it. The fact he actually enjoyed this marvelous game which I consider it my most favourite game, I found it heartwarming. He even when he had a little prejudice against Sonic, he approached with an open mind. And he could of trashed this game, hard. But he did not. While he thinks it is not perfect, he said he actually found it pretty good and most importantly he had fun. That's why he is one of my favourite streamers. And now I respect him even more now. Yeah, vinny knows why he had prejudice against the games, primarily with not having it and the sega attack ads. Luckily I never grew up in the 90s grew up with a gamecube and ps2. I always remember playing sonic and knuckles on the mega collection, unfortunately I never beat any game cause I was like 6 and braindead. I remember playing green hill from sonic 1 and that's it, emerald hill and chemical plant. And then I remember sonic 3 angel island and maybe hydrocity, after that knuckles I remember the fuck out of mushroom hill. But I am pretty sure the game I played the most and got the furthest in was 3d blast of all games (remember BrainDead)

I've been watching this stupid asshat for years. I love Vinny, I do. I even exclusively seek out some of his longer, more less reactive series (such as Earth Bound) to play while I fall asleep sometimes (I'm 33 and it still takes me 2 hours to fall asleep). Anyway, love the guy to pieces, but always wondered where Mrs. Vinny was. I gather from most comments here, that this woman cackling MADLY at him is not Mrs. Vinny. I don't care what anyone says--no one is stupid for not being able to figure out the Carnival Night barrel. There is nothing in the game that teaches you to press up and down to move something. The entire game is go left or right and press one button. If the barrel could be solved by jumping to increase its momentum, it would make way more sense. And no, the patterns on the barrel are not a clue at all because some of the barrels move on their own accord and can't be manipulated.

I had the opposite problem vinny had. Sonic was the first game I played, so when I played Mario for the first time I just tried to run though all the levels and kept dying . So I don't play a Mario game again till I was a teenager.

Just gonna say, as much as people like to HURR HURR about the barrel, it is actually just shit design. It responding to jumping makes you think that's how it's supposed to work and you're just doing it wrong. Especially since jumping can get you to the items to the left.

DeltaPangaea Yeah, it is pretty bad. It gives back to the player "wrong" feedback, makes it seem to be able to use it to progress in the wrong way AND is used as a common moving platform in other parts of the level.

The first few Sonic games are badly designed as a whole, and I'm sure plenty of other ones are too but I've only played 1-3 (& Knuckles). A game that's advertised with *BLAST PROCESSING* shouldn't make you wait every few seconds for some obstacle. Sure, if it was literally just running through a level with nothing to stop you then it'd be boring, but then don't advertise the game as "RUN THROUGH THE LEVEL GO FAST YEAH" in the first place. Then you throw uninformative mechanics into the mix: "RUN THROUGH THE LEVEL GO FAST YEAH then pause and look up a walkthrough."

The only obtuse mechanic in any of these games is the Barrel...which is in the 3rd game...also never quote "Blast Processing" as a critique of the game, 90's Western advertisement is horrible. You don't get to go fast just because, Sonic's early design mentality is the basic rule for speedrunning, you can only go fast when you know what you're doing. Which requires memorization, otherwise you play just as cautiously as any other platformer and get punished for rushing.

I'm glad imakuni was with Vinny while he was playing the game. If she wasn't Vinny definately would have just spent the entire time shitting on the game, getting stuck in corners trying the same exact shit over and over without realizing what he was doing wasn't working, and then giving up halfway through never to try again.

You should upscale the original recordings and upload in 1080p or higher even when the source is not that high. It gets rid of some of the horrendous RU-vid artifiacts because there is more bitrate available at higher resolutions
